  • What is the toughest sale to make?... No. 2 would be an arranged marriage!
    Look at the friction points in the funnel.
    Create top of the funnel through registration across channels
    First level filters such as City, Qualification, Work, Earning Potential, Looks
    Girl to like the Boy
    Boy to like the Girl
    Parents 1 to like the Boy
    Parents 2 to like the Girl
    Parents 1 to like Parents 2, and vice versa
    Friends to approve of either’s selection
    Roka / Engagement
    Marriage
    Now, I know most people don’t think of it as a sale, but essentially, it’s a person making a sale of one’s suitability as a match.
    And such a huge top of the funnel enabled through technology and internet has led to the paradox of choice kicking in and making it harder for people to find a match.
    I asked folks in my friend circle on how many people did they meet before they found their match in an arranged marriage set up... and the average came to 38.
    👉🏼 Now, what’s an even tougher sale to make?
    It could be Real Estate, Enterprise SaaS, Yachts to Billionaires... but I have data of none of their funnels and conversion rates.
    I do have data on Selling Equity in one’s Startup during a Fundraise.
    For every 100 pitches that a VC receives...
    the Analyst meets with 28
    the Partner meets with 10
    the Due Diligence is taken up for 5
    and Term Sheets are given to 1
    That means 1% of the pitches get a Term Sheet... which is only an “Engagement” and not “Marriage”
    And yet, founders get tired by only doing 50 pitches, not realizing it’ll probably take 50 more to get closer to getting funded.
    I’d love to know conversion rates that you know of from other industries... including Real Estate and Enterprise SaaS.
