    "Cultivator blight"... narrow middle and the outside sweep caught some of that corn and cut it down... We used to have the same thing in sorghum, cotton, corn, and beans when we cultivated as well...
    Nice drone shots and great editing... another great video, really enjoyed it.
    Did he really cut across rows like that?? Seems like it'd roll down a LOT of corn and mess it up so it wouldn't make...
    Later! OL J R :)

    Hi Ryan, a few questions, sorry for repeating them if you have already answered.1. Why don't you plow then cultivate before seeding your crop?2. Why do you have so many areas not sown? There seems to be blocks of planting. Here in Europe, every part of the field is plowed, cultivated, and sown. Then the sprayer is used at an early stage, and you end up with spray tracks where the crop does not grow. It makes the next pass easier, with no more damage.3. When making hay, I saw your video on the Tedder, or hay turner as we call it. Why don't you turn it again to get more sun and air on it? Again over here I would turn the hay maybe twice a day for about 2 days of sunshine before bailing.
    Great videos

      @BenneMannnn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The more you turn or "work" the hay the more it breaks and loses nutrients.
      From what I understand they plant in strips to minimize erosion. I also think that grass strips are good for making sure too much of the nitrogen dosen't go into nearby creeks .
      Plowing isn't done in America like it's here in Europe, they left that stage long ago. No-till or any kind of reduced tillage is used outside of Europe. We are a bit behind but slowly learning the benefits of not plowing.
      For corn, seeding in blocks or squares help with the pollination.

    Ryan, you would be surprised how much a stalk of corn can bend during hot weather. It can bend a lot.

    Now I get it. After seeing it (the sprayer) going through the fields. Also understand the positives out weighing the negatives. Scary I actually learned something.

    In my books Status in considered a rescue treatment. Is your weed pressure bad enough that a full rate of residual didnt hold? Or were you planning on making this pass? I cringe when spraying corn this tall. Hope you dont have any wind events.

    Hi Ryan, Russ from Florida.
    I enjoy your videos a lot. I do have a suggestion though. The next time you get one of those machines on your farm that has such a boom spread I would really like to see you get something that the average person that doesn't get to see these machines in real life can relate to. A pickup, a tractor trailer, just anything that can give perspective to just how huge that machine really is.
    Watching the video doesn't do justice to the size of that machine.
    Thanks-
    Russ

    • @dillonjohn3976
      @dillonjohn3976 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      as someone that sprays more corn than a lot of people you will always run over a crop it doesn't matter how good you are and when you get a boom out to 120 feet you have to drive where it keeps your boom out of the dirt and trees so sometimes you have to loose a few plants

  • @jrbpa5775
    @jrbpa5775 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lot of corn that big around here is getting sprayed by airplane.

  • @stewartadams5884
    @stewartadams5884 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Being unfamiliar with the cost of having this type of work done and with this particular equipment, I imagine it must be cheaper to loose the amount of corn he runs over than to pay for extra runs back and forth. My first and natural instinct though would be to have a cow when watching him drive across the rows where it isn't necessary! I just couldn't bring myself to do that to someone else's crops.

    Ryan said his corn was in 'no till' so he couldn't spray. Some farmer explain to me what he meant. I would think that it's his corn and he can do with it what he wants but the term 'no till' must have something to do with it. I want to guess that he might be able to get more per bushel for it by not using any chemicals or cultivating to produce it.

    • @Budd56
      @Budd56 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jbmbanter he can spray no till, but what he said is he can't cultivate his no till corn. there's too much trash on top with no till to cultivate, it will just plug up

    • @jbmbanter
      @jbmbanter 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Budd for the explanation. I guess I was not even thinking about cultivating. Stands to reason if the field is "no till" he can't cultivate it because that would be tillage. :)

      I was thinking the same thing, you would think they would drive the sprayer down the empty spaces/roads since it looks the same width as the boom. also would save on running over the corn

    That’s the worst job of custom spraying I’ve ever seen. Running over corn at 4:08 and moving over two rows at full speed at 4:30. Has no idea what he’s doing. Status is only labeled to 36 inch corn. Looked like it was almost 4 or 5 feet. He gets the acres done though. Drive as fast and as stupid as you can because it’s not your field.

  • @hunsadersrockinranch

      You can run over a lot more corn trying to stick to the rows in the way our fields are shaped than if you just accept your losses and spray what needs to get sprayed.
