    The trick with most outdoor metal things i.e. patio furniture, lamps etc. is to apply CARWAX when they're NEW or newly restored/ repainted.
    Preserves and prevents rust... 👍🧐💪

    That looks so great. I'm thinking of doing this same thing to match the door because you can't even see the pretty door color under the screen door. I think I will use Rustoleum spray paint and also re-spray the door with that.

      That is a great choice if you do not have a sprayer. I wish you the best on your DIYing. I find it addicting to keep doing projects around the house.

      Won't the spray ,spray around the walls and all the house?

    • @diybattlestation8275
      @diybattlestation8275  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would choose a day with no wind. And at least 48” masking paper around the edge of doorway to prevent overspray.

      @@diybattlestation8275 is there an option to use it with a brush or roller? I don't know how to use spray and don't want a mess in my house because of me not knowing what I am doing

      I am very sorry for not answering your question much earlier. my notifications were not coming through. Of course you can but the result might not turn out the same. I would suggest using a foam roller for smooth surfaces. This will give you the least amount of streaks and texture in the paint while applying the paint. Primer is our friend and it will bond to the surface better than paint, but will also create a great surface for the paint to be applied to. Happy New Years and Happy DIYing

    Use a wire brush to get rid of the rust and those places where paint has "closed up" the mesh of the door. A drop cloth helps.

    • @diybattlestation8275

      I painted over everything. The doors movement will remove the unwanted paint from the hinges. But I recommender removing the handle and locking parts to prevent paint from entering the key hole

      Its a Wagner Flexio 3000. The paint is by BEHR. Its an exterior semi-gloss. Paint has to be thinned with water if its water based or paint thinner if it is oil based. The paint gun can not shoot paint straight out of the can because it is too thick. Sorry for not answering last week.

      Make sure the spray paint can paint rated for outdoor use. Indoor only paint fades a lot faster due to it not having UV protection. The “Masking Paper” can be bought at Home Depot with the Rust Oleum paint. Happy DIYing. 👍🏽

      The sprayer is a Wagner Flexio 3000. Sry about the late response. You have to dilute the paint so that the sprayer works well.

    • @diybattlestation8275

      You can also rent a professional sprayer from a hardware store, but I got this sprayer used from Facebook for the price it would have cost to rent the sprayer for a few hours. I have already used it in 6 of my out door projects and on my in garage work bench area. Takes some time to learn how to mix the paint but TH-cam has plenty of good videos showing how to dilute your paint well.

    The holes in the screen didn't get blocked is it because of the sprayer

    • @diybattlestation8275
      @diybattlestation8275  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, when spraying you get a lighter paint and does not accumulate easily to block the holes. Rollers and brushing paint can cause more of a paint buildup which in turn can clog the mesh in the screen.

    Can breezes still come through the screen?

    • @diybattlestation8275
      @diybattlestation8275  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The airflow depends on the gauge of metal and the diameter of the gaps. My security door is thick so only about 40% of the breeze would be able to pass through.

    You would be better off if you taped the paper on the screen itself-- on the side you were not painting...
