I wish I could relate but none of my friends listen to metal
I totally can, I used to be in a band where my lead guitarist was affectionately referred to as "little goth". Had pale skin, always wore black and shredded hard...
He moved to London and is now a latte sipping hipster.
It hurts man.
metal is not music it's a lifestyle
Backtoast And if you can maintain that lifestyle until age 50 (without dying from starving, liver failure, or injuries from moshing), you'll be considered a metal/underground legend.
metal is just music, I'm a singer, I make lyrics and some rhythms, I just sing in concerts and stuff, when i'm home I dont want to hear any kind of music cause you hear, practice the same fucking song over and over, it was fun to listen metal all day when i was younger but now is a job... and like all jobs it gets boring
This was depressing. That one friend who was once a brutal metal head becomes a mainstream hipster fuckface.
Relatable. Had a friend who just lost it and started listening to Selena Gomez...
that's all too common here, while I enjoy EARLY indie rock from the 80s like the Cows, Killdozer and The Butthole Surfers, modern indie blows and rap doesn't have the capacity to be experimental with a few exceptions.
i agree. i love metal and will never stop the new judas priest album was amazin
mine went from In Flames to trap rap, soundcloud, and indie rock. I remained I metalhead....20 years and going. also I'm the older one.
Man did he say $6 for a shirt daymmmm I would of bought two
You could easily sell the rest of the box for full price and make a hella profit...
The piano version of fade to black sounds like it could be backing music for creepypasta.
"FUCK DAVE MUSTARD STAIN RIP OLD SCHOOL ANTHRAX FUCK" I'm actually in tears
How can you even listen to music through an apple?!
Max Stirner wouldn't be surprised if a metalhead uses an iPhone whatever.
lol "Fade To Black" on piano playing in the background
@@seanglueckert8312 if you like sepultura you should check out nervosa.
I love how he is constantly making Megadeth puns
RiP dave mustard stain. Greatest session player/guitar tech of the past 3 years.
Can the fade to black intro in piano become the new 'hello darkness' or 'all around me are familiar faces' meme
I've known people just like that. Especially when it comes to people being obsessed with indie stuff and waving off their "metal phase".
That's fine. I'm talking about people that say stuff like "oh I used to like metal but then I grew up and discovered thinking man's music like Neutral Milk Hotel."
Went through that phase a year ago. I used to love metal then I found indie and thought indie was life. I have recently started really getting back into metal though. Both can be really good.
I knew this one guy who said Liturgy was the only metal band he could tolerate.
For sure. Both genres have a lot of great and not so great artists to offer if you ask me.
I think its amazeing that you got Dimebag to be in a video. I thought he was dead!
+Nihilist Why not? Dimebag is the legend that change the world of metal and is it wrong for me to give my respect to the legend?
Mart9511 Killswitch you respect overrated legend by crying? Bitch please...
+Nihilist I don't really care about your opinion. If he is overated and that is just your opinion. Metal will never be overrated in the music industry as long as people listen to shit they call music.
The Fade to Black is just too perfect.
"J-cole is playing at the same time as Lam of God"
"I've never heard of those shoes before wtf is that?
like a friend of mine used to listen to slayer and amon amarth, and like the next week she was wearing like t-shirts from h&m and listening to twenty-one fucking pilots and panic at the disco.
My long time friend is starting to drift from metal and it depresses me. He's the only friend I have that listened to it. He told me he listens to country most of the time. I ain't mad......
Yea I'm mad.
Like someone said up above. Metal is life. You just can't not be a metal head. That would mean it was just a phase. Metal isn't a phase for me and I'll be listening to it until the day I die.
There's nothing wrong with liking other genres of music, don't be so closed minded.
There's just so many kinds and subgenres of metal and so many bands and songs that it's so hard to get bored of it. If you get tired of doom metal, go heavier. Deathcore getting old? Go back to the roots of heavy metal.
I wouldn't consider any subgenre better than another. Thrash ain't king, if anything it's kind of getting dated due to lack of any creativity outside of "let's sound exactly like __________ thrash metal band from the Eighties" but Vektor is still kicking ass.
The Abyssal Archivist
tbh thrash is king
but this comment was more for people who feel bored of metal. There's always another genre or band
The Abyssal Archivist
and i didnt mean that any genre was better than the other, my favorites are thrash and power, but there are so many other subgenres that people ignore in their quest to be "metal".
With all due respect, why does thrash metal always get a free pass as the "gold standard" of metal? Who made that rule?
"How do you even listen to music out of an apple" is my new life mantra.
True story. Except both of them are me and whole thing is happening in my head
I feel that when a metal head leaves the community, there always be that one shirt, CD, band, etc that they'll continue to cherish. Being involved in this community is not an easy thing to leave behind.
I love his Kill Em All Patch on the back
@@lbentforleather9654 god I hate how Metallica changed after Cliffs death. They were so god.
@@mariovomhof2775 uh, ...And Justice For All was a great album dude, and that was after Cliffs death! The black album was good as well. Not as great as the other 4 that came before it, but still good.
@@westtexasrailfan ajfa is great but the riffs are a bit boring. Idk. But I respect your opinion.
Even when I went through all of my phases throughout middle and high school I never once stopped listening to metal. Metal is my first love of music and it will always be that way. Right now TAIM is my favorite band.
His hair is glorious
I thought for sure he would get bored on the plane and listen to metal and get hooked again
I like that Chris gets offended everytime he doesnt know someone
Please, more clips of you crashing into walls with shopping carts. I died laughing.
I get its for humor, but I don't really see why there's such a rift between people who're into alt. rock and metal. I've always loved both. I could listen to The Strokes and Slayer and not give a damn whether it's the same type of music or not.
Well yeah the strokes are more rock and pretty cool, but to some it's not as powerful and strong as metal, it can sometimes even be perceived as weak. It's even harder to listen to pop and hip hop because it's so synthesized and auto tuned. Most songs never even feature a real instrument, and the tracks are usually composed by multiple producers. Did you know Rihanna's "Umbrella" has a drum track ripped straight off a loop in GarageBand? Maybe that's why metal heads have such an appreciation for classic music, something which requires years of training and lots of skill play. I try not to be one of those people, and truth be told, I don't think most people are actually like that.
Tl;dr metal heads don't like music besides metal and classical because it takes no talent or is too mellow and not br00tal
+Audio Blur the real instruments point is weak. Compositions are about the end effect. It's not really important if human hands actually played them. Even modern classical has electronic effects. As the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with false premises.
I don't care if the song uses a drum machine as long as it's a good composition.
Audio Blur I look at how well the songs are composed and if they stick with me (in a good way of course). Plus some of the most skilled musicians in the world are in Jazz if you're going to look for instrument technicality. Ex- Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland was a Jazz-Rock fusion guitar player before he ever played any metal. Good ol' Dave Mustaine once said that Chris' playing abilities were beyond his, saying Chris could play "circles around him." There are even a few metal drummers that would even tell you they picked up blast beats from some of the great jazz drummers. Anyways, the point is metal isn't the only genre with greatly skilled musicians.
There are hundreds of good hip hop and pop artists who write their own songs and play instruments, you just have to take the effort and find them.
(Well, probably not sooo many hip hop artists with real instruments ^^)
I see your point. I know people like Buckethead, Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert often use drum machines and other electronic tools, heck strings in most songs are keyboards. I was talking more about mainstream pop and rap, where they do hundreds of takes of a song and meticulously compile only the best parts, where they often use subtle auto tune, where every artist is a ghostwriter for another artist, and where instrumental tracks are seldom made by the singer. Obviously that's not true for everyone and there are many great artists, but that was what I was talking about. I was focusing more on the amount of effort used to make a song, but I completely agree with you about the composition.

WHEN THE FADE TO BLACK PIANO STARTED PLAYING I ALMOST CHOKED ON MY BEER
Finally someone shows some respect for ANNIHILATOR!
If this guy was selling band T-shirts I'd be like " YEAAH GIMME TWO"
Can we talk about how all my old band mates and bands in my scene went to become sound cloud rappers
When your friend Goes Mainstream, you friendship Fades to Black
I’m 48 and metal truly is a lifestyle. Enough said. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
So, going mainstream means you can drive a nice car and you can fly with an airplane? I am not going to stop listening to Doom Metal just for some pointless souless hardware. My Dying Bride rules above all!
When you have NO Metalhead friends. I cry every day
When the person that got you into metal and you had a crush on, goes hippie. Yea that happened to me.
Dave mustard stain rip old school anthrax
"Ah fuck Dave Mustard Stain and RIP old school Anthrax!! Fuck!" I completely lost it at that part.
I love that Fade to Black plays throughout video
2:46 love the metallica fade to black and trough out the whole video
So...metalheads can't listen to other styles of music? Well, fuck.
Metal is til death. You can like other types of music, you just can't say "I used to be into metal". Because it means you never were into it, it was just a phase.
once a metalhead always a metalhead !!!! true story !
this is actually happening to me...
+A Sloth Nope....my friend is the one who is going mainstream, not me
+Natdaprat since when going from metalhead to mainstream is called gorwing up ??
Unfortunately this happened to me when I first started getting into metal.
I started listening to the occasional Master of Puppets (because I bought the album completely by accident, I only wanted the song. Note I was about 10-11 years old at the time and just got my first device), and he the occasional “greatest hits” of Metallica.
He introduced me to songs like Fade to Black, and Enter Sandman. After that, it was all in for me. Listened to all of their studio albums multiple times over, still love em to this day. Of course now I have bands like Slayer and Municipal Waste to go along with Metallica, but they’re still my favorite just because it’s what got me into metal (and the right kind of metal, thrash).
My friend though...didn’t go along with me. He kind of stopped after hearing the songs with music videos and Master of Puppets. He never listened to any other metal unless it was bands that I would show him.
His favorite Metallica song used to be One. What is it now you might ask? The Unforgiven II. THE UNFORGIVEN II!!!
Ahem
At least he still likes some hard rock stuff like Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace, but he still listens to pop music like that song I hate called “Cheerleader” (at least he used to, maybe he moved on from that song). I just wish he would have jumped off the deep end with me.
Now I have friends who don’t listen to metal. Well, one is up and coming, but she’s not quite to the pinnacle yet.
Anyway, sorry for the Fallout 4 style companion rant, just had to vent a little.
You know it's a sad video when you hear the piano version of fade to mainstream
This is too emotional I’m tearing up
I cant stress this enough, I hate it when my friends move away from metal for fucking mainstream music.
It doesn't make me anymore open minded
"So, wearing the battle jacket, eh?"
Your Canadianness is showing
These videos are getting better and better. Keep it coming guys!
wait WTF! i feel like the moral of the story is stop being metal or you'll be a loser 😢
The ending is supposed to be ambiguous on who the loser actually is.. Maybe both are the loser? Maybe you're the loser for even watching the video? Maybe I'm the loser for making it, who knows!
We can all agree Spotify is reasonable for Metal, cause it's free.
My 14yr old nephew has gone from listening to mumble rappers like Lil' Yachty to Heavy Metal music like Thy Art Is Murder, Suicide Silence and many others! 😎 \m/
When he first said "eh?", I imagined they were Canadian.
Then they talked about Annihilator, and I was sure they're Canadian.
What's wrong with The Smiths lmao
oh yeah I remember
MORRISSEY
this dude i knew that helped me get into slam suddenly started listening to rap and got himself a bowl-cut.... wtf?!
Happyist Maybe something bad happened in his life or something and to avoid killing himself he did a 360 and completely changed his personality and likes just to avoid realizing how sad he really is
It happened to 2 of my friends and it's pretty sad
I've been listening to Indie for a long time (The Smiths, Bastille, etc.)
Now I'm getting into Metal
This reminds me a lot of how I've been listening to a lot more punk these days, while still enjoying metal. Sometimes, people's tastes expand.
My taste has hugely expanded into almost any Metal subgenre. Before that I was mostly into Extreme Metal.
+Francisco Javier metalhead is someone who metal is his passion and his life style someone who listen sometime to metal is not a metalhead
i listen to metal aswell as punk, some emocore, classic rock, miami bass, even some rap and many more. but i absolutely HATE this stupid illiterate ass sexist talentless nicky minage kanye west eminem lil wayne and so on crap. and what pisses me of is when their retarted listeners try to tell me rock is not music or "you have long hair? you must have beem living under a ROCK hihihi go back to 70s or 90s or whatever..." damn i wish i could. my Generation is soooo cringy. and what i hate even more is when people who usually listen to good music start listening to such garbage. i am NOT tolerating intolerance.
RanterInShades Yeah true. I've gone from liking metal and classic rock only to adding bits of pop, rap, country and also loving EDM. What's even cooler about the last one is that there are artists/producers that are also metalheads, sometimes it's so obvious, it's in your face like with Excision for example. Heavy music + fanbase name Headbangers + destructive bass levels in concerts + having anthems that require an *elevated existence* to enjoy = metalhead.
"J.Cole, I've never heard of those shoes before" :'D haha!
two videos... and I'm subscribing. this guy is hilarious
"Man how the fuck do you even listen to music out of an apple"
subbed lol
It happened the same to me lol, and that friend was even more heavier than me
Chris reminds me of Ricky if Ricky was a metalhead
haha that's what I was thinking he sounds a lot like Ricky when he mispronounces stuff
I think he looks like Screech from Saved by the Bell if he would have grown his hair long
"Where did I park? Oh yea behind the pole!" *approaches stolen shopping cart* fucking love you guys!
This was beautiful, thank you
The apple joke was sick xD
"get in your cab and go to hot topic " 😂😂
First video I've seen with these guys. After 2 min. I've liked, subscribed and commented. Real humour :))
This was pretty touching. I'll go out and lay a tear
I had a friend like this
from slipknot and of mice and men to 21 pilots and imagine dragons
:’(((
"Are you still in this band?" *fade to black plays* LOL!
That piano fade to black made this video so much better
That fade to black in the background was well placed haha
Dope kreator shirt Chris

I love that fade to black in the background
Really Liked this video. I also liked the use of Fade to Black, very fitting.
