    I think I finally found my solution for my extremely pointy canines. I don’t technically have any gaps in my teeth, but my canines are so pointy that it makes it look like I do. I was so afraid I would have to get veneers or something to fix the problem, but I’m happy I found this!

    Also I thought the whole thing of bonding was so u don't have to do retainers which comes after getting braces removed? So even with this bonding u will need a retainer aka tray ? I'm confused

      @willschmidtrda3428 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are talking about a completely different procedure in this video. You are correct, lingual bonding after orthodontic movements acts as a type of non-removable retainer. It is the act of placing resin or a wire strip to the teeth and 'bonding" them into place. The patient in this video is receiving a direct restoration that is bonded to their teeth to cosmetically reshape them utilizing a similar tooth colored resin. It has nothing to do with orthodontic movement. However, as a loose term, both procedures are sometimes called "bonding". Thanks for watching!

      I don't know where you live but in my country (UK), it is one of the least expensive cosmetic dentistry options v veneers or crowns. I paid equivalent US$200 per tooth but the prices vary, even locally. Maybe google your location and composite bonding, most dentists have fees sections on their websites.

    What is the difference btwn bio clear matrix and the camaflouge nano hybrid matrix? The process looks identical. Is the composite material the same? What would be the typical cost for getting 15 teeth done and how long does it take?

    • @justinchi9931
      @justinchi9931 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The matrix used during this Camouflage procedure is a standard clear matrix that's placed mainly to prevent resin adhesion to the neighboring teeth. The bioclear matrix is a preformed matrix that is supposed to minimize the shaping and contouring needed during the composite application. I took a more freehand approach during this treatment, but I'll try out the bioclear to see if it can help save time.

      Hi Vignesh, since we were entirely in enamel and able to get sufficient material applied on the lingual side of 6 and 12, I felt comfortable going directly into the bonding protocol. I recommend avoiding just an incisal application since those will be more at risk of failing. Thank you for the question

    Just had bonding done today in NY with a Periodontics Practitioner. The resin, sadly is like sandpaper and rough - compared to the natural enamel. Appearance wise, it looks nicer - but the feeling is odd. It feels like the resin went over farther on the middle of my teeth and at the bottom/edge more than I'd like and is not as smooth. Afraid this is irreversible, as the resin/polishing has taken away the smooth feel of the natural enamel. I told them it felt rough and they polished with electric drill-like device - which didn't make much difference. I had a resin filling done back in 2005 for a tiny cavity - the finish was very smooth, like a sealant/clearcoat. This resin used for bonding feels nothing like it. Concerned.

    Hello Doc, I love your videos! I have a quick question. How many hours did it take to do this case in one appointment? I'm quite a slow worker at our school's clinic. I can't imagine how slow I'd be if I had to take impressions, make a study cast, do an indirect wax up, make a putty matrix then work directly on the patient. I'd like to know how many hours it usually takes so I could gauge myself better. Thank you!

    • @justinchi9931
      @justinchi9931 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Mary, the study cast is made from impressions taken at the data collection/tx planning appointment. We scheduled the treatment after the wax-up was done. This case took about 2 hours. You can certainly complete the case without the aid of a wax-up and matrix, but it's more complex if you don't have a good grasp of anterior morphology. In a school environment, I think it'll save you time in the long run to have a putty matrix to guide for the length and width of the final restoration. Good luck!
