Steve Morse to me is one of the greatest guitarists Ive ever heard , Ive been listening to him since 1978,.., he has the Steve Morse band , a new group with a girl , Deep Purple ,still on occasion with Kansas , as well as the Dixie Dregs , everything he plays and uses ,he partially invented , hes not just fast or plays great solos , hes so innovative , versatile , hes in heavy demand , all this and he can fly commercial airliners as well ....he just amazes me with all the parts he plays
Its amazing- Tommy is working with Steve since 1979. He is a great guy and he was very nice showing us Steve`s rig in detail during the gig in Moscow All the best to Tommy and Steve!
the loom is 30 feet . the guitar cable is 30 more feet. a buffer was introduced by the rack builder. recently though i have been running a separate cable straight to the amp from the polytuner. the mids do sound fatter now. so we just live w/ all the free kin cell phone rf and arena repeater rackett...
Basically the three volume pedals are a mini mixing desk. He mixes effects with his feet on the fly. Both clever and very organic and natural -- that's Steve Morse in a nutshell. I remember him explaining this on his vid. That short delay -- "like a fish swimming in the water..." :)
- A buffer strengthens your signal, and that's needed sometimes.. For example, playing through many, like 10+ true bypass (no buffer) pedals - you can end up, needing a buffer. Or two..
Hey Tommy... good to see you again!! Looks like the Greek.. not sure but wherever you are make sure you get a decent steak done the way you like it! Good work. Thanks for the run through. Cheers! Dave Bova
Got to meet Steve when a friend and I went to see him at a guitar clinic at Memphis State back in early 90's. We helped him plug some stuff in and talked a little about his former airline stint, as I was currently learning to fly myself thru UT Martin. Got some pics along with some older roadie looking lady... Yes she was a little older than us.. LOL. We sat right in front of him and it was one of the highlights of my life besides getting Lynch Mob to sign my BC Rich....
yeah I do the same using a Memory Boy. an old Roland EV-5 works great, mines set to a really close doubling to all out long delay with a sweep of the pedal. Its much cooler to use that all through the songs using the close delay during rhythms and breaking it loose in the solos. I didn't realize Steve did this as well until I saw this video today. I also use it on a whim during some freestyling adlib solos to crank the feedback on it and quasi-wah the ev-5 into some crazy jutters, THAT cooks all the wasted people in the audience, lol
I think you're right, but I also think that the 'buffer hysteria' has risen to heights I never dreamed possible.. To me - if it sounds good it is good..
If you wan't to create a delay blend effect like Steve with one amp and one volume pedal, check out my chematics at myspace.com/wernerslinger/photos (gear section). These schematics will soon be found on the official Steve Morse website according to Steve's manager.

This video is much more clear than the one I was trying to do on my mobile last year:))

7 weeks out on tour has that effect on me. i'm a tech.......not an announcer ..
@wzgslinger We don't have any at the moment, but you'll never know
that volume pedal with the delay idea is genius i'm gonna go try that!!

I'm in a band with Tommy's son, the kid is a monster at drums
Can you please make a new movie about Steve's rig with the new TC Electrionic devices?
Why Ritchie, not Steve as background music??????
@DrEviscerator666
yea sometimes i am i rekon......
why a song with Blackmore for a subject about Steve Morse?
Sometimes I feel... could be...

...but will it go to 11?
is this recorded in Horsens?
when i heard Ritchie's Solo i forgot all the pedal bullshit :-)
there is a new one.
I bet those memory mans will be replaced with tc electronic flashback delays... :)
do make a gear review...you NEED Rebecca Dirks...
let me guess. he uses his signature amplifier
The music is distracting
It would've been nice to at least put a song that Steve's playing on...
I nearly fell asleep during that. Boring.
