Like you say, so disgusting they think it is okay to romanticize someone who did such horrible things to people, let alone people who were very vulnerable in society and had to risk dangerous situations like ending up being kidnapped and murdered just to have some type of relationship or social life in their community, and if something were to happen they would not be any priority for the law enforcement and reporting anything in the first place would put the community in real bad legal danger. So disrespectful to make jokes and treat the situation as anything besides a horrific tragedy where victims were forced into experiencing horrible things, that highlights the dangers of communities being marginalised and belittled to the point that even someone from one such community (the black woman who called the police) reporting that they think someone's life is in danger (gay young teen boy) it is laughed off. Add on to all that, the fact that this guy looked like "your neighbor's drunk son who thinks he can make it as a musician and does carpentry on the side, neither of which he is good at" and isn't even "attractive" by today's standards shows that the people are entirely attracted to either looking quirky themself or they have some fantasy of a "dangerous love" Twilight situation that they somehow don't fully realize is entirely removed from an actual kidnapping and murder. Like Ted Bundy romanticization is horrible enough, but some photos I've seen of him he does resemble some people who are considered "mainstream attractive" today, so when someone thinks he was good looking it theoretically could truly be saying his features were the only attractive thing (though I highly doubt anyone who is making a post on the internet about how good looking a serial killer was, actually is actually only saying "his facial structure was sort of nice tbh").
