Martin Mooney never heard of drugs?? These dudes used steroids like multivitamins. Add cocaine and alcohol to the mix, it was the 80s of course. Coke was like Red Bull, most people at least tried it once. I just found out here about the young kids, really touches my heart because I have young kids and i was once a young kid. Can’t imagine their pain.

I’d believe he was nice dude. If you listen to any of the wrestlers who spent time with him outside of the ring they all have great things to say about him, I can’t think of any negative stories involving him. Steve Austin brings him up from time to time on his podcast and you can hear by the tone of voice how much love and respect he had for him.

the schedule has gotten a lot better. for years they ground these guys to dust. Roddy Piper said once that he wrestled for a month and a half straight without a day off and struggled getting out of bed. what were you going to do? say no and lose your spot? you took pain pills, muscle relaxants and steroids to recover quickly, survive and get bigger. yes, the business is partly to blame.

Steroids helped with pain also and injury recovery. However mixed with amphetamines, coke, ect is why they all died at 40. I saw it in dog racing 1 to 2 years. Liver kidneys and heart shot. That would be 14 years in people usually at 40 years of age. Horse racing same deal. Before I get tore apart, my dogs were only naturally trained nutrition and hard work only. Didn't mean I didn't know what was happening , I learned about it from a Indian friend that knew wahoo McDaniel personally in 1979 . They called them wrestlers shots.

Not fair to blame the business? If any other form of sports entertainment had the number of deaths per capita that wrestling has had over the last 30 years, there'd be inquisitions held. Prisons sentences. But nothing ever gets said when wrestlers die. At least outside of wrestling circles. Never understood why. It's a goddamn shame too because many of these wrestlers were the nicest, most humble people you'd ever want to meet. And then they got pushed over the edge in many, many cases.

In honor of Rick, I remember when I was a kid and watched (on tv) Jake the snake ripped off Rude's tights defending his wifes honor. My brotther and I jumped out of our seats. Our parents told us wrestling was fake but when we saw that and the blur used to hide the actual underwear we couldn't see. We were convinced that it was all real. Our parents weren't angry that we had seen it because they were so shocked that it happened THEY even began to question if that really happened.... Absolute entertainment and I still remember how Rude danced around.and ran as if he was naked. Great show!

Eric Bischoff was kicked out of Rick Rude’s wake/funeral.
Rude took out one of those Lloyd’s of London insurance claims on his back, and when he hurt it in Japan he collected on the insurance payout which meant he could never wrestle again without having to payback the insurance claim.
Rude seeing the business booming in the late 90’s felt he could make a comeback and wanted Bischoff to pay off his insurance claim for him, and take less money in his contract.
Bischoff felt that was not a good investment and it created serious heat between Rude & Bischoff. Rick knew he couldn’t go back to WWF after the whole being on Nitro/Raw at the same time fiasco. So his only option was to manage Curt Henning.
I believe Rick even pulled a gun on Eric at one point.

In 2015 and 2016 I dated a girl who was a big lover of ghb. My old roommate was a bodybuilder who took GHB and basically if you take a little bit of GHB and go to sleep it puts you almost immediately into REM sleep so it's great for recovery. But when I took it it was a liquid and euphoric is quite the understatement. It was amazing. Your sex drive exploded and it was awesome but the issue is if you take just a little bit too much it can knock you out and I took too much one night and woke up in the ER and I was asleep there for maybe 2 hours and I felt like I slept 14 I felt great and drove home and that was the last time I took it. I was like this isn't worth it I'm not trying to go down this road but yeah it's fun and it has a lot of benefits but it's so easy to take too much. Although I'm very hesitant to believe it would have caused what happened to him. Most people who died from it asphyxiate on their own vomit.
