    I saw it live in Corvallis, Oregon in the path of the totality. Thought it was just going to be 1 minute and 30 seconds of shade. I was wrong. I am not religious but it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Pictures cannot do justice to the awe of seeing a giant floating boulder (moon) slowly roll over the sun and when fully covering it taking off the eclipse glasses and staring in awe at the corona of the sun around to moon. Unbelievable and humbling. If you EVER get a chance to view one somewhere around the world, do it.

    I watched on TV as it came into Oregon .. and got more excited as it got closer to SC .. I happen to be in Anderson County SC "center of totality " and when it came .. It was a wild experience .. My location had 2 1/2 minutes of totality .. All day we feared clouds and they began to grow but went away about an hour before .. Crystal Clear ..

      Lucky!!! Did you get pictures? i live in N. AZ, and we had 75% coverage. We took pictures of the image that we projected through our telescope onto the side of the house. The sun shining through the tree leaves made crescents on the ground, and we took pictures of those too. It was only a partial, but was cool to see nonetheless. I can wait til 2024---we're going to Dallas to see that one.

      No I didn't get pics ..I saw the crescents too of the leaves .. think I started noticing the crescents at about 50 % . I noticed at about 75% that everything was noticeably dimmer but clear ,Like I was wearing sunglasses with a light tint .. 3 minute before you could see the change more rapidly and then the wave of darkness .. Right now .. Interstate 85 is clogged between Atlanta and Charlotte .. Never seen 50 mile backups LOL .. but fortunately all I had to do was walk outside to enjoy The Show

      Yes! I was just outside of Corvallis, and we had about 90 seconds of totality ... completely breathtaking. I literally teared up, there was just something That made me feel tiny and extremely lucky at the same time. NO video does it justice.

    Nice job to the post! Than for sharing this, we went 85 to 90 percent in central OK and was pretty sick, but didn't get to make it to a totality location! Sweet job on the filming of this Eclipse!

    So incredible you get to see literal light translations of cumulative surface differences on an object so far away. Those bands a product of the specific interaction between rudimentary physics of light and the complex surfaces it illuminates.

    A solar eclipse and so many people looking in the wrong direction,amazing.Millions that is,the effects from a solar eclipse can only be projected on Earth because it's our moon responsible for this phenomenon and not another,so observing the changes on Earth instead of an empty sky would have made more sense to me.

    Does anyone think it a highly unlikely coincidence that the sun is 400 times farther away than the moon and the exact times larger in diameter, causing them to appear exactly the same size in the sky. God did this on purpose and for our benefit, so that we could experience a total eclipse and study and marvel at his creation. All glory to God!

    • @screamingweevil3410
      @screamingweevil3410 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @jpuckett5580
      @jpuckett5580 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, if you want to use facts (not FAKE NEWS) the sun is 389 times farther away than the moon. Your number of 400 is correct for the diameter ratio. Now, if you want a real mind trip, the moon is actually (measurably!) moving away from the earth. It used to be closer. Current speed of departure is roughly an inch a year.

    • @screamingweevil3410
      @screamingweevil3410 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because the moon is closer to Earth than the sun is. Have you ever noticed how shadows have different sizes depending on how far they are from the light source? It's the same idea.

    • @AbdulQadirghayour
      @AbdulQadirghayour 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, the moon (object) is precisely coming fit in front of light source if it (object) is more near to us so the sun will have totally disappeared for a while. or if the object is near to the light source then it was to be passed from the center of the light source (sun). but it comes amazingly perfect!

  • @umpqua-4freedom436
    @umpqua-4freedom436 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok, from where I was sitting for the Eclipse, near Salem Oregon, what I saw has me confused. I saw the Sun moving behind a moon that appeared stationary, because it was coming towards me = later today the moon will be in the western sky where it usually is this time of year. And what's even odder...I did not see any sign of the earth's rotation in that spectacle in the sky. If I can see movement in that Eclipse, which I did - I should have seen some evidence of the earth's rotation- that spectacle should have moved away from my spin!! If I am spinning I would not have seen just ONE object moving today! My eyes saw only the SUN moving up there today. Common sense says the earth today was not spinning, it was stationary, because the moon was moving towards me and it appeared stationary. If I were spinning, the moon would have been moving in any way besides a straight line towards me!!! So, who's been lying to me my whole life? If the sun is stationary and the earth and moon are both orbiting around it, there would have been some, even if slow, movement of both of those celestial objects to the left right or in some direction -away from my spin!! I watched a relatively fast moving Eclipse...considering how many millions of miles way the Sun is. And folks, the MOON DID NOT MOVE - I could not seen ANY difference in movement between the earth and the moon today -none! It appeared to my eyes that the moon was in sync with the earth, so if the moon was moving, it was only moving toward me!! Someone weigh in here...I'm thinking I've been lied to my whole life here!!! The SUN MOVES!!! The moon appeared stationary because it is coming towards me - the proof of that will be when it is in the western sky tonite!! If the moon was not moving North as it appeared, but WEST, then the movement I witnessed that caused the Eclipse today was ONLY that of the SUN, not the earth nor moon!! Am I right????

    • @janetgriffiths7200
      @janetgriffiths7200 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can't detect earth's rotation, but it does The sun is stationary, earth revolves around it as well as rotating. The moon orbits (revolves) around earth. The earth is not stationary nor flat. The flat-earthers are idiots, and have gone back to pre-Magellan thinking.

    • @screamingweevil3410
      @screamingweevil3410 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are incorrect. Both objects were moving. It only appears to be stationary because the objects are moving slowly. There are many videos out there about the eclipse and astronomy in general if you want to learn more!

      It wasn't fake. In the partial phases of the eclipse, the camera has to be filtered. They took the filter off for totality, and put it back on after the "diamond ring" became visible. Without a filter, the camera's optics can be burned, not to mention the person's eyes who was filming.

    ok ,,music is our universal language and I have always loved that and even now it's a Beautiful Thing, ,but for most of us life is tough .and what a relief we have someone who cares enough to love us and that is our creator King of Kings ,,we need to hold onto that.

    Just another little example of the power & glory of our Creator. God! Sights like this are possible every day of your life. Hang up the cell phone. Jump in the car and visit our state parks and national forest. Look at the beauty of nature all around you. Mountain lions, bears, elk, long horn sheep up in the mountains! The Glory of God is everywhere! You just gotta take the time to look. JW

      Well said!!! I love being outdoors and exploring and checking out God's creation. And I don't even own a cell phone; waste of time and money. We have a national forest about fifteen minutes from our home (Prescott National Forest, AZ). We go hiking there often.

    I have a question. The Bible says that the has a greater light and the moon has a lesser light, then how can the moon black out the sun?

    • @vcastro0234
      @vcastro0234 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the sun is so far away from earth that it looks like the sun and the moon are the same size when they align.

    • @MrBrandonXP
      @MrBrandonXP 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because the sun is way farther out in space. It's like when you hold your thumb up to the sun, it covers it.

    • @laflamme7012
      @laflamme7012 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      yupia yupia the moon is 400 times smaller than the sun. The sun is 400 times farther away then the moon is so when the moon orbits in front of the sun it blocks it out perfectly

      yupia yupia Bible is right , moon has a lesser light but isn't the source of light . The sun has the brightest light compared to the Moon and the light of the sun illuminates the moon .Hey I want u to completely read ur Bible and specially the last chapter or the remaining chapter , u will find the truth then
