Lighthouse, Steam Palaces, and Wild Skatepark are my top 3 maps highlighted for January 2024 due to the overall map theme as well as some details. (and one of them is a nostalgic purpose since TwiistedPandora played this map a couple times in the past)
- Lighthouse in terms of gp is basically Lava Tower but Crazy, and as long as you don't mind that, it's a solid map. Yes it's mostly just a tower, but it's a fun tower especially with the changes from the Reworked version... would be cool if this actually became a permanent map, not because of nostalgia bait or whatever but because it's still pretty unique and fun - I love Abandoned Junkyard's theme, and combined w/ the OST the map creates a cool atmosphere... and for the most part gp is well-executed, it's just a select few jumps that'll determine how much you'll enjoy playing it. *Those* jumps I think are... fine and pretty consistent after some practice (barring FE2 physics) but they're not super satisfying to do. Adding AJ in its current state really wasn't the best idea when there's so many safer picks out there - Half of Orbital's gp is jumping on random props floating in space which, combined with the slow pacing of a hard map, feels boring... at least the background's nice to look at, so it's better than Fallen at least
i remember like 4, almost 5 years ago, twiistedpandora said that lighthouse would be perfect for fe2. Even though it's just a highlight, his point remains. I'm glad to see an og map in the game.
After for 4 years of fundamental requests, most of the FE2 communities dreams have finalized to success. Seeing the amazing FE2 nostalgia in the main game as a highlight is crazy infinite. W Crazyblox on god as I look forward for Lighthouse to be a permanent map!
as someone who hasn't played back then, i didn't really have much nostalgia for this map, but it was still pretty fun to complete regardless of the weird gameplay

Imo, abandoned junkyard IS actually good, the only thing I (heavily) dislike is that is the fact it is the first highlighted crazy+, it is too hard. Maybe if they could’ve added something like sub zero sphere or lost city of gold. At this point, rj and aj are not giving the crazy+ experience, but rather showing off how much hell crazy+ maps can be. Maybe if they were added later it would have been more reasonable
Great video man!!! Anyways I do agree with everything you said but my favorite highlight is 100% Lighthosue but Wild Skatepark would be a great addition as well. Imo as Steam Palaces design and ost are amazing, the gameplay is rather a bunch of backtracking and gets boring pretty easy. It’s not a bad map but I can’t see why so many people love this map. Wintertide Haven 7/10 6. Orbital Overlook 6.9/10 So Abandoned Junkyard imo is a map you enjoy the more you play it and it’s definitely not perfect as there are a few nitpick jumps I don’t like but the gameplay is rather “ok” and takes it as someone who managed to beat this on Fe2cm with the escapee on mobile. The design is top notch (imo better than VJ’s) and the ost is pretty good for the most part until the end where it sounds awkward to listen.
Also your not wrong Abandoned Junkyard is one of the worst highlights (imo) really RNG. AJ is the WORST highlight of the bunch, why didn’t we get something easier like SZS? WHY A HARD CRAZY PLUS

Out of these 6 highlights the only one that caughts my attention is lighthouse all the others have flaws. Wintertide is too bland. Wild skatepark is just… not as fun as lighthouse. Orbital is long dark and many longjumps. I think the ost of steam palaces is whatever and abandoned junkyard is just plain boringly and stupidly hard. Summary Wintertide: 5.5 Orbital: 6.2 Abandoned: 7.3 Steam: 8.1 Lighthouse: 9.5
