In fact he could have claimed self defense since the Rat was choking him first and he pushed him away to defend himself, resulting in the Rat's death. It probably would have worked out in his favor if it had gone to court, especially after finding out that Mary was a witness and could have backed up his story. But then he went and killed the Cat which there was no way he would have gotten away with that.
This was awesome! i had a theory on what the Rat's name is. Since the Cat (what we all thought his name was) is Candy, i think (because Cat and candy both start with 'c') the Rats name is Randy. it is just a theory, but it just seems proper. like if you agree!

For head injuries, I can speak from personal experience. If a bleeding head wound isn't treated soon, you can easily die from blood loss.
