Hi this was so helpful! I've just discovered your channel today. I just rescued a large basil and a large chilli pepper plant from Sainsbury clearance section. What size pots do I need to put the basils in? The pepper plant has about 20 peppers on it-- I don't have any mature chilli pepper plants. He's in a 12cm pot right now and definitely growing out of it-- what size should I get for it? Any suggestions for soil-- I just have compost mixed with coir, is that okay for them both? Do you have a video on how to rescue grocery store peppers as well? thanks for the video!
@Maazzzo chillies don’t need a massive pot because they’re quite small plants in comparison to what they produce. If you can get a 10l pot that would be plenty. You’ll see how to deal with the basil in this video…. As the plants grow you can pot them up into bigger pots. How big you need will depend on how many plants you put in there. The plant itself doesn’t get huge but it does have a robust root system that needs space.
@Maazzzo go have a nosey at this and it will explain it all a bit better (perlite vermiculite etc) than I can in a comment th-cam.com/video/ciEYhwaiiqo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Iru6hlj0R9oh8Ou_
“Gateway drugs” 😂😂😂That cracked me up! I’ve had a sad looking basil plant on my windowsill for two weeks. After watching this video this morning I’ve gone and separated it out and now have five wee plants in separate pots all with a chance of growing now. Thank you so much. I’m literally binge watching your videos and learning so much while I wait impatiently for my greenhouse to be delivered.
Oh I know that feeling… waiting for the greenhouse. If you haven’t watched my video about organising the greenhouse to get the most out of it, I highly recommend it
I WISH the basil looked like that in the supermarkets here in the US, all we get for almost $4 is a couple of small stems with a few leaves stuck into a mixture of dirt and water in a plastic bag that you have to prop up between stuff in your cart so it doesn't spill all over. You're so lucky!
Just recently bought 2 herb plants because they were cheaper and healthier looking then the bunches of herbs. This is so helpful as I try to keep my cilantro and basil alive.
Hi Eli, this video is so helpful. I followed the instructions on this video and lo and behold my little basil plants are thriving. First time I've ever kept a shop bought plant alive! I'm new to gardening and love your videos. You and Kate are so warm and have such a fun sense of humour. Keep up the good work! 🪴🌱
Perfect video tutorial thank you! I have 4 house rabbits who love fresh herbs, so I'm using your wisdom to grow my own from repotted supermarket ones. Just need to keep them out of bunny reach now, until they are ready to prune for their feed ❤ 😅
New sub here. This was delightful and informative! I got a basil plant from Trader Joe’s last week, and have used the leaves in several dishes so far. I can’t grow plants to save my life (inherited my dad’s gangrene thumb), but, at this stage of my life (I’m 67), I figured what the heck, let’s give it a whirl. Thank you for the wealth of info in this video.
Hello good afternoon, I'm from USA, just watched this little lesson because it came randomly in my feed after searching for results and peer to peer reviews about store bought herbal plants for indoor/ outdoor use. I know this video is about 3 years old but nevertheless it's still relevant for me and extremely helpful. You are such a charming lady and very informative. I love some basil and cilantro and art my store they have the cilantro, basil, parsley, chives, mint, rosemary, thyme, all in one cart in the porridge department and i want one of each. I love cooking with fresh herbs and especially to include fresh basil. Herbs and produce have become nearly cost prohibitive that i want to start growing my own herbal plants as well as various onions and peppers and tomatoes and other small berries. I love in an apartment and i genuinely appreciate your advice on how to commit the longevity of these wonderful little gifts. Thank you have a wonderful day blessings.
Thank you so so much! I just loaded up at Trader Joe’s and haven’t the slightest clue what to do now that I’m home. Lol after watching this I feel so ready to take this on. :)
This is a super helpful video! I just bought some new herbs from Tesco and you basically answered all my questions. Love your energy as well, thanks so much for your information!
I can't tell you the multiple times I have killed store bought herb plants in the past. I can see now why the died so quickly. We just brought home a Coriander plant tonight so now I know what to do!
I saw some other gardeners actually put the roots system in water to help separate the plants, essentially washing off the soil that they were in so they can be pulled apart more easily. Not sure if that is a trick to use for all plants or just some... but it might help make the process a bit less scary for first time gardeners.
Yep it’s something you can do for any small plants in a fine soil. You’ll often see folk do it to separate things like onions when you are planting seedlings out.
I love your energy. I bought a property in Portugal, yeah I know, completely different weather. I am so scared of gaddening, but desperate to do it. I kill plants and it is so expensive. But I wanted to get info on planting my store bought herbs. Mostly cilantro, which is so finicky. But I subscribed as even though I am older than you my knowledge and fear of this subject is childlike. So yeah when Auntie speaks I listen😅, you and your energy and accent make it fun. Thanks, and any tips on cilantro appreciated. I got the supplies to build a mini greenhouse. Any tips on that also welcome. Here freezing in winter, tons of rain, summer dangerous heat wildfires. I have about 7 old metal bathtubs, thought to do raised beds to not loose water so much in summer, what do you think? My property is all concrete terraces😢, so no ground to dig into.
I suspect our gardening experiences will be polar opposites I think it’s always good to see how other folk battle their weather, makes you realise the grass isn’t always greener 😁
We don't get that many plants in one pot so I just take them out the pot and plant them in a very large planter with lots of fresh soil. I have an amazing herb garden throughout the summer, :-) In winter a put the planter in my glass house. Most of the time it survises the winter, except when it's freezing below -5 C.
I always put the herbs I bought from shop in the pots in to my garden, cut off the leaves and i have fresh herbs all summer long. Cheers from Central Scotland xx
This was really helpful, thank you so much. I just made some planters in my garden out of pallets and have sown Parsley, Chives, Rosemary, Thyme and Mint. They've just started coming through and I'm very excited. I also bought a coriander plant from Tesco and want to re pot it and make sure it doesn't die, so this is really useful! Gardening will help me with Uni stress hopefully.
Noooo way I just bought some herbs from the store to grow in my garden..... wow I dod not no they was lots of individual plants I'm so happy I found you lol watch out don't get cancelled sharing your little secret lol
Thank you so much! I just couldn’t understand why my plants kept dying. I would watch them closely. Do everything I’m “supposed” to do. They would thrive for a long time then all of a sudden loose it. And I always looked for the fullest plants.
Many thanks for your very informative video. I’ve wasted loads of fresh supermarket herbs over the years but now I can save them and some money too! 👍🏴
Aww thank you John... that's actually an old video, we have a community of just over 10,000 subscribers here now. A really good bunch of folks. The video on that will release on Sunday I actually our celebration video with a giveaway.
Excellent video. I always wondered why I was failing to grow it before. Thank you so much.. We now have a greenhouse as well so I’ll follow your guidance with my Lidl bought basil down in Brighton .I’ve subscribed by the way.
@@eliandkate At the moment I we have tomatoes, salad leaves (in a hanging basket so the slugs don't get them), broad beans, green beans, carrots and some tiny chili plants. All except the carrots (which came from seed) have been given away on a local facebook group for gardeners :) All are being grown in pots, we have a pot full of pansies and a couple of acers too! The garden in wild, messy and overgrown but I am making plans for raised beds next year :) Planning to make a herb garden after watching this too!
Thank you for this. I haven't bought chives in a pot in years, but i did yesterday and after getting home i remembered they used to do die on me nomatter how much water i gave them. I'll be on the lookout for soil and a rectangular new pot tomorrow seeing as it needs to go in the window.
Thanks for this video, I've been doomed my whole life at keeping plants alive, I just can't. I've even managed to kill my mint plant which amuses my mum no end because mint is ubiquitous. It makes so much sense now why I can't keep supermarket herbs alive longer than a few weeks, but why I can grow them from seed, feel a bit daft for not realising. Good video for complete beginners
I've just repotted the basil plant(s!!!), into four pots, one of them had two tiny new leaves, hopefully this will have saved it! Thanks again :) @@eliandkate
Your absolutely right, I'm one those that have struggled with supermarket herbs with failure, except for some rosemary which has become very woody with little yield. I have cut back the woody parts which seems to improved yield. Thankyou for sharing advice.
@@eliandkate Just enjoying a cold beer before re potting the herbs. Your right again, Rosemary woody but alive, Mint has got in all the other little pots, parsley is ok, chives have done well and spread, but thyme is my favourite and I have two plants that are really weak and straggly. I'll give them all their own pots a big as I have.
Ha ha ha you aren't meant to notice the difference lmao Yeah I actually had a plan to follow for this one as I wrote the blog post first. It's the whole filming thing when you are on your own and you pretty much only have one shot to do what you want to show..... it can be a bit tricky. I'd love a crew of helpers like some of the fancy youtubers have. Could go all cinematic B roll etc. Ha ha ha How are things going on your allotment? I saw the excitement of the greenhouse :)
@@eliandkate I tend to shoot about 3 takes of me saying things and messing them up and splice it all together in the edit at the end hahahaha. Could do with a bit more planning! Thankyou so much for asking! All is well at my plot at the moment, I think the main thing that I'm worried about is that I'm actually going to have too much space in the beds and not enough plants to grow!
I’ve just discovered your channel and can’t thank you enough for your advice..so clear and comprehensive!! I wondered what your advice would be for coriander? Does it follow the same principle as the basil?
welcome to our community :D ha ha ha I get asked a lot about coriander but I'm afraid I don't grow it as Kate HATES the flavour :D I've been told it's a real difficult one, but I'm afraid I have a rule that I don't give advice based on maybes... so if I don't have genuine experience of something I don't like to put out advice just to look good - I don't think it's fair to people :D Sorry, but why not have a go and see how it goes? That's always the best way to learn I think...
Fabulous! I will be replanting my basil and parsley tomorrow as per your wonderfully warm and entertaining video, as I use a lot of both. I already have a huge rosemary SHRUB in my back garden. I have 2 questions: Rosemary - she is HUUUUGE and woody. Should I prune her? Coriander - I can never get enough. How can I grow her from a shop bought? Can she grow in garden or just indoors? Thank you. I hope you find your dry shampoo! :) x
Oh, exciting stuff! With your rosemary, you can prune it and if you are in the UK this is a good time to do that. You want to prune it spring or early summer so that the plant has time to recover before it needs to prepare for the colder weather. You can either "hard prune" if you are wanting to completely reshape the bush. To do this, you can cut it back quite severely, but don't take more than a third off at any time, to allow the plant to continue creating food and be strong enough to recover. Or if you want to encourage it to grow new shoots, then you can take maybe 2 inches off the tips of the branches. With coriander, that's a whole different story. Coriander is a herb that doesn't always regrow after harvesting. I've never managed to get it to be particularly productive but other folks do seem to have success. Again, the pots you buy in the supermarket tend to have too many plants in there, so separate them out. It's the same rules as harvesting basil, but the plant responds a lot slower so you need to be very patient. You can grow coriander outdoors as it does prefer cooler temperature but the leaves are still quite tender, so protect it from the worst of the weather. I did get my dry shampoo thanks :)
Found your videos on You Tube Eli. Just binge watched over 30 of them . So interesting. Trying to gain as much info as possible as new Rhino greenhouse arriving week commencing 11 January 2021. Can't wait.
Oh Geraldine, I think this is the most exciting time, new greenhouse time :) Glad you're finding the videos useful, and there will be a whole lot more come spring:) Have you any thoughts yet on how you are going to use it?
@@eliandkate Havent ordered any staging yet as wasn't sure how to lay it out but thinking the collapsible ones you have as I'll be growing tomatoes so will need the height on one side. Watched your video where you planted 2 pepper plants. I had about 50 and got nothing. 😟 Now I know where I went wrong. Far too many in one pot. I didn't sacrifice any!! I'll be better informed this year. Looking forward to your new videos but will look for videos of yours that I've not seen yet. Thank you. x
Glad you enjoyed it... and my hair is driving me insane.... that video was last year... you should see it now :D But I'm booked in on wed for a hair cut :D
@@eliandkate i used to hate coriander until a friend refused to accept that I hate it. He made me a fish curry with coriander and I've been utterly obsessed ever since. I put piles and piles of it in my food.

Will be looking to your videos for some tips! Also love the fact your a Scottish youtuber!
thank you so much for this video, it's super helpful! Ive been wondering lately why all the herbs I buy seem to be a bit suicidal, they just used to die within days. I thought maybe the supermarkets make them so they don't have enough nutrients to survive for long (making people go back in to buy more). but now you've told me! I'll definitely have to try and seperate them next time I buy some. 🌿🌿 Also I'm excited for the giveaway!
Oh excellent. I'm glad the video might useful. I too succumbed to the ever dying basil for a few years until I started growing my own from seed. It took me a while to work out what was actually going on.
Thank u so much for ur store bought herbs tips. New subscriber here. I never managed to keep my store bought thyme alive. I did transfer to a bigger pot. But did not survive. Is it à bad thing to trim off right away once ur herb is home. I did just now. Thought it will help to bush it out. May be not right? Do u thing that I should not have done it. Please ur advise. Thank u so much.
I would let the plant get used to the new environment before doing any big prunes and even then, remember, NEVER take more than a third off the plant at any time
Thank you. I have been trying to do this for years, but my house generally ends up as a plant hospice. My Rosemary is happy, but I cant keep the coriander alive. I will try again using your method and see how it goes, thanks
I move it into my chilliegrow once it's a bit more stable. I grow my tender herbs, like basil, in my greenhouse. The chilligrow gives me an advantage that I can have multiple plants in one of the 6 litres pots because the watering and feeding is controlled. Doing that today in fact.
Hello Miss Eli i am so glad to found your channel, i have killed more Basil than anybody, but now! I know why! I just bought another one and i will divide and repot, maybe i won’t kill this poor thing! I thank you Miss Eli and God bless you and family.
Oh there’s so much you can grow if you have a sunny spot indoors. You get brilliant dwarf varieties of things I’m growing dwarf tomatoes, peas, green beans, broccoli 😀
@eliandkate any tips on growing a cherry tomato little plant? A coworker cut me a small piece from her garden, I put it in a small clay pot, place it on my windows ledge where I get a little sun depends of the direction of the sun that day. But some of the leaves are turning a little yellow at the tips. I don't know if I'm over watering or too much sun? 😕 my plants name is Frank. 😊
@DCnativeArtist well it sounds like Frank needs at least, fed 😀 So the problem with growing plants in pots is that it means they completely rely on us for all the food and water. So what Id do is instead of watering it lots over the week. I’d drench it…. Proper drench it, once a week with water and fertiliser. Making sure to follow the instruction for the dilution rate. You don’t need anything fancy, a standard tomato food from the supermarket will do the job. Also, even though they are dwarf plants, make sure they still have a decent pot, maybe 7 litres or a bit bigger.
You mentioned tarragon and that you couldnt find it in the supermarkets. I am growing both French and Russian tarragon from seed and, touch wood, they are doing well. I started them in the heated propagator and grow lights ... now they are stand alone and looking good ... hope that's of use
oh don’t worry, It took a wee bit longer to find the seeds because that video was in the first lockdown, but I got some :D Kept a plant going over winter as well.
The video was really helpful. I just got a little basil pott and I was afraid of ruined it. Since we are close to the winter time i it possible to leave it next to the heater so it can receive some of the heat?
I replanted shop bought herbs( into 1 1/2 _ 2 gal pot) as they were 🤦♀️ I wonder if I should separate and re- replant or leave alone. Any suggestions are greatdly aporeciated
Hey Liz, one of the biggest confusions in gardening :D We say soil because we're conditioned to refer to everything we grow in as soil, but in all honesty I never grow anything in soil as it is too heavy, compacts and have very little nutritional benefit for the plants. I have planted just using compost when I've been using small pots and I've not had anything else available (the joys of the last year), but generally I make my own potting mix to give my plants the best possible chance. I don't buy those ready make bags of mix or potting compost (what ever different companies label them) as they are crazy expensive and not worth the money. I did a video a few months ago on making your own mix if you want to try it, really simple: th-cam.com/video/F5gQusj_EIk/w-d-xo.html
You can also encourage bigger, bushier basil plants, watch this video next: th-cam.com/video/YBZLEuYasyY/w-d-xo.html

It makes so much sense now why I can't keep supermarket herbs alive longer than a few weeks, but why I can grow them from seed, feel a bit daft for not realising. Good video for complete beginners
Don’t feel daft at all how were to meant to know???
I've just repotted the basil plant(s!!!), into four pots, one of them had two tiny new leaves, hopefully this will have saved it! Thanks again :) @@eliandkate
thank you for this really informative - I just bought the plants and I will try it.
Good luck
I envy your greenhouse, great layout! 🌿
Thanks so much! 😊
Great info!! Felt confident to give this a go after watching
You can do it!
Commenting to show support from Australia! Thanks for this, will be sorting out my supermarket herbs with my little girls today.
Hey Amber
Lovely to have you with us 🙂
Will be. While yet before we can have herbs, a couple more months of winter weather 🥶🥶🥶
Great video. I love growing different herbs in my kitchen window 😁
Me too! I love herbs - my current favourite is french tarragon
Your absolutely right, I'm one those that have struggled with supermarket herbs with failure, except for some rosemary which has become very woody with little yield. I have cut back the woody parts which seems to improved yield. Thankyou for sharing advice.
No problem Giles. Hope it's useful :)
@@eliandkate Just enjoying a cold beer before re potting the herbs. Your right again, Rosemary woody but alive, Mint has got in all the other little pots, parsley is ok, chives have done well and spread, but thyme is my favourite and I have two plants that are really weak and straggly. I'll give them all their own pots a big as I have.
you've been busy.... earned that beer I reckon.
Another great video!! This is so useful.
Really impressed you manage to do these pretty much in one take as well, incredible!!
Ha ha ha you aren't meant to notice the difference lmao
Yeah I actually had a plan to follow for this one as I wrote the blog post first.
It's the whole filming thing when you are on your own and you pretty much only have one shot to do what you want to show..... it can be a bit tricky.
I'd love a crew of helpers like some of the fancy youtubers have. Could go all cinematic B roll etc. Ha ha ha
How are things going on your allotment? I saw the excitement of the greenhouse :)
@@eliandkate I tend to shoot about 3 takes of me saying things and messing them up and splice it all together in the edit at the end hahahaha. Could do with a bit more planning!
Thankyou so much for asking! All is well at my plot at the moment, I think the main thing that I'm worried about is that I'm actually going to have too much space in the beds and not enough plants to grow!
oh trust me.... that's only ever a short-lived problem :)
I’ve just discovered your channel and can’t thank you enough for your advice..so clear and comprehensive!! I wondered what your advice would be for coriander? Does it follow the same principle as the basil?
welcome to our community :D
ha ha ha I get asked a lot about coriander but I'm afraid I don't grow it as Kate HATES the flavour :D
I've been told it's a real difficult one, but I'm afraid I have a rule that I don't give advice based on maybes... so if I don't have genuine experience of something I don't like to put out advice just to look good - I don't think it's fair to people :D
Sorry, but why not have a go and see how it goes? That's always the best way to learn I think...
Thank you so much! This is so helpful. I've been killing parsley plants for years!
I'm glad this useful Emma. Gor me it's corriander. I just can't keep them going :)
First time watching. Love your channel. Thank you so much for the tips.
Oh thanks ebazile glad to have you with us
Fabulous! I will be replanting my basil and parsley tomorrow as per your wonderfully warm and entertaining video, as I use a lot of both. I already have a huge rosemary SHRUB in my back garden. I have 2 questions:
Rosemary - she is HUUUUGE and woody. Should I prune her?
Coriander - I can never get enough. How can I grow her from a shop bought? Can she grow in garden or just indoors?
Thank you. I hope you find your dry shampoo! :)
x
Endearing to watch and great feel. Very informative. Think I've found a new channel to watch!
😂😂😂 we’re glad to have you
@@eliandkate You're fantastic, feels like home!
Hi, from Dundas, Ontario, Canada. Thankyou for your very informative episode. I have learnt a lot from you!
That’s so fab it’s been useful 😍
Found your videos on You Tube Eli. Just binge watched over 30 of them . So interesting. Trying to gain as much info as possible as new Rhino greenhouse arriving week commencing 11 January 2021. Can't wait.
Oh Geraldine, I think this is the most exciting time, new greenhouse time :)
Glad you're finding the videos useful, and there will be a whole lot more come spring:)
Have you any thoughts yet on how you are going to use it?
@@eliandkate Havent ordered any staging yet as wasn't sure how to lay it out but thinking the collapsible ones you have as I'll be growing tomatoes so will need the height on one side. Watched your video where you planted 2 pepper plants. I had about 50 and got nothing. 😟 Now I know where I went wrong. Far too many in one pot. I didn't sacrifice any!! I'll be better informed this year. Looking forward to your new videos but will look for videos of yours that I've not seen yet. Thank you. x
I enjoyed that, thank you. You're a lovely lady and your hair is fab x
Glad you enjoyed it... and my hair is driving me insane.... that video was last year... you should see it now :D
But I'm booked in on wed for a hair cut :D

You’ll be fab… go for it 😂😂😂
As soon as she made the gateway drugs joke I subscribed. Oh how well can I relate 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love love your videos. thank you. Im in Texas so we have a lot of heat
S little bit of heat would be lovely but this spring has been our coldest on record
I love your accent it reminds me so much of my family up north. Xx
Oh cool!
Poor coriander didn't get a word in. Thanks for this info.
Coriander is a dirty word in our house 😂🤣😂🤣 Kate has that genetic thing where she absolutely can't eat it... like eating soap
@@eliandkate i used to hate coriander until a friend refused to accept that I hate it. He made me a fish curry with coriander and I've been utterly obsessed ever since. I put piles and piles of it in my food.
me and my partner have just bought our first greenhouse because my aloe Vera plant has sprouted to the point i can no longer keep them in the house so we have decided to start growing our own fruit and herbs aswell! Will be looking to your videos for some tips! Also love the fact your a Scottish youtuber!
ha ha ha you bought a greenhouse for your Aloe plant - that is awesome, but yup absolutely... make use of that new space :)
Thank you very much, super detail!
Very good video and it helps to know what to grow and what not to grow outside as I also live in Scotland 😁
Indeed Dan. So many disappointments until I learned that we weren't the same as Kent :)
Thanks for the tip! I might be able to save mine now :)
Fingers crossed Davedree! Let me know if you win!

Yay 👏👏👏👏
New sub here. Thanks for the great advice. I’m new to gardening ( helping with menopause/general aging gripes) This channel is wonderful. Thanks x
Nothing more life affirming than more middle aged ladies groaning and creaking in the garden 😍😍😍
I subscribed you the moment I started watching this video ❤
Welcome to the community
Wonderful video. Excellent!!!!!😊
Great video! I’ve just ordered a load of herbs on my shopping delivery. X
you can't beat having fresh herbs for cooking :) Having herbs near the kitchen door is what got me started.
thank you so much for this video, it's super helpful!
Just found your channel - just bought a greenhouse and looking forward to getting some hints tips and advice from the channel 👍 ATB.
Welcome aboard!
Coriander is a difficult one and loads of people ha e problems with it.
@@eliandkate thanks, that makes me feel a lot better 😊
Very informative video. Will you repot the basil into an even larger pot when the current pot becomes root bound?
I move it into my chilliegrow once it's a bit more stable.
I grow my tender herbs, like basil, in my greenhouse. The chilligrow gives me an advantage that I can have multiple plants in one of the 6 litres pots because the watering and feeding is controlled.
Doing that today in fact.
Hello Miss Eli i am so glad to found your channel, i have killed more Basil than anybody, but now! I know why! I just bought another one and i will divide and repot, maybe i won’t kill this poor thing! I thank you Miss Eli and God bless you and family.
Hope it's helpful :D
Thank you ...I am new to all of this ...trying to learn how to grow plabts in my little apartment with little sun.
Oh there’s so much you can grow if you have a sunny spot indoors.
You get brilliant dwarf varieties of things
I’m growing dwarf tomatoes, peas, green beans, broccoli 😀
@eliandkate any tips on growing a cherry tomato little plant? A coworker cut me a small piece from her garden, I put it in a small clay pot, place it on my windows ledge where I get a little sun depends of the direction of the sun that day. But some of the leaves are turning a little yellow at the tips. I don't know if I'm over watering or too much sun? 😕 my plants name is Frank. 😊
@eliandkate thank you by the way 🙏🏼
@DCnativeArtist well it sounds like Frank needs at least, fed 😀
So the problem with growing plants in pots is that it means they completely rely on us for all the food and water.
@eliandkate thank you for taking time to give me these tips so helpful. Frank has a chance now.
You mentioned tarragon and that you couldnt find it in the supermarkets. I am growing both French and Russian tarragon from seed and, touch wood, they are doing well. I started them in the heated propagator and grow lights ... now they are stand alone and looking good ... hope that's of use
oh don’t worry, It took a wee bit longer to find the seeds because that video was in the first lockdown, but I got some :D
Kept a plant going over winter as well.
@@eliandkate Well done!

Yay! Thank you!
The video was really helpful. I just got a little basil pott and I was afraid of ruined it. Since we are close to the winter time i it possible to leave it next to the heater so it can receive some of the heat?
Oh I wouldn't have it too near the heater - that can kill them. The main thing it will need is light.
you're a funny wee lass ....subbed
Really enjoyed that video, thank you! Just subscribed 😃
Glad you enjoyed it 😻😻😻
New one is out later today so you are just in time
Where are the best BASIL seeds to be found please. I want to grow basil indoors. Lots of them. Also rosemary and tarragon.
Most of the seed suppliers buy from the same folk so I’d say just buy from your local garden centre
I replanted shop bought herbs( into 1 1/2 _ 2 gal pot) as they were 🤦♀️ I wonder if I should separate and re- replant or leave alone. Any suggestions are greatdly aporeciated
See how it goes, just keep on top of water and nutrition 😍
Loved your video easy to follow I have subscribed
Glad to have you with us Heather
Hello from Wales! 🏴
Really helpful video, thanks!
Did you use soil or compost to re-pot the basil?
Hey Liz,
one of the biggest confusions in gardening :D
We say soil because we're conditioned to refer to everything we grow in as soil, but in all honesty I never grow anything in soil as it is too heavy, compacts and have very little nutritional benefit for the plants.
Hi, amazing video very clearly explained, just what I needed! What type of soil do you recommend? Or does it matter?
The compost itself can be any standard compost but if you can add a bit of drainage it would be great… vermiculite or even grit helps
love ur presentation
Thank you 😊
