Hey guys, I really want to thank you for this information. I purchased my 550E during "the dread" as I call it, and never got a lesson, and you both walking through the machine was a great help.
I use some invisible thread with metallic threads, this helps to support the metallic thread sometimes. I also like a Schmitz topstitch needles because they have a larger eye, so the thread is less likely to shred. Thread can get hot when travelling at high speed through the needle eye and deteriorate xxx
OH MY GOSH! Awesome video gentlemen. Thank you. I am a total newbie to embroidery and just got the 550e. I am quilter and things are so different in embroidery. You guys made the information so easy to understand. Muchas Gracias!
Hello to each of you. Congratulations with your new toy i'm very happy for you. The design ideas to create are endless. I purchased the one I have last year it is a remarkable designed machine that you will treasure. I also purchased a 20 thread spool holder by way of Amazon it is a amazing tool to have. Thank you for all the video's you create. Have a blessed life.
Hi Steven! It's Monday 8/21/23. I watched your 8/20/23 Steven and Walter Live this morning. I'm weighing my embroidery only machine options... Between yours and a Brother Innov-is model. Guess what came up on a 550 E unboxing? Yay!!! It's YOU 😊
Very informative video. Came for the 550e but got lots of helpful tips and information on embroidery in general. A perfect all in one video for me. Thank you so much! And the bag embroidery and cute little umbrella where amazing btw.
Can this machine, 550E relate to the 500E which I just bought. Love this video. Hopefully they are the same machine. I live in the USA and possibly that's the only difference.
Good evening from UK! I have to say this is one amazing video and your products guys are just amazing! I love them all! Love the idea of the pre winded robin fill. My machine is making noise when embroidering as if the bobbin is going to jump out and thread going to break so maybe those bobbins will do the trick. 🙂 Thank you for the fantastic video!
Hoping you won't mind me adding some information here, I am just saying my experience, I have been machine embroidering about 15 or more years and after trying many different needles I now use a topstitch 90/14 titanium needle for all my embroidering including metallics. I am not sure maybe the Janome only takes its own name brand needles, I have had great luck with the Superior brand. I have a Husqvarna Epic 2 and a Husqvarna Brillance 80 both dual machines but haven't any complaints. I use my machine minimum of 4-5 times a week. The titanium needles can be used longer than the regular needles.
Ho Guys, Thanks for al this info, was very helpful when I first got the machine. So after a year of use and no real issues i was re-watching the video here and would suggest a reason for turning off the "thread break" could be that mine anyway seems to frequently stop sewing and reports a thread break when the thread is not broken. I juts lift and lower the presser and re-start. It does always continue ok then until the next colour change stop when it may may not repeat the error. I may try with it turned off though and see what happens, of course if it then ignores a real thread break it will have to turned on again. Thanks again.
Great video, sound and lighting good. We really enjoyed and learned so much, would say it was like taking an online class, but they are never this interesting. We will actually refer back to this video in the future. Keep up the great work.
Brilliant !!!! I really enjoy your channel. Just watched the interview with Terry Rowland. The question of what or how many machines interested me because I have a vintage Elna which does not have the application to drop feed dogs. At the tender age of 82 i would like to purchase a machine not too expensive that drops feed dogs and can accommodate a walking foot. I was thinking of a Janome - any info or guidance would be appreciated. Perhaps you have made a video on this topic - i will scroll through in the meantime - I’m calling from South Africa 🌻
Thank you both so much for this very informative video. I really appreciate the time & effort you put into making this video for our benefit. You guys are amazing!
♥️Loving Stephen&Walter . Just bought this machine second . It’s as new as. Hardly used. Can I download more fonts? If so can you point me in that direction please? 🪡🧵🪡 Your video is just perfect for me . I want to THANK YOU ❤
No you can't this is an embroidery machine not a sewing machine so it does not have special decorative stitches. It follows the stitches for a pattern according to what is built into the embroidery file.
Just came home with my 550e yesterday and your video was excellent to get me started. It's my first embroidery machine. Can you recommend a US embroidery online shop and your list of additional supplies to purchase - e.g., spool stand, threads, needles, stabilizers, pre-wound bobbins, etc?
Go to embroideryonline.com/ and they have some good videos on what you mean what to purchase. I would not bother with extra thread stands, I use Floriani thread but there are others that are just as good, use either titanium needles or embroidery needs- any brand but I use Janome (check the manual for the size), there are many stabilizers you can use but I mostly use water soluble and tear away (here is a good site for picking these up- monfil.ca), I always use pre-wound bobbins (colours are limited but I usually use white for most projects- again best price is at monfil.ca- you can buy them in bulk- 144 for 25.99 or less Can$). I would suggest going to your dealer for a quick lesson or signing up for a class if your dealer has one.
If you have a 550 E it should have come with it- if you have a different model you probably cannot get one because it will not fit. Check with your Janome Dealer or go to their website.
Good video, learning lots of stuff. Having problems hearing Walter's comments though. Is he wearing a mic also, if not he needs one. I can hear Steven just fine. Hope to see more on the 550e in future videos. Thanks for sharing.
To my knowledge no- the largest hoop that came with your machine is the largest you can get but check out Janome.ca and do a search for the 500e and you should find an optional accessories list that will show you what is available.
I don't know much about Brother machines so I would recommend the Janome 550E. Here in Canada we do not have a lot of Brother dealers and from what I have heard, their customer service is not very good but then again that would depend upon you dealer.
@@RaiedSiddiqui I am not sure there is really anything I don't really like- well it would be nice if you could detach the embroidery arm from the machine for transporting it; otherwise it is so big and awkward to take it with you on a retreat or to a class. Maybe better lighting as well although that is not a major problem. That is all I can think of right now.
Thank you so much for the video!!! Glad to know about the Quebec firm with the threads, bobbins and stabilizers!!! ought a Janome 550E last year to replace my 350E and LOVE the upgrades!! Especially the hoop sizes!!!

Have you ever used Glide thread? Just found your videos

Fantastic video. I’ve had my 550E since last December and I’ve not opened it yet lol
I am trying to find the RB36e hoop and I am having trouble finding one.
Hi thank so much iam interested on jamone550 but is is butter than brother 380d
Great video I just bought the 550E and I’m just learning.
love love you guys , best video ever , also from canada
Great video, going to buy the 550e this week . What and where did you purchase the pre wound bobbins & stabilizer by the roll … thank you
I spoken about this site many times on my channel- go to monfil.ca they are a Canadian company.

Welcome to my channel Elizabeth and yes you will find several reviews of Janome machine in my playlists.
Love your passion and so helpful with so many areas of stitching out designs
Congrats for your new toy!
Thanks!
How to add the RE36b to my machine that is 3 years old and didn't come with it, I have bought it.
I guess twelve/tens is actually inches/metric units.
Great video. I needed this to make the buy.
Regards.
Hi, thank for the video... Can I do free motion quilting with this machine? Thanx :)
Saving my money for this machine

You can buy fonts from other embroidery sites- just google "embroidery fonts"
So glad I just found your channel. I am now subscribed 👍
Hi Brenda and welcome to my channel and I hope you enjoy it!
Interested to see the spool stand installed? You mentioned the 5 thread option but I don't think it fits?
Yup it fits.
@@theidiotquilter So right or sew right - I was sent the wrong Thread Stand :( but now I have the correct one and yes it fits. Thank you
Can you also do a stretch stitch or zig zag stitch with this? Like specifically for hemming a cotton t-shirt with kinda stretchy fabric?
No you can't this is an embroidery machine not a sewing machine so it does not have special decorative stitches. It follows the stitches for a pattern according to what is built into the embroidery file.

No you cannot- this machine is for only embroidery- however you can buy files for edge to edge quilting.
If you have a 550 E it should have come with it- if you have a different model you probably cannot get one because it will not fit. Check with your Janome Dealer or go to their website.
Very Informative and Interesting video
Good video, learning lots of stuff. Having problems hearing Walter's comments though. Is he wearing a mic also, if not he needs one. I can hear Steven just fine. Hope to see more on the 550e in future videos. Thanks for sharing.
Yes Walter needs a mic as well …looking into that
By any chance have you used the Elna 830l? I’m looking for a comparison.
Sorry I have not used the Elna 830I
that lonely treadmill…
I have the 500 e can I buy the largest hoop for the 550e to use on mine
To my knowledge no- the largest hoop that came with your machine is the largest you can get but check out Janome.ca and do a search for the 500e and you should find an optional accessories list that will show you what is available.
If you travel the 550E what case do you use
That is a good question- I don't - nothing I have fits it. You can buy on specifically for it from Janome but it is about $300 and it is big.
What’s the name for the tread company on that Walter please
Not sure what you are asking- do you mean monfil.ca ? That is where Walter buys his embroidery threads.
I am debating between the Janome 550e and Brother NQ600d.
Which one would you recommend? I am interested in embroidery only.

0.12 is appropriately 1/8”
Enjoy
I didn’t understand the name of the company from which you bought your stabilizer.
Hi Eyleen: the name of the company is monfil.ca
