    Fantastic, it was excellent watching you and Laurie working together.
    We decided not to come based on the SkySight forecast. I think the actual was better than the forecast in the end. You got to be in it to win it!

      Thanks! Yeah, it was only because Milk is fairly close for me that I bothered going out. I don’t think I’d have driven two hours say…

      Cheers Terry, I’ll try and do that on all my UK vids in future so that folk can see predicted vs. actual

    This is really usefull for me. I’m still a fresh pilot and not allowed to fly in thermals yet, so this is the closest I can get to learning. Your commentary helps med understanding how to chase thermals

    hello tim, great flight as always, one question what is that numeric counter that you have on top of the xc tracer? thank you

    • @TimPentreath
      @TimPentreath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The little device is a digital thermometer - you can’t see the decimal point. Coldest was 1.2°C I think. I bought it because there was some talk about when waiting on the hill for a thermal you can see the temp rise by a couple of degrees. Trouble was when it’s on your flight deck and you’re clipped in ready to go, it’s not easy to see, plus you’re looking for other clues - eg. birds, other gliders etc - rather than glancing down at the screen…

    Hi Tim, where can we get your vario sound configurations? And what is the little device above your xc tracer showing 46 and 48 at the end there? A compass? Cheers!

    What is the small LCD device on the top left of your flight deck? It looks like a small thermometer, in which case, how are you using it for flying?

    • @samtolton
      @samtolton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would also like to know this.

    • @TimPentreath
      @TimPentreath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was wondering who would ask that first 👏🏻
      It’s a small thermometer - someone added me to a group discussing thermals in far too much detail 🤓😂 so I bought a cheap digi thermometer in order to try to spot the temp rise before a thermal (whilst sitting on the hill). Needless to say I didn’t notice it as there were too many other things to look at whilst waiting rather than staring at a thermometer 😂 But it was interesting to see the air temp whilst flying - think 1.5° was the lowest

    • @harry-knight
      @harry-knight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimPentreath interesting idea. I would have thought that the hot air would arrive at the same time as the thermal cycle, but that there would be a bit of a lag time for the thermometer to react and so you'd see the grass moving before the recorded temp changed, but maybe I'm wrong about that.

    • @TimPentreath
      @TimPentreath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, I just use a foam "windslayer" around the GoPro itself
