Fantastic, it was excellent watching you and Laurie working together. We decided not to come based on the SkySight forecast. I think the actual was better than the forecast in the end. You got to be in it to win it!
This is really usefull for me. I’m still a fresh pilot and not allowed to fly in thermals yet, so this is the closest I can get to learning. Your commentary helps med understanding how to chase thermals
The little device is a digital thermometer - you can’t see the decimal point. Coldest was 1.2°C I think. I bought it because there was some talk about when waiting on the hill for a thermal you can see the temp rise by a couple of degrees. Trouble was when it’s on your flight deck and you’re clipped in ready to go, it’s not easy to see, plus you’re looking for other clues - eg. birds, other gliders etc - rather than glancing down at the screen…

Hi Tim, where can we get your vario sound configurations? And what is the little device above your xc tracer showing 46 and 48 at the end there? A compass? Cheers!

I was wondering who would ask that first 👏🏻 It’s a small thermometer - someone added me to a group discussing thermals in far too much detail 🤓😂 so I bought a cheap digi thermometer in order to try to spot the temp rise before a thermal (whilst sitting on the hill). Needless to say I didn’t notice it as there were too many other things to look at whilst waiting rather than staring at a thermometer 😂 But it was interesting to see the air temp whilst flying - think 1.5° was the lowest
@@TimPentreath interesting idea. I would have thought that the hot air would arrive at the same time as the thermal cycle, but that there would be a bit of a lag time for the thermometer to react and so you'd see the grass moving before the recorded temp changed, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
Hi Tim! Thanks again for sharing this great video!! I‘ve got a question: what kind of small pencil are you using for your iPhone? I‘m just looking for one but can‘t find any that fits… thanx!!

Thanks! Yeah, it was only because Milk is fairly close for me that I bothered going out. I don’t think I’d have driven two hours say…
Your debriefs are par excellence
Cheers Russell!
Hi Tim, thanks for sharing and for the fantastic weather debrief at the end there, I found that really useful for future flight planning👍
Cheers Terry, I’ll try and do that on all my UK vids in future so that folk can see predicted vs. actual

Thanks, 🤞🏻 you’ll progress quickly and soon be up there chasing thermals!
Hello Tim. Really enjoyed your video.
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing. Very nice landscape and superbe flying obviously. Congrats!
Thanks Franz 👍🏻👍🏻
That’s where I learnt to paraglide! Fond memories of walking up that hill multiple times in a day! 😅
Haha, happy days!
Nice flight Tim, thanks for sharing.
Cheers Charlie
1:29am - enjoyed the video and commentary mate so wishing you lots more for the rest of 2022.
Cheers mate, fingers crossed... wishing you good flights too!
Nice flight!
Thanks! 👍
Just milking it at Milk, love it.
This has been a good start of the season 👌
Great video Tim. A struggle to get down 😂☝️
Haha, yes, I cut out the losing height bit as I didn’t want to make it too obvious where I landed… 😉
Another great video!
Thanks Bill
just spectacular!! 😎😎
Thanks Ben, not quite the scenery you’re used to, but I thought I’d start the process of breaking you in gently to UK a flying 😂
@@TimPentreath I guess “the grass is always greener”! Looks epic, can’t wait 😎
That was great! Wow you guys have freedoms to fly so far without airspace restrictions etc. I'm in the wrong country ;)
Wow, I thought we had it quite tough! Where are you based?
hello tim, great flight as always, one question what is that numeric counter that you have on top of the xc tracer? thank you

@@TimPentreath awesome! Thanks for the info.
What is the small LCD device on the top left of your flight deck? It looks like a small thermometer, in which case, how are you using it for flying?
I would also like to know this.

Hi Jens, I buy them in packs of 10 for about £2 from eBay - just search for "iPhone capacitive stylus"
I hope your sky will cross the Channel, only blue sky for the moment, we're waiting for some of your fluffy clouds !
Have they arrived yet?
@@TimPentreath Yes, today ! I'm not one of them but some good xc have been done here !
Another random question, but how do you get clean audio in flight? Do you run an external mic to the gopro?
Nope, I just use a foam "windslayer" around the GoPro itself
