This was such a wonderfully fun and joyful episode, hours after watching the first time, I returned and watched it again! I love everything about this video: the trains; the joy; the witnessed unity; and the lasting “only in South Africa” legacy! Great reporting!❤
My great grandfather worked for Spoornet now known as Transnet. As a little boy I had a privilege of riding a steam locomotive from Newcastle station to Majuba station in 1993. it was a very scenic routes, Northern Natal is very beautiful. Maybe one day they’ll be a trains going up & down from all metros to small towns in South Africa
In Waterval Boven there about 6 steam trains there just sitting there, people have been breaking it down for scrap. They should be sent to this place to be preserved.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤let it continue once again in South Africa . it's remaining previous and psresent generation to future generations ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤it's makes us encourage tremendously ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
before steam we used electricity now we use diesel in the land before time there was cables today we have the gravy train but thats just for now someone is building his house on the tracks
I hope it can attract some tourism income. What with load shedding though, and our ongoing reliance on coal, I'd not be surprised to see steam making a comeback ;-)
We should see women and girls up there, they did not have those opportunities shared however, there were and are girls and women interested and in a small number of places active. They may stay passionately on or may be eager to move on to modern diesels from what is learned. On a video from elsewhere, a woman asked several times if she could join the crew and she's a permanent member running steam, its her passion. Another video has a woman and tge video provider said she had gone to deisels. As we should always comment respectfully under all these videos which this and some other video providers rightfully expect, there may be more reason for everyone keeping things right all around if we see more women active, and normalize everywhere women and girls following in their parents' and grandparents' footsteps. I hope this will become an action plan where this video was done, add daughters to the experience and open to women learning and doing what they love to do. 😊
More than the 200+ cars on the road replacing just 1 train? Nevermind the destruction on the roads by trucks transporting the trains cargo which leads to infrastructure deterioration meaning tar, more diesel burned to repair the road?
