  • Do you need sturdy plant supports? I show you how to make your own plant supports for your cottage garden plants and perennial flowers that may start to flop. This is a budget-friendly way to DIY plant supports that are easy and blend in when placed among your flowers.
My flowers tend to start leaning towards the sun, we are surrounded by tall conifers, and as the season edges closer to Fall the sun stays lower in the skies and behind the trees. This causes the plants to flop over when I want them to stand tall.
These supports just blend into the surroundings and are unobtrusive. Why pay more than you need for something that won't really be seen. These also work for plants that get buffeted by wind and rain.

Brilliant!! Next year everything is going to look so much better! Lots of flopping was happening around here 🤦‍♀️.

Tell me about it! I need to make a dozen more of these, so much flopping but I struggle with the sun going behind the trees and plants reaching for the sun so it is what it is. Thankfully this is relatively inexpensive.

Thanks a million. This is terrific. I have loads of this wire left over from fencing ... now I have a use for it. Delighted.

It is a great feeling to be able to repurpose something that may have been tossed out. Especially for such a worthwhile cause as supporting our favorite plants.

Here on Vancouver Island, I had cut Irish Spring into chunks, to then drill holes through which I threaded twine to hang them. It's worked amazingly.
Love your cage tip. Heading out to yard right now to lift my daisies. ugh, sprinkler watering has flattened them. xo
Thank you:) love your garden space, btw. xo

Thank you. Now that my flowers are really starting to get growing (heat wave) I found many that need some more support.

Great idea, especially love the lily support. I thought about cattle panes but that’s better😃

My fencing around my garden is cattle or hog panels but the re-mesh is a bit less expensive and, for me, a little easier to work with. You can also buy it in larger rolls which makes it much less per square foot but I don't need that much.

I have been trying to figure out what to stake my flowers with. This is excellent!

Glad it was helpful! I know, I failed to show how to curve it but it is easy enough I am sure most can figure it out.

Love this idea! I hated the idea of using floral netting in my flower bed, and individual stake tying sounds like a pain

Plz, plz do tell what deer repellent you use? Going to use the concrete panel for my tomato plants next year- thanks for sharing!

I have used Deer Out, it uses Peppermint Oil as the deterrent and it doesn't stink like the urine based ones do. Here is a link to the one I have: amzn.to/3NwvmNg
You probably can find it at a local hardware or home improvement store too.

Hi there can you tell me what gauge wire you are using please?

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse  ปีที่แล้ว

The remesh or concrete panels I make the supports from at 10 gauge, I believe.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Thanks for your reply, it is good to know the gauge. I know that concrete mesh we get here is 6mm which would be thicker and not as bendy. I will have to see if I can get 10mm.
