I spent several years looking at Open Hole logs back in the late 00's while working for Halliburton and Weatherford as a log analyst. And I just drove thru there again last week. You really opened my mind. Thanks.
Thank you for helping me read the history of the Raton Basin through the exposed geology. For perspective and additional clarity, I would have appreciated some mention of how long each of the geological changes you discussed took.
Now after that 'nice' spiel, how about looking at the 'big' picture. According to Genesis, from the 'Begats', the Flood was in the year 1625, aka no rain. Then incorporate the Wilkes Land impact, Bedout impact and Vredefort impact.
Colorado and New Mexico. Raton is a town in New Mexico, and it my be that the basin was named for it. The video was shot on the Colorado side of the border.
