    The best thing about the video was the laughter and joy. Greetings from Germany.

      Hey, thanks, Aaron. We can't make everyone happy, but a few will do. Enjoy.

    Awesome! Loved the hang time before it took off.... allows one to savor those whistles full on! (For a second there I thought it wasn't going to take off, then it did) Phenomenal!

    That was really funny :) you can always tell a man loves his work when it makes him this happy, well done that was a nice entertaining Girandola Ned.

    The noise alone was fantastick!

    ned is truly the master ! it has to burn off some fuel weight on the pad at first to lose enough to balance the upforce then off it goes! what a magic balance of rocket design, size, fuel load vs thrust , probably end burner for such a long duration burn , so nozzle design/size comes into the equation , fuel burn speed too , weight of componets , just to get that dramatic slow take off with increasing accelleration as it looses weight , ned's dola's are something special , works of pyrotechnical art and math! but from my experience a lot of trial and error too is involved, some epic cato's and failed launches , and there is always one that gets a mind of its own , turns mid air and comes back STRAIGHT AT YOU!

      Thanks, Pete. I do enjoy getting that balance just right. Fun devices.

      A Girandola needs time to spin up to gain lift. It is the spinning centrifugal force and rocket lift that allows it to go up.

    "One thing I am sure of, it is going to be loud."
    A bit like my first attempt at a 3/4" motor. The burn time was, estimated, about 0.5 seconds and it was very loud indeed.
    The impulse must have been pretty good as the motor burried itself 2/3'rds of the way down in my lawn...I never found the nozzle, it may have achieved orbit but without tracking capability I am not sure.

    • @colspyro
      @colspyro 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 1lb whistle drivers on a wheel, painfully loud..only did it once ;)

  • @cptkirkpyro5656
    @cptkirkpyro5656 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    that was awesome. but was the angle of the motors too much? i think that maybe why it sat for a bit before taking off.
    Still a great build.

    • @cptkirkpyro5656
      @cptkirkpyro5656 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      or do you guys not use a wheel bearing on your launcher?

    • @nedgorski
      @nedgorski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, that worked exactly as designed and intended. It had to lose about half the propellant weight before it was light enough to fly. Perfect. There was just a little angle to the motors.

    • @213BRANDONP
      @213BRANDONP ปีที่แล้ว

      Folks dont seem to realize how unimpressive they are if they take off too fast if he wanted that he would have used much smaller drivers

  • @normellow

    Put a 60 degree angle on those center support bars. It should help create lift . Cheers

    Talai thailand

    • @nedgorski
      @nedgorski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We really enjoyed seeing the Talai and Bang Fai fly in Thailand. Huge machines. But, a Talai is not a girandola. They are hoop-stabilized single-tube-motor tourbillions. Great, impressive machines, for sure.

    I'd be laughing my ass off if my wheel flew way up there....but crying Crocodile tears if it didn't flew up that high..compared to a small buzzbomb....I notice when it doesn't take off in seconds till half it's weight is burned away..then it has the " oof" to TAKE OFF !!!

    • @nedgorski
      @nedgorski  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, that was the idea, Robert. Fun device to make.
