An important omission here: Crockett was involved in the Creek War alongside Jackson. He was reputed to have been alienated from Jackson's Indian-hating because of a massacre during the war. That crucial early interaction colors their entire relationship. Jackson was politically ruthless, and Crockett's opposition to Indian removal (the Trail of Tears is only one tribe of the 5 major tribes affected, BTW) meant that he became alienated from the administration. So it's important to connect the Creek War to Crockett
Oceania!! Do the "Black War" -- the war between colonialists and aboriginals in Tasmania. I dont know too much about this conflict, but I would love to learn.
Oooh. South America! You can do it on the Guayaquil Conference. Always wanted to know what happened there that made José de San Martin pack up and leave everything to Simon Bolivar.
SOUTH AMERICA AND FRANCISCO DE MIRANDA!!!! That guy lived an epic life! Revolutionary pre-Bolivar, had an affair with Catherine the Great, knew many founding fathers, friends with the Wellesley's in England, please please talk about him!
You should do a semi-crossover between South America & the United Kingdom...look into the 1980s with the Falkland Wars and, perhaps, how it is able to shape Britain’s modern-day politics.
At first I thought vox was like buzzfeed but after meeting the engineers that run buzzfeed I can confidently say it's nothing similar. I love vox videos
Fess Parker who portrayed Davy Crockett was paid scale and did not receive residuals from syndication. Disney stiffed him royally. Also he was typecasted which limited his career He made his money from buying land that later became LA.
I think Davy Crockett was a good man who's herorism was to fight off what he believed was a tyrant. Crockett served with Jackson during the War of 1812 and saw how he horribly treated the Indians. Crockett knew Native American culture well since he would talk with them all the time when hunting. He also didn't like how Jackson treated him and his other volunteers. He didn't give them food, so he led volunteers to find some by disobeying orders to not leave camp.
I don’t imagine Crockett actually wore his frontier outfit during his last stand at Fort Alamo like the paintings depict. Pretty odd attire to wear during a siege battle in the middle of the desert if you ask me.
I would honestly suggest doing the independence movements in South America in general, because while the players and figures are all larger than life, they all eerily play out in the same manner weather it is Bolivia, Columbia, Uruguay, Brazil etc.
"Leander Starr Jameson" and his uncanny capacity to get his name on things, he's the Forrest Gump of late imperial british history - Africa, you should do Africa next (🙏🏾)
I love this! I recently learned I'm related to Davy Crockett and I was barely taught about him in school. This video was a good base for me to start my research. Thank you guys! Also, you're both adorable :)
Hey Vox! Can we please have a schedule from you for the different series you upload (Ex. Darkroom every X day or Almanac every Y day). Thankyou! Btw, love your videos.
9:26 It is highly unlikely that Davy Crockett was one of the men captured. They were taken in a room of a building. Crockett's station was defending the barricade around the low wall. It would have been very difficult for him to get inside and in to a room. The Mexican officer who recorded in his journal that one of the prisoners was Crockett does not say that he heard the man identify himself as such, or that he knew Crockett on sight. He simply says that the man was tall and good looking and he therefore concluded that it must have been Crockett. If the prisoners were at all interrogated before being murdered there is no record of it. Crockett was well known in his day, and it was known that he was among the defenders, but no one ever recorded any of the prisoners actually being identified as him. I'll tell you right now, it wasn't.
Antarctica gets my vote. The south pole expeditions. Mapping the land mass vs the Antarctica shelf. The mystery behind all its fiction works, especially Lovecraft.
When you get back on American history, I would love to see the Chicago World Fair and it's impact after 1893. Introduced AC vs DC Titans Edison and Tesla, mass refrigeration, the first automobiles, and many other inventions that took us out of the industrial revolution toward the modern age. Thanks again for your dedication to this channel.
Antarctica has some great exploration and survival stories, there’s still historical explorers whose bodies have never been found. But also one of you need to do a Johnny Appleseed episode after this one.
Fascinating and genuine attempt to try to understand who Davy Crockett was and what was behind his actions. Thank you! Even if I don’t know if I fully agree with all the conclusions...
Pick Africa! My primary school library had a David Crockett illustrated children's book and I could never wrap my head around how a story about a man hunting bears in snowery Winters made it all the way to rural South Africa. The concept of a raccoon hat sends shivers down my spine!
Africa is a must! So many stories from thousands of cultures spanning millennia. Many of which is underrepresented not just in the West but in general.
I've been to Japan a couple of times for work. And both times I wanted to go out and explore all around. Unfortunately I was sent in typhoon season. Didn't give me a lot of free time to explore, when heavy rain, floods, and heavy winds keep you in your hotel.
Somebody mentioned South America and the banana republics and I agree that would be a great topic. I don't think many Americans have ever heard of the banana Massacre.

He didn’t leave his home "for fun". His father sold him into servitude to pay off debts and he reportedly fought with all his might to get back home.
The world may never know
Clowns
You should do Oceania, specifically because the history of its designation as a "continent" is already interesting
it's a french geograph who propose it
Oceania
Nick Major I like how you used the correct term of Oceania and not Australia
Nick Major read my mind. I nominate Oceania as well.
@@irving2828 there is no correct terms for the designation of continents
Oceania!! Do the "Black War" -- the war between colonialists and aboriginals in Tasmania. I dont know too much about this conflict, but I would love to learn.
ooo yes, this would be good!
@@Xidnaf Wow. This is so strange. I am a big fan! I can't believe I got your endorsement lol.
Well you know more than me, because I'd never heard of this before.
@@Xidnaf :O is it thee Xidnaf?!
Africa, rarely stories on this continent on vox
Jean Jacques Sauvanet okay?
@@IdiotBoxProductionsTV
What do you mean okay? His comment is easy to understand
@Clay Chiarelott Africa has a ton of documented history.
Wrong
The earliest explorers would be really fun. Such as Livingston.
Oooh. South America! You can do it on the Guayaquil Conference. Always wanted to know what happened there that made José de San Martin pack up and leave everything to Simon Bolivar.
South America, I agree. commenting to move it up.
Agree 100% . Very interesting how this two massive figures of South American history met and what happened.
He was threatened d to be assassinated that's why
Yes please!!

SOUTH AMERICA AND FRANCISCO DE MIRANDA!!!! That guy lived an epic life! Revolutionary pre-Bolivar, had an affair with Catherine the Great, knew many founding fathers, friends with the Wellesley's in England, please please talk about him!
the revolutions podcast by mike duncan talked a lot about him in the latin american revolutions part of the series
@@prazzlerazzle5565 you have no idea how excited I was when the Bolivar series came out and he went of Miranda. Duncan did the world a favor there.
@@Jon.A.Scholt defo one of the best podcasts out there, Bless Mike
Davy Crockett hated Andrew Jackson? I like him already!
Africa, it would be interesting to see your take on the "Dahomey Amazons" who were the inspo for the Dora Milaje in Black Panther
Also the Maasai people of Kenya were an inspiration for the Black Panther
I love this concept! Bring on more History Club, Vox!
I'd like for you to do a story from the African continent
In Texas, he’s just the star of the Alamo. That’s it.
Yes that what I know him for the Alamoooooo
Born and raised
You should pick a story from Africa
You could do Venus Hottentot from Africa
Nope Noparty: Why?
King Kunta. He was the ancient version of DJango. :)
Anglo-Zulu war is very interesting.
Wildwhiteboobies 5000 That’s what war is. So, yes. Doesn’t mean it isn’t fascinating & informative.
How does Davy Crockett want his story?
A real biography, with hunting and banking!
You should do a semi-crossover between South America & the United Kingdom...look into the 1980s with the Falkland Wars and, perhaps, how it is able to shape Britain’s modern-day politics.

Talk about South America. Suggestion: Bolivar and San Martin encounter in the Independence Wars
South America is an untapped treasure chest of good storys.
That would be cool
Yeah. South America and Mexico are full of interesting stories. Truly underrated part of the globe.
Yes! This specifically!!
I would honestly suggest doing the independence movements in South America in general, because while the players and figures are all larger than life, they all eerily play out in the same manner weather it is Bolivia, Columbia, Uruguay, Brazil etc.
Given. He did not become “this” American hero.
He became a Texan hero. A Lone Star hero first.
Remember the Alamo.
Do Scandinavia and The Nils Dacke Feud!!!
"Leander Starr Jameson" and his uncanny capacity to get his name on things, he's the Forrest Gump of late imperial british history - Africa, you should do Africa next (🙏🏾)

Cool I’m also related to Davy Crockett:)
I'm Peruvian, so I vote for South America, but Africa also doesn't get enough love, so either of those would make me happy! Thanks, love the vids!!
I love this show! I'm glad it's back. You should do a video about South America.
I choose the continent of Atlantis
South America, please!
I think they should have put davy on the 20 doller bill instead of andrew jackson
SOUTH AMERICA! The San Martin - Bolivar encounter would be amazing indeed.
I watched those Disney movies religiously as a kid. And when we went to DisneyWorld in the 90s they were still pushing the Davy stuff.
Do Antartica! And make it something unique
there is an interesting piece on Vox about Antartica. Go and check it out
We do not learn about Antarctica much. All we know is penguins live there.
It's kinda cool having a famous relative

Europe, do an episode on Europe
Antarctica gets my vote. The south pole expeditions. Mapping the land mass vs the Antarctica shelf. The mystery behind all its fiction works, especially Lovecraft.
Either Australia/Oceania, or the Indian Subcontinent

Do it on the Brazilian Monarchy and slaves emancipation by Princess Isabel.
Is history club still happening? I like the format.
Antarctica has some great exploration and survival stories, there’s still historical explorers whose bodies have never been found. But also one of you need to do a Johnny Appleseed episode after this one.
I mean I know it’s not necessarily a continent but LATIN AMERICA would be dope !!
Love to hear something on Oceania/Australasia. However one defines that area of the world.
I didn't even know he was actually real. American folklore is so well written for the most part that it's hard to tell
He's a Texas hero, we're taught about him in elementary school
Yep, hes my distant cousin
"50% of us know what we're talking about" so 50% more than the average comment?
Video is more about Andrew Jackson than Davy Crockett
Well both of their histories are connected
South East Asia would be interesting as next Topic Continent
Please do one from Africa
Do Australia/Oceania!
Nice one. This format is starting to shape up!
Such a lack luster story of Davy Crockett.
Well we all know he was born on a mountaintop in Tenneseee, the greenest state in the land of the free.
Australia. Plenty of untold stories there, Tony Robinson did a good show on that
I love Tony.. I'm gonna look that up, somehow I missed it I think. Thanks
Your videos are awesome. TY guys!!!
Not a continent, but the Caribbean.
...Or South America.
Will there be more History Club? I only saw 5 episodes, and it's so good. Please make more.
Fascinating and genuine attempt to try to understand who Davy Crockett was and what was behind his actions. Thank you! Even if I don’t know if I fully agree with all the conclusions...
Can you do Oceania? My continent is not talked about very often unless it is about sports/natural disasters.
South América, when the US instaled various dictatorial regimes in the cold war
Interesting conversation! I’m from David Crockett’s hometown. His home is still there to visit!
Not a continent but, do China and the boxers rebellion and how the U.S Marine Corps was involved.
South Africa! Also love this series, great work :)
Hi, amazing show.
Please talk about South America. Thanks.
Pick Africa! My primary school library had a David Crockett illustrated children's book and I could never wrap my head around how a story about a man hunting bears in snowery Winters made it all the way to rural South Africa. The concept of a raccoon hat sends shivers down my spine!
Can you do a subject on the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom ? Or China's past history in general
Please do Australia! We have some fantastic stories!
Being from Texas, we learned about Mr Crockett in History class.. "Remember the Alamo"..
Luis Rivera yee haw 🤠🤠
Pangea, the super continent that keeps on giving. Did you know Pangea was the fist continent to invent ice cream, also tea! What a land of contrasts!
ANTARCTICA. Do Leonid Rogozov, the Russian doctor who removed _his own appendix!_
Africa is a must! So many stories from thousands of cultures spanning millennia. Many of which is underrepresented not just in the West but in general.
Because he was a real man!!! Never apologized because he hurt somebody feelings, oh and because he was a Republican!!!!
He is a real American hero!!!!

Asia. (South East, specifically.)
David Crockett is my hero so I consume any material about him. As soon as your video came up in my recommended feed I clicked.
South america pleaseeee
Good information. Love this channel!
Tell a tale from south america if you will! Muchas gracias Vox!
This is pretty cool you guys!
...why not the history of continental configurations??
You should do an episode on Scandinavia or Northern Europe. Iceland, Scotland, Norway, all have very deep interesting histories :)
No idea who he was, but thanks for information anyway :)
I love this series. I love history.
That build up of the suspense of opening that package was well done!
How about Antarctica? It's interesting as is. If you could find some old story about it, that would be very interesting.
Oceania, but not Australia (unless it's the Great Emu War)!
You guys should do an episode on Africa! There's so much history that's been hidden from us.
If like to see something on Australia or the pacific Islands. I don’t hear much history from that part of the world.
South America PLEASE
1st Africa, 2nd S. America, and 3rd Asia (South)
Okay TH-cam, I finally watched this my life will be full of success from now.
Born on a mountain top in Tennessee, killed him a bear when he was only three
Somebody mentioned South America and the banana republics and I agree that would be a great topic. I don't think many Americans have ever heard of the banana Massacre.
Davey Crockett is my 7th great grandfather and this taught me a lot about him
The best caps are the skunk ones in the Alamo, and the Raccoon ones with the face on.
South América!!
Cool that this is a real conversation. Love this.
