    The Owl scene was powerful! I had my money on you and Wyatt. I was routing for Wyatt but I was happy you won.❤

    Hi Alan, I just got through watching the finale episode for the 2nd time. I also watched the last segment from when you got the Med Check signal, 2 or 3 times. I really enjoyed sharing that experience with you and your wife reuniting, and you sharing with her your top experiences, as well as your parting thoughts. As a teacher, it was inspiring what you said to your students. I liked all the changes you said you would have made on this video. Other future contests on Alone should take note. 😊

    Was very happy to see you get the win. Really inspired by your mindset and abilities throughout. My girlfriend and I were hoping you’d take it the whole time. Sorry to see Mikey & Wyatt have to lose, all 3 of you guys were so easy to root for. Congratulations 🙏🏼

    Thank you Alan. Very very good pointers! Yep, I wondered about the size of the teepee, and since warm air rises, how do you keep it warm etc? Congratulations. And, you were able to keep some sense of humor to the end. That was amazing. It was a nail biter for us between you and Wyatt. We wanted you both to win. We live in Grass Valley CA not far from Woniya, and were so happy also for our hometown girl as she won last year Alone: Frozen. Alone, by far, is the best show on TV! A true testament to the strengths of the body, mind .. and spirit. So inspiring. Again, congratulations.

      That was great Alan! I am curious about how the secret of you winning was successfully kept! Did your kids know? Will there be a point when you meet up with any or all of your fellow contestants for a reunion? Thanks again Alan. Oh, our kids all say “hello & congrats”! And Craig only refers to you as ‘Mr. Tenta’

    Would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear or a man?Well, if the man is Alan then definitely him!
    The two finalists were epic! Loved the positivity, your appreciation for the land and wildlife, and your mindset just proves how strong you are! Plus the Canadian dad humor was spot on. Congratulations on winning ! Well deserved, and thanks for all these videos!

    I guess I'm a bit late to the party BUT... I just finished watching season 10 and have been so inspired by YOU! I work as a trauma nurse/ river guide and am from WA state originally. I cannot imagine being so far north at that time of year with those elements.
    I second all the statements made about you and Wyatt as finishers and how much your positive mindsets resounded throughout the season. I cannot imagine the sense of accomplishment you and your family must feel. What an incredible challenge and story of success. I am most impressed by how level-headed you were as you worked through challenges. Thank you for continuing to share your expertise, spirit, and thoughts with all of us. The interaction you had with the Owl and the connection to your father is incredible.
    P.S. I also found it hilarious that your last comment before your wife appeared was about what you would do for a bag of Dorito’s hahaha. Cheers, Alan!

    If you ever have a minute, would be nice if you could make a video about how to make such a fishing spool with the tools you had... Yes, I'm far from being a survivalist but it's something I have no clue about. Congrat on your win.

    Excellent tips!! I wondered as well about how the smoke draft was working in the teepee and the hand-reel for fishing. Great videos. Thanks for sharing your experiences!!

    Thanks for the sharing. Im with you on the high angle shots for grouse, its a very risky and challenging. I believe Clay made arrows for these shots. Footage never made the show.
    Question, did you have a fishing station of some kind, or you just casted until you got tired?
    Would you...? Taken a gamble and not braught the bow, focus more on fishing? Easy to say afterwards guess.. Not sure the items to swap.

    • @alantenta9825
      @alantenta9825  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment. I fished whenever the weather permitted; I would not consider leaving the bow at home. I would hate to miss an opportunity at big game.

    I haven't fished in years, and I've turned into a suburban person over the course of my life, so please forgive if this is a dumb question. Is it feasible to take three regular fish hooks and twist them together with pliers and wire somehow to make an ad hoc treble hook?

    • @alantenta9825
      @alantenta9825  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not a dumb question at all; I tried to do this exact thing, but could not get the wire tight enough to hold them in place as a treble hook. My snare wire was just too thick.

    Hi Alan i watch the show! I correctly predicted that one of the Canucks would win. I rooted for you alot and I like the the other bloke too cause he was a complete reformed hard drinking hard living down to earth character.
    Good job! Thanks for the teepee and bed height info. I wondered about the teepee updrafts.

    I like to be toasty warm when I am sleeping. Like you, I prefer a square bag even though it may not be as warm. My thoughts on some of the temperature ratings is that the values they claim are such that I would not die if it was that cold outside, but I would also not be warm enough.

  • @luketheolsen
    @luketheolsen ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Do you think treble hooks would have snagged more?
    You would have loved my sleeping bag! -60 Square with custom overstuffing on the bottom.

    Huge congratulations to you on your well-deserved victory this season!! You're a real trooper and did your family, your students, and Canada proud!
    Regarding your afterthoughts, I too was curious why some contestants made makeshift fishing rods and others used hand casting. I was so nervous when you dropped your spool into the water! 😬
    One question I've always had about Alone contestants is, do they allow you to wear contact lenses? I can't imagine that being feasible in cold temps and unsanitary conditions, but you don't see contestants wearing glasses often either.
    Finally, I want to compliment your superb communication skills; I'm guessing a lot comes from decades spent delivering your lesson plans in a manner to keep students engaged, but no doubt the 5+ weeks spent filming your documentary had a positive effect on this as well. As a former teacher and TH-camr, I notice and admire skills like this. Bravo.
    Oh, and thanks for the gun show. 🤣

    Hey Alan, Congratulations on your W. I think you were one of the best contestents Alone has had (and Wyatt was also!, go Canada!). I'd love to see a dedicated video on how you planned the size/structure of your teepee. Also you mentioned maybe a plug in the roof. Even if the fire was mostly out, would you have had issues with smoke if you did that?
    Interesting you say you wish you'd made a hand reel. I wondered about that. But.... you did great with the fishing!

    • @alantenta9825
      @alantenta9825  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, I would have to douse it and bury the coals in sand or something to eliminate the smoke beforehand. Thanks for the comment!

    The handcasting from that beautiful rock has been so iconic / great shots and throws, all in all really memorable. The happiness you screamed was so real. Interesting to know that you think it could have done better, I wonder how you mean about this handcasting stick-structure, if you'll make a video that would be so great to watch! & be sure to shoot it from a similar angle.
    And the tipi was so great. I also wondered about a flap/cover, but then I stopped thinking knowing I was at home safe and wouldn't know any better

    Great insights into what you'd change.
    I always wondered about the open top nature of a teepee and how that would affect things.
    Maybe the -40 sleeping bag would be fine for someone that isn't having rapid weight-loss like you were experiencing out there.
    Taking the gloves on and off again would be a pain for sure especially the ones you had.
    The good news is that all these things didn't hold you back from winning😁

    These critiques could really help someone in a future contest. Got to give the devil his due when it comes to the details. It seems the longer contestants got into the contest a small misstep here or there had a profound effect. Not adequately protecting one's resources, having an inadequate shelter or seeing it go up in flames, enduring injuries, lack of sleep, starvation, then there is the loneliness aspect . . . anyway, good information!
