I just recieved mine today, i skimmed over it and was surprised not to see occasional prayers. I usually use the STM press one for most my prayers and little red for the occasional prayers. Excited to use this one
Thank you for this. I am not (yet) Orthodox, but am very interested. My close friend is about to be chrismated, and when I recently spoke to him about my rededicating myself to Christ and how I had been praying fervently to discern where to turn, and what was the Truth, he explained very briefly the Orthodox cosmology and conception of God. To say I was "blown away" is far too mundane, and quite frankly underselling it. Something clicked within my soul and in my mind that felt like coming home. He and I were both raised in evangelical protestant denominations, so the learning process has been intensive but immensely enlightening and uplifting, just speaking for myself- I'm only a week into reading and praying, while he's a couple years into the process and has been a catechumen for right at a year, iirc. Anyway, all that to say this: your reviews are extremely helpful and well done. I wanted to order a prayer book and decided on this one, and wanted to see what exactly I was getting. Thanks again, God bless.
I don't own the newer ones, but one of my close friends just bought it at the recent St Herman's conference, and the Newest printings are excellent, very sturdy and built to last. My Jville prayer book is years old and have yet to have bind issues (thank God!). But everyone else I see has these binding issues. Love your channel BTW found it accidentally while trying to get audio recordings of the Trisagion in Slavonic.
Thank you very much for your wonderful reviews. We all so blessed to have you in our fold. Tell me, where did you get those nice page markers? They're perfect for quick location of prayers and subjects. God bless you always.
If I knew slavonic, I would. I have had my hands on a copy, and the difference is night and day. From the print, to the paper, construction, and even color, the slavonic is a masterpiece.
super interesting, I still want to convert to Orthodoxy, but there isn't even a small chapel within a 200 km radius of where I live and prayer books practically don't exist (there is only one from the Metropolitan Church in the capital of São Paulo, but it's tiny and small the book) so I'm forced to import the book, something that is absurdly expensive here
Hi I was thinking of buying this prayer book but im not Orthodox, im Catholic, would you recommend this prayer book to a Catholic? Thanks David Ps i do own the Orthodox study bible which i love .
@@OrthodoxReview I live in Scotland UK and where I live there are no English speaking Orthodox churches, Regarding the prayer book is it still worth buying regardless of what church I belong to ?
@Idk_1030 Good day my friend, thanks for taking the time to reply to my question, I did buy the prayer book , it's a nice book but I find the English dated and old like old King James bible English with the Thy and Thou, it can be confusing. Can you tell me why you want to leave the Catholic church ? Hope to hear from you soon God Bless David
Considering the high volume of prayer books that are available, a lot of them are very similar in scope, and most are very "complete." You have a lot of options. He has a video giving an overview of prayer books and which one might be right to you. I would also recommend checking the list that's on this page: orthodoxwiki.org/Prayer_book
I cannot figure out how to use the Jordanville with my psalter to read the hours or vespers/compline pls help My copy was given to me by a (sadly) former orthodox friend who is now studying Buddhism again.

They're actually just post-it page markers, found st most stores.
Thank you very much.
That's the prayer book I have!
Does this prayer book includes prayers for the sick? If not which one(s) would you recommend that do?
I would love if you could do a review of the Slavonic version.
If I knew slavonic, I would. I have had my hands on a copy, and the difference is night and day. From the print, to the paper, construction, and even color, the slavonic is a masterpiece.
Would you say Eastern Catholics are able to use the prayer book in the same/similar manner?
I'd say eastern catholics should become Orthodox
@@OrthodoxReviewHow is that related to his question?

There are plenty of resources online for printing your own.
Catholic Churches are identical to Orthodox Churches, just that they don’t have that many icons
Could you use supper glue to keep the pages and binding?
Super glue!
The latest printing resolved the issue.

You can still buy the Lazarus Moore version from the U.K.
Indeed! Just wish I could afford one🤣

Which prayer book is the most complete? Like with Odes and Canons and Akathists etc.? I currently use the Antiochian pocket prayer book.

Oof, lord have mercy.
The hours are not in the Jordanville, but you can read the appointed psalms on there own.
