I’ll bet at no point in Jay’s life did he ever think he would be making commercials for a living. 😂 He’s getting pretty good at it. We don’t mind though. It’s a free way for us retirees to support his channel. 👍
Thank you for the support! And understanding why sponsored videos are necessary for any youtuber. I mean Mr beast does sponsored videos, and he gets 140M views a video 🤣.
We don’t care if you are talking about sponsors or what we love ❤hanging out with y’all, everyday when I look at my calendar just reminds me of you two 😊👍
I'm with you Jay, I like to test everything out first. Maybe the Kohler is not very efficient? Nice work and enjoyed the rafting on the river, very nice surprise Jen ❤
This old Texas gal is grateful for showing that you melted snow for water! We are now over 10 days mostly freezing and lower here in southern Missouri. We had some freezing rain and a few days later the other blast came in and I got about 10" of snow. Needless to say my IBC faucet froze up and dishes were stacking up so I heated up snow to wash up! Also my first time ever in 67 years to shovel snow so I could see all the darn rocks and not fall and bust my backside! Been in snow before but I'm used to it melting in a day or two and we've had highs above freezing but still tons on the ground! At least it's having the good grace to start getting slushy but 14 degrees tonight and I'll have to wear my ice skates tomorrow morning!😂🤣😂🤣 Texas Deb ❤️
Oh Jen--that ride looks amazing! What a nice gift. I was also a little anxious that no-one got wet, as hypothermia is no joke. I loved the piano music you paired with the footage. I will definitely play that again and look for more on you Zen channel. Stay warm!
I am finally putting in a comment ! First of all Thank You and Jen ! Your channel content is awesome. I am impressed with each project you take on. Keep doing the things you are doing. I really appreciate your and Jen entertaining comments. Thanks again and keep the videos coming ! This West Virginian really enjoys your content.
Hey Jen Glad your doing good and happy with the tiny cabin I love this bake bread and canning a start love you and your videos keep up the good work dear Make us some bread 😂😂😂
The water rafting was a cool idea, Jen was spot on! 😊 The mini cabin is looking great, although a storage cabinet outside for the batteries and such would be handy. Love what ya'll are doing 😊
Oh wow, I LOVED the end of the video with the beautiful scenery and music… that was relaxing 😊. I think I’ll replay that again 👌. I found your channel a few days ago and I love it. We are fellow Michigander’s and we are soon going to be starting our own cabin-building off-grid adventure. We will be gleaning all of the advice we can from your videos 👌
Wee cabin is looking great , doesn't the trim pop in interior eh. What an awesome raft ride how nice of Jen, wasn't that a pretty cruise , That is something Id love .
I have 3 diesel heaters not the all in one's as i make there own wooden boxes you do have to protect them from the elements as they are not waterproof your heater should be under a roof of some sort to keep the snow and rain off it if you can get the display off the unit and bring it in your cabin it will work alot better there are extension cables for the dislay on amazon i have one of my heaters in our sprinter van and i had to get the extension cable for the display so my wife can reach it to adjust it or turn it off these heaters dont take much power to operate 10 amps on startup for 5mins for the glowplug then after that between 3 to 4 amps with the fan on a high setting the amps can go down to 2 amp on a low setting and you can also charge your batteries off solar panels
You, guys are great❤ Very nice couple Always work as a team Congratulations to your achievements Jay, you are a beast and handy man Jen, you are a super woman Jay is extremely lucky to have you From Haiti, Woobens
🎊🎉 YAY🎊🎉🎊🎉🎉 JEN BACK TO HERSELF 🙌 Love to hear your sense of humor always. Great job on the trim Jay but🤪 the top trim looks outta place. Thanks for the ride down the river.🚣 Hows Timber & Scout doing haven't seen them playing in awhile 🐶🥎🐶 Great video to thanks!! Love yinz both ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You have some spare solar panels over in the shed. Inexpensive mppt in the cabin, with wire through the floor or wall to the batteries should keep them up. I like Victron, but a 24v, low amp mppt from any decent name should do fine.
Finish the trim in the new tiny cabin first. Finish everything in the new tiny cabin. You are not living in the tiny cabin and working on it will not disrupt your life. You can finish up the cabin you are living in when the weather warms up a little bit,
I futon would be nice in the mini cabin That way you could have both a sofa and a bed Thanks for sharing this rafting clips with us. Something I did a lot of when i was younger
All you need is a cigarette lighter plug to run 12v from your DJI or any solar generator. It uses the most when you first turn on the diesel heater (to heat the glow plug). After it is burning, very little power is used just to spin the fan.
Are you putting handles on the cabinet doors and drawers, if yes then will you be buying them or making them yourselves?, and what a lovely way to spend some time away from diy jobs, it looks so beautiful with the snow everywhere, and I bet it’s absolutely gorgeous in the summer, tfs 🫶🏻 Julie 🇬🇧
Hi ho hi ho off to trim we go light may be bit dim birds sing their him but off to trim we go hi ho hi ho hi hooooo 😂 you 2 are brilliant cabins are looking nice your doing a brilliant job 👍
@ 😂 the trucks got a dented rim phone company blocked my sim but off to trim we go hi ho hi ho neighbours trying to slim light may be a bit dim birds singing their him but off to trim we go hi ho hi ho hi hooooo.
As for which trim will get finished first, I'm reminded of a saying I saw: "If you want me to do something, just tell me. I'll do it. There's no need to keep nagging me about it every six months." 😃
Why did you put the stove in the corner against the wall? you'll get grease on the wall over time without a back splash. I have really enjoyed watching your show.
If we put the stove in the middle where we had it, then installed a sink there would not be any large counter spaces for Jen to bake her bread and baked goods. 90% of the use in the mini cabin will be baking in the oven and then the occasional guest.
Can I ask what was your reason in building another cabin and so close to your cabin? Is to rent out, for family and friends or Jay's just got the building bug? That's a real thing some finish one thing and gotta start another therefore never being finished
Jay i have a question your battery s . I was always told not to put them on the ground to always have space between otherwise the ground will drain the battery. Is that still true ?
Jay i just Google about battiers and if it has a plastic case the battery will not discharge how ever in extreme cold you may get some discharge. But as long as its a newer battery and not in a metal case your chance of discharge is low.@OffgridwithJayandJen
Das sieht ja schon super aus ich bin noch mal aus dem Bett konnte nicht einschlafen habe heute zu viel gestrickt ich brauche deine Pulli Größe aber Deutsche Maße Möchte dir einen schönen Pulli stricken
We are thinking this is where the Power station we use for powering the cabin will be stored. This will keep it out of the way and like you mentioned there may be a trash cabin there as well or just the trash.....we will see. =)
BTW, there’s another front headed our way, looks like it might hit us Monday, but today’s was only supposed to give us 1-3”, and it dropped at least 4”, and the night’s not over yet! Lol
Victron Energy Blue Smart IP22 Smart Car Battery Charger 12V 30A, Trickle Charger, Float Charger and Desulfator for Motorcycle, ATV, RV, Lithium and Deep Cycle Batteries, i use this to power my diesel heater, It also has a function to use as a 12v power supply, i have 2 others for battery bank back up, they are very good products, on amazon for 175.00

Lol that's a good way of looking at it. I recently came across your videos and i love them. Keep up the good work @OffgridwithJayandJen
Also a way to learn what is available for anyone wanting to be off grid.
Better keep very dry.
We don’t care if you are talking about sponsors or what we love ❤hanging out with y’all, everyday when I look at my calendar just reminds me of you two 😊👍
Lots of love my friend
Might be time to get an insulated door for the little cabin since you’re throwing heat in there! 😎
That was a very nice thing Jen did for you two, it looked like a good time.
Awesome video , thanks for sharing !!!!! 🙏👍😊❤️
The rafting looks fun. I like the winter wonderland. It makes me feel cool, lol. If it was winter here I would probably complaining it is too cold.
I tell my daughter often, "the smoke detector is not a food timer!" 😂😂😂😂
Lol, that it funny
What a great gift! The scenery on the raft ride was amazing!
Thanks for taking us on your rafting adventure. Wish I was there!,
That mini cabin is pretty cool it's really starting to look good inside 👍
Hey thanks buddy
Omg i loved the raft ride in the snow. I want to do that now. Love watching you guys work on your projects.
I'm with you Jay, I like to test everything out first. Maybe the Kohler is not very efficient? Nice work and enjoyed the rafting on the river, very nice surprise Jen ❤
Ya I'm unsure on that charger. I'm looking forward to hooking up some solar come spring time
Thanks for taking us on the river! Love these add ons.

Thanks for taking us all on your journey. What a way to spend the day floating calmly down a creek.
Time to invite those great folks from busy down state. They can have fun.
i really enjoy you two
Thanks! Love to hear that!
The mini cabin is taking shape & looking real good.
Love the trip on the river. That was super awesome. What a treat!
Oh Jen--that ride looks amazing! What a nice gift. I was also a little anxious that no-one got wet, as hypothermia is no joke. I loved the piano music you paired with the footage. I will definitely play that again and look for more on you Zen channel. Stay warm!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. It was a fun ride and we all survived!
Great job with this video! Made us smile and wish we were out Kayaking in January.
Jay love and enjoy your videos. May the lord bless and protect you Jay and Jen putting poly on. Jay working outside and start the trim.
Great ride down the river!! Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it
New projects are more fun to work on than old projects. So I'd guess the trim in the tiny cabin will get done first 😂
🤣🤣
Way to go on y’all’s divide and conquer strategy! The trim looks great! Jen did a great job on the cabinets!
Woot Woot buddy. appreciate ya

Ill make some bread soon!

Cabin is coming together nicely, but that rafting trip ... so lovely.. makes me miss home SOO much
The water rafting was a cool idea, Jen was spot on! 😊 The mini cabin is looking great, although a storage cabinet outside for the batteries and such would be handy. Love what ya'll are doing 😊
How fun, Next time I would love to go, looks like a Blast.
this reminds me of the old days canoeing down a river in a snowstorm thank you for reminding me of my past dave from ct
According to reviewers, the diesel heater takes about 5A on startup, and about 1.5-2A while running. So those batteries should last a while.
Outstanding...really enjoyed the floating and accompanying music.🎉

Great work! 👊🏻👍🏻 Appreciate you always my friends 🙏🏻 God Bless
What a fun little trip!!
Wee cabin is looking great , doesn't the trim pop in interior eh. What an awesome raft ride how nice of Jen, wasn't that a pretty cruise , That is something Id love .
WOW, raft ride looked exciting. Reminds me of way back when, we used to canoe the Huron river along different places!!
THE CABIN TRIM
Nice trip down the river I didn't get cold or wet.
Beautiful scenery! What a nice surprise from Jen.
Love the winter rafting! Beautiful, great camera work!- Be safe!
Great raft trip...beautiful
I really like visiting with you. You make my day.
Thank you for the kind words
Another good video, thanks for sharing ❤
Quite the adventure😊

🐶🥎🐶 Great video to thanks!! Love yinz both ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You two are brave!🎉 We kayaked the Sturgeon in Oct 2016. The tree fall and snags were horrendous!
I think this section was designated for winter fun...lol. but ya luckily the guide did 95% of the work
Chop, Chop! Just get on with what needs to be done.
I'm saying this because I struggle with getting my husband to do the chores that need to be done.
You have some spare solar panels over in the shed. Inexpensive mppt in the cabin, with wire through the floor or wall to the batteries should keep them up. I like Victron, but a 24v, low amp mppt from any decent name should do fine.

Hello! Jay please set the batteries on wood or another source. Setting them on concrete discharges them over time.
I futon would be nice in the mini cabin
That way you could have both a sofa and a bed
Thanks for sharing this rafting clips with us.
Something I did a lot of when i was younger
That is a sofa bed pull out 😁👍
@@OffgridwithJayandJen That will work too 😊
i would suggest building a insulated box for your batteries running the diesel heater the charge will last much longer
All you need is a cigarette lighter plug to run 12v from your DJI or any solar generator. It uses the most when you first turn on the diesel heater (to heat the glow plug). After it is burning, very little power is used just to spin the fan.
That is great advice, thanks for sharing!
Thanks, y’all,❤ for mentioning the extra details about the carbon monoxide/smoke detectors. I’ve been on the lookout for new ones.
It seems like a great product......Jen Put the links in the description box for you. Best wishes
That’s Beautiful country up there…
You should try the AuSable River… that’s really beautiful area too
You probably should move the sofa on the opposite wall of the stove and cabinets.
Cant have it on the opposite wall because the door wouldn't open then !
The rafting looked like fun! (though I would like it more if it was about 70 degrees Fahrenheit ; )
Who is the pianists? Love this music❤
My heater didn't release any smoke inside, there was a slight odor from the materials heating up for the first time. But it seemed to work well.
Water visit nice. Not sure about the door trim. 😊😊
Ya, I figured I would try it.....but it looks goofy
Y’all will need to shield that wall and window from the propane cooktop. Could potentially melt the window and singe the wall.
Yeah, I liked the stove over more.
Don’t forget to get a door latch and knob
Are you putting handles on the cabinet doors and drawers, if yes then will you be buying them or making them yourselves?, and what a lovely way to spend some time away from diy jobs, it looks so beautiful with the snow everywhere, and I bet it’s absolutely gorgeous in the summer, tfs 🫶🏻 Julie 🇬🇧
Oh yeah it's always good to have multiple power sources.
are all the houses we see along this adventure all off grid?
Yes!
@@OffgridwithJayandJen Thats awesome!! thank you!

Hi ho hi ho off to trim we go light may be bit dim birds sing their him but off to trim we go hi ho hi ho hi hooooo 😂 you 2 are brilliant cabins are looking nice your doing a brilliant job 👍
Ha......perfect. love it.
@ 😂 the trucks got a dented rim phone company blocked my sim but off to trim we go hi ho hi ho neighbours trying to slim light may be a bit dim birds singing their him but off to trim we go hi ho hi ho hi hooooo.
A gallon of poly will fit in the 15% off bag at the Big Green Store…save big money!
Good point
Have you ever used tung oil to treat wood...Im curious about it
I have not. I think Dave over at bush radical uses it on his cabins or maybe it is linseed oil. He likes it
Now that's a rafting trip, I think I could do. Unfortunately, I'm in California, and our river the mighty Kern, is too rapid and deadly for me to do.
Wonder if the wind turbine could keep the battery for the diesel heater charged
That would be great
As for which trim will get finished first, I'm reminded of a saying I saw: "If you want me to do something, just tell me. I'll do it. There's no need to keep nagging me about it every six months." 😃
Lol

Jay i have a question your battery s . I was always told not to put them on the ground to always have space between otherwise the ground will drain the battery. Is that still true ?
I heard this a long time ago too, but read somewhere it was not true.....but I can't validate that source 100%

Thats very sweet of you to offer
I see air gaps in your door you should have insulated that. Besides that I love your videos
It’s a work in progress, we’ll get there eventually.
Those cabinet doors need adjusting ;)
Ya i tried with the hinge adjustments and it didn't seem to help......I'll fiddle with it again
Should not set battery's on concrete put on a board. The concrete draws battery's down.
Maybe you address it and I miss it . The open space under counter . I see that put heater vent and there is outlet . Maybe a slim trash can ??
Loose to pull it out when Jen is cooking and will be easy to put trash bags in it .
We are thinking this is where the Power station we use for powering the cabin will be stored. This will keep it out of the way and like you mentioned there may be a trash cabin there as well or just the trash.....we will see. =)
Why is the exhaust going under the cabin now?😬
That's the heat outlet
The exhaust is the small steel pipe pointing to the back
I hope you have no plans to put curtains up in the window near the gas stove. Still beautiful little cabin.
No plans too. Maybe the front door and windows though
Are you related to Matt from Matt's off-road
No we are not.

you should put a potato masher in that drawer so its hard to open. that will make it a real home.
Lol, I laughed hard at this. Lol. Thanks
Sorry. I can't say I like 3 different colors on the door trim
Ya i was experimenting and it wasn't great, lol
Why so little? Are you going to live in there?
