    Here's all you need to know:
    This Atomstack does NOT have a replaceable lens. WHEN the lens cracks (and it WILL), you will have to buy a whole new module ( $156!) not a lens ($25).

    • @JTMakesIt
      @JTMakesIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is why newer modules from Sculpfun and xTool have this feature. Check my newer reviews. The lens can crack if you don't clean it too often.

    Just bought the Atomstack A5 pro, but it didn't came with a switch. Maybe because some TH-camrs criticized it before, for not having a switch. But interesting findings and a it helped me to get some better settings for my laser. Thx 😉 and yes it didn't cut the blue acrylic glass because if something looks blue to your eyes, it is because it mostly reflects the blue wavelengths of the light and absorbs more of the other colors. So if you would have used red or green acrylic it should have worked... This is why they use red or green acrylic covers too. Cause they absorb most of the blue light and let only the red and green parts through.

    • @JTMakesIt
      @JTMakesIt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just ordered an S9 - pity I already paid for it before seeing the discount coupon lol! I'm not expecting it to be delivered any time soon though because the last of the current batch is sold out. I would like to ask what is the size of the footprint of this machine? Yes I know the engraving capacity but I would like to know how much clear space I need on custom made shelf to hold it (so that would include any bits that stick out like the stepper motor..). How about cutting clear acrylic? would both machine able to cut through?

    • @JTMakesIt
      @JTMakesIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. None of the diode lasers on the market can cut clear acrylic because of physics. Diode lasers emit blue light-visible spectrum. And you can't cut whatherever it is white or transparent because the light goes through. Co2 lasers on the other hand emit infrared light which is basically heat and they can also cut transparent and white materials because infrared is also absorbed by transparent materials.

    • @JTMakesIt
      @JTMakesIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it is just too thick. Maximum I would say is 5mm for these two machines. And for Sculpfun S9(check my review) the max should be 7 to 8mm. This is for black acrylic. You can cut thicker, but it would be too slow to be practical. I think the S9 could cut 10mm arcylic but at a very slow speed and many passes.

    Atomstack has the worst possible focusing system (you have to be very careful not to tilt it when tightening the screws); pity that Sculpfun has only a slightly better system; I have an a5 pro and objectively it is not a great machine because of the poor precision focusing, so I'm looking at the various reviews just to look for some better engraver

    • @JTMakesIt
      @JTMakesIt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, Atomstack focusing system is not as good. The Sculpfun system is better, because you can also remove the acrylic guard and then you have 2cm of clearance between head and material. It comes in very handy when engraving weird objects like an axe or spoons where you can easily focus the laser at some lower point and not worrying about the head hitting something higher on the object.
      I am testing a new laser machine from Sculpfun right now (not for sale yet), I will release the video this week probably. And I will also post the standard test pattern results on my website hobbylasercutters.com so it will be easy to compare to other machines I tested. The new machine is quite good I must say :)
