the MCRD is basically (from what i've heard) a glorified Catalyst, and you don't have to engineer an engine to run without DPF/DEF but you do have to engineer an engine to run with it.
on the main component parts its also the quality of steel that matters, and I've heard very mixed reviews. And some say specifically that the much of steel is low quality
Yeah people will probably have mixed reviews as with anything. I've been impressed by my 4540 so far. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
I do also have mahindra tractor of 45 HP, that really works fantasticly by the way I am from India 🇮🇳 . And fells proud to be indian brand tractor ( mahindra) is satisfying our foreign farmer brothers.
I have the 4550 and use it like you. Very well built tractor, I went from shuttle shift to this gear shift style because of reliability down the road. I grew up on gear tractors, if you constantly used loader as dairy farm and such the shuttle is awesome. It pulls my two 16” plows with ease. I researched a lot before I selected Mahindra, don’t pay extra for a color or brand that it self is made cheap. Keep up the great videos.
If you’re doing any brush clearing, I highly recommend a Piranha Tooth Bar. It will make that bucket so much more useful. I got one for my 4550 and it fit like a glove and I could not be happier with it. Made me love my tractor even more.
Good video. This is the Tractor I am considering. Why? Because of price and power. Right at 2,900 lbs loader lift. 3,500 3 pt. Lift. I don't know of another Tractor with this strength that can touch it especially in price. However there are simple things they should address from the factory. So simple like tighten down all the nuts and bolts. Do your job! Take pride in your work. Listen to your clients like you Hank! Put a stronger steel guard in front of the steering component. Make the armrests more durable and finally do your warranty work. Honor it. Mahindra is close to being a Tractor Company that consumers can have more confidence in. Thanks for taking the time to make this video Very helpful. You get 5 Stars. 😝
Nice review, honest opinion, but I’ve not seen any reviews on any tractors with 1000 or more hours. You are right about the dealer, that is a deciding factor for me. Thanks for your videos.
Yeah that would be a good series to do. I need to start asking around to see if I can find anyone that has several brand tractors with that many hours and see if they'll let me film. Thanks for the comment👍
You also have to think about those smaller tractors like the 1526 being built by TYM and not Mahindra so you are moving from a Korean tractor to an Indian tractor.
Say what you want about Mahindra's quality, we have 2 Mahindra 5500s (an '03 and an '07) and the only issue we've ever had that wasn't us beating the ever living crap out of them was a hydraulic leak on the '03 when it was new. The '07 has a loader which is a really well made loader. While I can't reccomend a new Mahindra as I have not had experience with them I *DO* highly reccomend the 5500.
I think you hit on the key thing, a good dealer can make or break your tractor experience. There are many good tractors out there (just like the old Ford vs Chevy debate), but the dealer can determine if your tractor ownership will be a positive or negative experience. I agree on the brush guard. My Kubota suffers from the same issue, you would think that they would design them to prevent sticks and such from getting by them. I do like the HST. My dad was pointing out how nice his gear shift tractor is when mowing, until he realized that my tractor came with cruise control, so I can set it and the tractor will maintain the speed and I don't have to keep my foot on the pedal.
Good review video. It’s a tough tractor but it’s not a tank. You’ve worked it hard. My dad’s SAME Corsaro 65HP tractor is a similar tractor but 30 years older.
Personally I prefer the 2wd axle design because you don't have to worry about destroying the steering gear, also the "brush guard" on the 5500 is really just a *massive* steel bar across the lower/middle part of the grill.
I have an old 9N that I wrench in for five hours and get an hour of two out of it before it breaks down again. Wifey just gave me the green light on a new tractor. Seriously considering the 4540, we are going to be buying land soon and might as well have a tractor that works and is paid off when were ready for the big move.
After chuckE2009 review with all the trouble with it and the lack of service after the sale and the problems getting it fixed where crazy I don’t think I could even consider them
His video did a lot of damage to the Mahindra brand. I have an awesome dealer. I didn't let one video determine what I was buying. They're hundreds of videos bashing every brand out there. Tractor brands are really a hot topic. I had a very detailed talk with dealers from several brands and felt like some were better than others. Chuck's video could have easily been on orange tractors or green tractors. I have 165 hours on mine now and still love it. The only issues I have had with mine are ones I created. But, at the end of the day, it's your money and your decision. Buy what is best for you and your situation.
The Tractor itself is well built. But we are on the third dealer in 5 years . So around hear you never know if it's going to be covered under warranty by someone or not
Amen i bought my mahindra 1533 in 2016 first dealer quit selling second dealer wont call me back and third dealer was a dick cause we didnt buy from him. From 2 hours ti 450 hours i have done all the service dont kniw what i will do if it ever tears up. I have had no issues well one with the joystick sticking but that was at 25 hours i just learned not to push it all the way down. Service has been shit in western kentucky!
Good afternoon Hank. Just wanted to know your thoughts about Messicks doing a review on the Mahindra 4550. While I think the old school design is tried and true, very strong and dependable, this guy dogs this Tractor pretty hard. Yet it out lifts , out weighs the competition. Costs less. Also much less to go wrong without all the computers and modules. Thanks. Mark.
Just watched it. Pretty sure that guy doesn't know how to shift gears or he was paid to bash Mahindra. But from the comments he is pretty good at bashing other brands he doesn't like.
@@HamiltonvilleFarm They sell Kubota. I asked for a price on a Tractor (Kubota) that was in the same lift capacity. It was well in the Forty Thousand range. Blew my mind.
I have almost 50 acres of forest, mainly 30+ year old nice straight reseeded Weyerhaeuser pines which is about to be clear cut in Eastern NC. Are some really nice hardwoods as well. Timber already sold. Due to my Mom passing away, my sister and myself will each own 50/50 on a tract of 77 acres, which the 30+ mainly pine timber( reseeded Weyerhauser) will also be sold at a later date, already cruised. I know who is will be in charge of any tasks on that plot, to maintain needed fire lanes. Due to all our land, though split through siblings, were all part of a farm my grandad had, it still has a farm number via the country. Am in process of reinstating my land as a "farm" with our local county and going to fill our the rest of the paperwork next week. I only have a 50's model Super A that I fixed up quite a bit, on a whim- but really to manage what is coming in front of me, I think I need something larger and thinking of the 4550 simply due to it's old school features that I know, have used earlier in life and sometimes simple is better than complex. That is not to mention that on my part, I want to put in a acre or so of fish pond to enjoy on my property.
I have the 1626 hst now with 20 hrs on it and the center link that steers the front wheels bent almost in half! Maybe I ran against a stump but at first it was slightly but and against the front drive shat u going. Bent it down to clear the the u joint. Then was pushing brush and suddenly the link bent MORE and wheels towed out. Seems like a weak link.
Great review Hank! Nice tractor man, I like how Mahindra had designed their engine the way they did! You explained a lot of key points. 👍. Also the light bar and tool box was nice, I’m thinking those might be some added “bling” on the LS haha! Take care man!
My husband and I are watching your videos. Great source of info, thanks! My husband wants to know where he can buy a chainsaw holder like the one you have on your tractor?
I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a 4540. I have contemplated the standard trans over and over. This is a lifetime purchase for me and I don’t want to regret getting a standard trans versus a shuttle shift. I don’t really know if it will matter to me down the road, but the comforts of a shuttle shift, foot space on the floor and access from either side of the tractor seem appealing. However, those things cost money. Is is worth it? Or will it matter to me? I appreciate your videos and it’s helped me in my consideration of the 4540. Now if I can figure a way to claim the tractor as an expense and get some kind of tax benefit....
We had one for just around the yard and couldnt stand it seemed very dated to us kinda like ford was getting before going to New holland compared to our other tractors the options just weren't there and didnt seem to stand up to being used 12/7... I guess they are like kubotas good for hobby/yard work we've even lately been moving from new Holland/deere to trying fendt

I have a 4025, very similar. I love my Mahindra, want a larger 70-100 hp tractor, not going to buy a shuttle, or highly computerized tractor though, suggestion's? Thanks!
Hi Hank, Just wondering what you paid for this tractor and model. I live in the UK but i have land in Italy and plan to move back but need a tractor. Ive been talking to someone in the states about a 605 model. He says he works for a company called Best Buy in San Francisco, I dont know anything about the States im afraid. Can anyone advise please..... Loving the channel by the way
Best buy is a computer/electronics chain. They sale, computers, TV's,stereos , etc. Not sure how prices compare from US models to European models especially with the exchange rate. In the US a new 40 hp tractor can cost anywhere between $17k-$40k USD depending on what you get and what accessories you buy. Good luck in Italy.
I asked to join the Mahindra owners USA group answerd the questions but the admin must have denied me and blocked me because I can't even find the group now.
If you can ask them for me to add me that would be great the profile was under David Johnson I have a cannabis leaf for a profile picture because I am an advocate for medical marijuana. I own a Mahindra 2638.
They are going to relook for where you applied to make sure that didn't miss you. They get tons of requests every week, so it may have been an oversight. Try again to make sure they get to you👍
I purchased a new Mahindra in Dec 2019 and love the tractor. However, I regret purchasing from the dealer. In late 2020 the dealer dropped the Mahindra line and brought in Bad Boy tractors to compliment their Massey Ferguson line. My last visit I asked if they still serviced Mahindra? They told me they would not touch them.
I've Got an Emax22. I bought it to do small jobs on a construction site. I am EXTREEMLY disappointed with the machine. For starters, there is no Harmonic Balancer on the Three cylinder engine. EVERY SINGLE plastic component on the tractor has broken from its mounts due to excessive vibration. The electrical system was run as an after thought with wires being pinched between frame parts and add on's. I have had no less than five direct shorts to ground from the vibration. Twice the tractor wiring started smoking and it was only quick thinking that prevented it from burning up. ( My Bad, should have let it go). Gear Box rebuilt once by Mahindra because the shift would not engage. (Bad Gear set). Blown Wheel seals and I'm just not going into the Hydraulics. Took it to the Mahindra dealer many times, They repaired the electrical issues while it was under its 24month warranty period. Since then, it's been "we know its a bad design, and it sucks to be you". Implements are too light in construction for the tractor. The bucket is simply something for your kids Tonka toy. Mahindra says I'm too hard on it? Their opinion is the machine was designed for a small Horse farm and about the only think its suitable for is loading horse and chicken S%#t. There, I've vented. Now I'm going to go buy a 1972 Massy 135.
Sorry you got a bad machine. I've been very happy with my 4540. Best of luck with your Massey. Hope it serves you well. Those old tractors really run strong.
I think maybe the key word it "Older" . Maybe should have bought an older unit and not something new. It would have proved itself and those engines can run forever.@@HamiltonvilleFarm
Hey buddy, good vid. I almost pulled the trigger on the 4550. I think it is a beautiful tractor, and I like the old school look. I changed my mind for several reasons and went with the Kubota. But I do have one question, I heard you cant run thru the gears without grinding. What has been your experience with that?
Yes, when I first got the tractor I grinded the gears a lot. But as I learned where the "sweet spot" was the grinding got less. I found 1st to 2nd does fine. 2nd to 3rd I still grind some 3rd to 4th does fine. Not sure I ever got to 5th. Lol. My place is pretty bumpy. I still will grind them, but no where close to like it was when I got it. Hope this answers your question.
Beloved JD has tractors imported from Germany India and Mexico. CaseIH Italy South America. Final assembly is in America. Massey Ferguson Britain South America France and China.
www.tractorbynet.com is one of the largest/most active forums on the web. They have two sections devoted to Mahindra (one for buying, one for owning). There are many other sections that also apply for Mahindra owners. Very knowledgeable folk there. As with all forums, there are trolls to deal with, but it is a great place for info.
We just bought this 65 acres and I am shopping for a tractor. I really like the 4540 but I'm seeing some owners are having a range of mechanical issues. Are you having fuel line, oil leaks, loose hardware or any mechanical issues?
Just purchased a new Mahindra 6075 w/cab and loader on 1/28/20 and i really hope i made the right choice ... i have heard the dealer plays a big part in/on the tractors warranty issues if any that may arize .... Great Dealership on sells i have to say good folks in Moultrie Ga..Seemed to have a really good Service dept as well..those two keys go hand n hand ..if your lacking on the later. Harmful comments are posted and sells decline. At this point i really feel good about my new tractor. 1.75 hrs so far. And hope to not need the service dept for a $43000 long while ..i have a Mahindra 2615 purchased new in 2006 and its been a really Great little tractor needing the service dept only one time to replace the radiator due to a leak in 2018 after miles of mowed food plots and old roads..so far so good ..Hoping to only report Good News .. Thanks, Oconee
Not only NO...but HELL NO! I bought one and have had nothing but Trouble. Its Broke more than it Operates. And I put about the Wimpiest Use on it than you'll Ever Witness. P.O.S!
I will say it has been a great tractor thank god. I have been to 3 dealers since i bought it. Have had to do all the service myself even my 50 hour service. I called the dealer where i bought it week after i bought it and ask where the oil cap was and he said they were no longer selling mahindra tractors and hung up. Thankfully youtube and a little reading has got me yo 450 hours about to do full service to it in july. 2nd dealer wouldnt call me back on a warranty issue. Third dealer was a total dick cause i didnt buy it there and said if he serviced it he was gonna check all the fluids and filters and if it didnt have mahibdra fluids and filters he have my warranty voided funny thing is i just went there to get fluuds and filters. Wtf
I don’t know from personal experience but Mahindra tractor definitely has a black eye on TH-cam from horrible reviews and service actually tow black eyes and two broken arms!!!
Hambone and Idol actually no it doesn’t. I’m a third generation fruit grower. We own three large fruit farms in Ontario Canada. Compare your tractor to our oldest John Deere 1140 2140 and our newer 5100ml and 5175 gl. We have a total of 9 Deere’s. Our oldest 1140 and 2140 are in your class and e en though they are older tractors there is no comparison engine transmission hydraulics. That mahindra loader is far from heavy duty compared to the John Deere we ag loaders we use. We run our tractors 10 -12 hours a day try working yours like that and see how you make out. There is a saying you get what you pay for. I’ve paid a hell of a lot more but get a hell of a lot more.
John Deere used to be a badass tractor now they cut cost in every way possible, no way I would ever buy a tractor with a cast aluminum rear chunk, and yes Mahindras have no problem running all day everyday and without needing to regen...do your research
We have been farming commercially for three generations in Canada our older 1140 are built as well as the newer 5175gl We need tractors that run every day all day.
Damn Bob, you have issues. You keep comparing them to old tractor like it's a bad thing. I was working on a farm in the 80s with 50s farmalls that still did the job. Many are still running, works for me. If I remember right Mahindra builds a model simular to this for John Deere. You look like a narrow minded fanboy.
I forgot to mention the frame and the thickness of the metal, Mahindra uses. I like the fact it is built "beefier" than others.

I have a 4025, very similar. I love my Mahindra, want a larger 70-100 hp tractor, not going to buy a shuttle, or highly computerized tractor though, suggestion's? Thanks!
Tough decision for one!
Take the fuel cut off out of the tank and cut the strainer off. They will stop up and you don't need it.
Interesting. Thanks for the tip. I'll research it. 👍🏻
He likes the power. 🤔
Let me see what I can find out. The admins are good guys.
If you can ask them for me to add me that would be great the profile was under David Johnson I have a cannabis leaf for a profile picture because I am an advocate for medical marijuana. I own a Mahindra 2638.
Thanks brother we got it done thanks for the quick responses your the MVP
Dang got the wrong notification it was for another group but still trying to join the one you mentioned
They are going to relook for where you applied to make sure that didn't miss you. They get tons of requests every week, so it may have been an oversight. Try again to make sure they get to you👍
Put socks on the arm rests. I do this on big rig tractors that i drive when they get nasty. Work great.
Wow. Crazy
great work
Thanks a lot. We appreciate it 👍

Mahindra da largest tractor manufacturer in da world
One day,,, yes one day I will have the money to get one !!!
Buy one of you don't mind having a pink tractor in a few years. And I mean Mary Kay pink!
I've had nothing but problems with mine .buy a kubota trust me
Great review Hank.
Thanks Ronnie!
Is it American Made? 🇺🇸
Assembled in America. Made in India.
Mahindra is assembled in the USA for sale here!
@White And Proud made in India they put the tires and seat on in the U.S.
Which tractors are made in America?
Beloved JD has tractors imported from Germany India and Mexico. CaseIH Italy South America. Final assembly is in America. Massey Ferguson Britain South America France and China.
thanks man...
Where is it made . And yes it makes a difference. But that's just me. 😒🤔
45XX tractors are made in India.
XX10, 25XX, 26XX, and some others ones are made in South Korea by TYM.
Indian Iron is crude and reliable.
Yep
2 year Bumper to Bumper warranty, guess the Bucket and everything beyond the front bumper isn't covered. 😥😥😥
A friend of mine id a trouble shooter for new Mahindras at a DISTRIBUTOR....
Says he'd never buy one.
All I needed to know.
A friend of mine is a mechanic at a Mahindra dealership , says he wouldn't even consider another brand. All I needed to know.
Glad to hear that you're having a good experience with yours.
Yeah Ed. All brands have pros and cons. Hope you pick the best one for your situation 👍 take care.
@@HamiltonvilleFarm I can tell you some stories about Mahindra that you would never never believe, we will probably post video also. Good luck to you!
We here use John deere u there use mahindra , what a conincidence 😝
Lol. 👍😁
Most of All! Under NO Circumstances, whatsoever, Don't Buy No Ugly Tractor!!!😛
😂
Elvis owned an International 300 and a John Deere 4010. What would the King buy today?
anything he wanted!
Thanks dost yougs to Bharat trakter
Thanks for watching
www.tractorbynet.com is one of the largest/most active forums on the web. They have two sections devoted to Mahindra (one for buying, one for owning). There are many other sections that also apply for Mahindra owners. Very knowledgeable folk there. As with all forums, there are trolls to deal with, but it is a great place for info.
Thanks! I'll check them out!
I miss my kabota, the mahindra just isnt as nice smooth powerful and it never broke
Have you seen my Kubota video I just released? It's a good video about them. Check it out.
We just bought this 65 acres and I am shopping for a tractor. I really like the 4540 but I'm seeing some owners are having a range of mechanical issues. Are you having fuel line, oil leaks, loose hardware or any mechanical issues?
W shave switched to Branson. You should check them out! Thanks for watching 👍
I am going to make me that tool box.
+Quentin Smith do it! super easy. 👍
Nice. I've been to that dealership. They seem like really good people. I hope it all goes well. You bought a nice Tractor 👍
Not only NO...but HELL NO! I bought one and have had nothing but Trouble. Its Broke more than it Operates. And I put about the Wimpiest Use on it than you'll Ever Witness. P.O.S!
Mahindra dealers in western kentucky SUCK.
Yeah Marty a bad dealer can ruin the whole
experience. . Hate that for you man.
It was a good tractor for me. But I'm happier with the Branson
i have a 85m biggest piece of junk i ever owned i 3 john deeres work everyday
Still gotta have my green power
Yeah I hear ya. Gotta get what works for you👍 thanks for stopping by.
That tractor is a dinosaur looks like it was built in the 60s
Kenneth Macaluso actually there is no cast aluminum rear ends an any of the ag tractors we own. 🙂
Company is from India ... No thanks
u liked your own comment. Lol
Buy a John Deere!
ZZZZZZZZZZZ
