I fully plan to continue to go to chimney rock and support more businesses as they open! As more open back up, I will make more vlogs to highlight who is open and available to support!

So happy to see that you are intentional about spending money in the area. We went from Alabama to NC back in November to do most of our Christmas shopping and spend some travel dollars.
Hope to go in the Spring to volunteer if my knee surgery recovery continues to go well.

That is so amazing! We live about 45 minutes south of the area and I wish I had thought about Christmas shopping up that way! I had donated a lot of children’s clothing to Asheville back in October and I want to get up there and do more in that area as well!

Thank you for sharing. It makes me sick seeing all the money going to other countries, when it could be used and is needed in this area.

Oh good, Lakehouse Restaurant is still doing well. My family and I ate there last year, and was worried about it like the many other homes, businesses, and places of interest in the area.

I spoke to a waitress there who told me that end of the lake by the restaurant did not have any flooding. Such a miracle that they weren’t affected!

Everytime there's a big storm in North Carolina. The state authorities issues a warning ⚠️. Then when we get the shock of a lifetime. They scramble around all confused and bewildered. Then more and more of us have to suffer. Hurricanes hit our coasts, but sometimes they make landfall. Hurricane 🌀 Fran hit a literally destroyed Raleigh and Durham. The people from the Mountains came to help us. Now, this happens was worse than I've ever seen in my lifetime. I wish that my state could have done better. I'm very disappointed 😞 and sadden by the lack of no help hardly from our State Authorities. But, im very impressed by other state's and the communities that stepped up. I too lost my home when hurricane fran hit. So, I understand fully

I am so sorry that you lost your home 🥺 I had a tree come down on my house from Helene and one of the times I was on the phone with my homeowners insurance company, I had asked about their interactions with anyone in NC. The woman I was speaking with at the time told me the call she took right before mine was a man in Chimney Rock who did not have flood insurance and there was nothing they could do to help him. Anyone with water damage without flood insurance coverage wont be eligible for claims through insurance. It breaks my heart to think of how many people didn’t think they ever needed flood coverage and now they have no home and no insurance money to rebuild.

I unfortunately didn't have flood insurance. Because we were nowhere near water. The maximum sustained winds were 130 in Durham NC. It rained here for about 3 days before Hurricane Fran made landfall. Our trailer park got hit by tornados that spun off the winds. But nothing like yalls Hurricane, im still like wtf kind of storm is this?

The first river you show on #9 if you look at the field across the river the water was 17' 9" above that field.

Wow! I can’t believe it was almost 18 feet over that whole field! I could tell how high it was next to the road by the debris in the trees and even that was hard to comprehend.
