Because the 36 (or any long travel single crown) is the correct fork for that bike and the 40 would be an incorrect fork for that bike.
And it looks like a premium high performance fork was selected so I doubt budget was a factor at all.

Technically that's not a DH bike it's more like a trail bike DH bikes have more travel on the forks thought you should know that
+Tactical Danny a trail bike is 120-140mm of travel and not 180 ;D btw thats a freeride bike

yes, on a bike like that (extremly expensive) the brakes are always hidraulic

Why a cassette so big for downhill you only need 7 gears and why not a fox40 or boxer you will bottom out the 36 on a downhill track
