The VS is my main racket now. I came from an aero but the lack control and very long balls were upsetting me. The first time I played with the VS I immediately thought “thats the one!!!” My backhand is one handed and I feel very precise with it. Not Pro Staff precise but almost there.
I've been using the VS for a while now and I don't think I'll ever be able to switch off of it. Felt like a big upgrade from a vcore 95, at least the 2018 one.
Very helpful I have Extreme Tour and considering as my preferred racquet over Speeds and Ezone and TF40 but AeroVS has come into my view as I realise like you I need easy spin on my topspin serve which gives me most success in winning points as compared to a flatter first serve which usually gets hammered back at me also decided topspin forehand is the way to go rather than flatter hit. So I will look to get a second hand one or demo if available. Thanks for video just in tune with my thinking this week!
My Extreme Tour just arrived tonight. Strung with gut in mains (55), Lux in crosses (52)….Looking forward to my first hit in two months on Thursday.🎾🎾🎾🎾🎾😀🎾🎾🎾
Couldn’t get any power with the Tour Extreme with Cyclone at 48/46, my usual setup on my Ezone 98. Tried Alu Rough in mains at 40 and Tourna Black Zone at 38 in crosses on the Extreme Tour, and the racket is totally transformed. Now I can hit deep and with spin, and it is much more comfortable on the arm. Amazing how much nicer it is with this setup. I was about to give the racket away.

Thanks for the review I just tested the regular pure aero and the head extreme tour. I liked the pure aero for serve but it was not great for me at the net. I really enjoyed the head racket and felt like i was cutting through butter at the net. I am curious to try out the VS version of the aero hopefully it will be a bit better with plow through.
@@adrianbara-popa8000 Hey, i ended up trying the VS and it was also a bit unstable for me. I am now deciding between the radical MP and Pro. I guess you can throw the Extreme tour in there as well. I like the weight of the extreme tour and feel but liked the radicals a bit better overall. I liked the radical pro better for feel and control but it was slightly to heavy. I feel the MP was good but to unstable for me and had more power than i needed and less control. Do you think it would be worth while adding weight to the MP to get it close to the Pro or is the MP a little to different to make it a pro that is slightly less weight (like making it a 310 instead of the pro at 315?
In general any tennis rackets on the heavier side like tour or pro versions will offer you better stability and more plow tru. Starting from here you can customize your racket depending what you're looking for in your type of playing. My self I'm a base liner and I like power and spin type of rackets. Very important to keep in mind, strings can affect your game drastically. Extreme tour is a very good platform racket to be customized by your own specs. The VS tour felt pretty good in stock version to me. With a little customizing you can make it a deadly weapon. In the end don't forget strings and tension makes a big difference in playability!!!
@@adrianbara-popa8000 Cool yeah I liked the extreme tour as well. I may check it out one more time and lean towards customizing it. I am so indecisive so probably good to get one that i can customize.
Regarding the concept of spin + control racquet, maybe it would be interesting to consider the Wilson Pro Staff 97s (the racquet endorsed by Dimitrov a few years ago). It had a 18x17 pattern and 19,5mm beam width (a racquet that benefits a lot from adding weight in the handle). Greetings
Have always enjoyed the Extreme Tour, though a touch too much power, but still...very nice. The VS, just too stiff for me to mess with it, but I agree it's the racquet on paper I like the most from Babolat.

I need a more flexible racquet, otherwise I feel too much shock and it ends up eventually injuring my arm due to mis hits. I went to the Prince RipStick to get the spin and control and forgiveness.

Friend, I am quite disappointed with my extreme tour, it turns out that despite the light weight I find that the swing speed is low, it is difficult for me to squeeze power out of this racket, I added six grams of lead at 12 o'clock and changed the grip of factory for one of 10 grams, even so it is difficult for me to accelerate and transfer the air. To achieve that, would it be good to counteract with a gram in the grip? Even my custom prestige auxetic tour with six grams at 12 o'clock feels faster. Please help. I want this racket to feel like my old yonex vcore 98 from 2018.

Interesting. I'm a VCore 95 user with an eastern/semi-western forehand and a one-handed backhand, so I hit a fairly flat backhand and moderate-spin forehand. I've demoed the Extreme Tour but thought it was too launchy... perhaps due to my stroke mechanics, perhaps due to the demo string (6 months old and probably too low tension = rocket launcher). Curious: do you have a one or two-handed backhand, and how have you found the Extreme Tour for that shot? Thanks!
@@outcometechnology I have a two handed backhand and put some topspin on it too. Like the backhand more on the extreme tour as I feel like there’s a little bit more free power than the 95. I also feel like the launch angle of the extreme tour is higher than the 95 (which I prefer) .
Thanks Jonas for a great comparison. How does the Wilson Pro Staff Six.100 compare with these two? Would it fall in the spin friendly control oriented category, and perhaps better for the one handed backhand you think? Appreciate your thoughts.
It's an interesting comparison, might do a future video about that. It's a little "livelier" than the other two, but a competitor for sure. Not as good one the one-hander as the Extreme Tour, but better than the Aero VS.

I am lacking for power, but have lots of control especially on my one handed backhand. Need time to understand better. Next time I will try the same string at 22/21 kg.

Pure drive has more spin potential, and if you have modern topspin baseliner swing mechanics that topspin may act against the end result if we're talking about power 'through the court'. The pure aero Vs is a more powerful attackers weapon for modern topspin players in my opinion, but that doesn't mean it's better. They're just different. The pure drive with enough topspin hits a safer heavier shot but you get more directional control, precision, and through court power with the Aero vs, lending itself to more risk/regard play than the pure drive. The aero Vs more versatile re styles of play it could suit past a certain level. I think spin is near fundamental to control a pure drive at advanced levels but with the aero Vs you have more options, ie, flatten it out with control and play with more variety. If we're strictly limiting it to power difference, like energy coming from racket, theres definitely a jump with the pure drive but I'd say the pure aero Vs still has got some good juice. Still has that Babolat 'destroy the ball' (and possibly 'destroy your elbow' if you're sensitive to injury from stiff rackets) thing going on.
Hey Jonas I have sold all my racquets (prostaff, prestige, Prince tour pro, Wilson blx) and bought 3 speed mp youtek. I want to be disciplined stick to one racquet one string and one tension to work on my game and stop blaming other factors. After the winter season I will work on basics. How did you improve so much? Only playing a lot did not help me. Lately I am playing 10/12 hrs per week but my game doesn't show any signs of improvement.
Well there is not a magic formula that helps everyone improve their game. Each person has different difficulties and needs. Without seeing you playing will be hard for everyone to help you improve your game. I would suggest to talk to a tennis coach you recognize quality, make a couple of sessions so he can see in more detail what needs to be done in order to improve.
In general playing with a better partner you're skills will improve over time. Also watching some videos try to practice some specific shots what are you looking for and if you can afford a ball machine you can practice by yourself. Hope that was helpful. Good luck!
I'd be keen to know too. Took the VS out for a demo and really liked it. I'm coming from quite a heavy 18x20 control stick but the VS still felt good. My only initial thought was that it lacked a bit of plough through and perhaps could do with a bit more weight overall.
Customise however you want. This is all personal and you will need to find your own spec ideally. I'll give you mine though as an example. I'm only testing it at moment as a potential switch but very impressive frame at moment. Ive added 1.6g of bluetac inside handle at handle base and 4.4g of lead at 9:30 and 2:30. Keep in mind quality control sucks. I added this weight after determining the individual specs of mine (and it was overspec). Brought the swing weight to 338. Super good. This setup basically increases spin potential and consistency with my swing style and allows me to swing bigger with more confidence, as well as hit a heavier ball with the decent swing weight. Despite the light weight it feels very stable with my single hander because of the swing weight and the extra stability it provides.
I contemplated switching to the Extreme tour because of how good it is on the one handed bh but it really folded up when I took a big flat cut on the fh side.
as you previously spoke, PLEASE BABO, bring back the PR DRIVE's thicker string pattern. 98 Head of the VS may be helpful with the 16x20 , BUT , all comes to everyone's personal choice of everything in our tennis happy world! Always enjoying to hear from you TN. Thank you
No idea re the pure control 95. Guessing something like the Dunlop cx 200, the 95 version, would be somewhat within range. Re the pure drive and the Trebound 298 Iga racket, I'd say if you like one you'll probably like the other, especially if matched spec wise to whatever it is you like. I actually switched from the pure drive to the Trebound 298 Iga racket recently. Note I have my own personal specs so I've never tried the Iga racket in stock form. But for me it required very little adjustment. The Iga racket is basically a pure drive Vs but more controlled/dialed in, so I feel if you like one you need to test the other. The pure aero Vs will be within a similar range as well, but I haven't personally tried it yet but hope to very soon. I'm saying that I think you can play the same tennis with the pure drive and the iga racket, but it comes down to which variation of the same formula suits you most. Players who don't play with a ton of spin will prefer the Iga by a margin though I'd say on average, but if you play with a lot of rpms it might be a close call. The Iga racket feels a little softer at impact. More boom with the pure drive. Both great for serves, slices, and putting the ball away and/or loading the ball with spin. The Iga racket gives me more confidence playing closer to the lines of course. The thinner/smaller head size Iga racket whips around faster even at the same spec, which is a real treat on the run and when short on time in a rally.
Switched to the extreme tour from the speed mp. A bit less power and spin but a lot more control and feel. The little you loose is overcompensated with what you gain. Incredible for my ohbh. 2 grams at 12 and the power difference disappears. Still have the speed, great frame too. Babolats destroyed my arm, too stiff. Not going back.
Hi, Jonas. You uploaded a review of the Angell TC97 a few years ago. How would the TC97 this compare to a Pro Staff or an RF97? Would it be inbetween the two?
They compare well - the Angell is a bit more dampened and comfortable. Depending on the specs you choose, you can turn it into a PS97 or an RF97, this is the benefit of Angell Custom racquets.
Great vid thx! Like what I hear about Extreme Tour, and would like your thoughts on how it compares to Yonex Ezone 98 (which I like and I think is less whippy than Vcore 98 for example (more touch and a bit more controlled power, but less spin).
what string setup do you like on the head extreme tour? I switch between full bed of head hawk touch and hybrid of head lynx tour + hawk touch. Unfortunately depending on the day i like one more than the other :-(
Using the same combo: hawk touch 16 in mains, lynx tour 17 in crosses @ 52lbs. Feels great imo. If I have to try something else I’ll go with Alu Power in mains, Element rough in crosses for a plusher feeling.
@@josebastian9667 honestly the full bed of hawk touch feels better to me the first 45 minutes. After that I feel a great degradation and inevitably it breaks soon. I get more play time from the hybrid
It is a very hollow feeling racquet. Not terribly stiff though, but not great in the feel department. I played with this racquet for about a year and my arm got used to it. I also had a lead in the 3 &9 position and used a leather grip plus overfrip.
@@timothybaker6596 thanks for your response :) Would you say the cortex technology helps with the dampening of vibrations? And how open is the string pattern? Would you say it has a very high launch angle or is it fairly controlled? Thanks again
@@timothybaker6596 FYI, I am currently using the babolat pure strike 18x20 1st gen which I really like because it gives me loads of control which I need for my game. I am looking for a racket that has a similar amount of control as my current racket but just gives a bit more spin, and I am hoping that the pure aero VS is the one, because I have played with an aero pro drive in the past and I really love the aeromodular beam.
Hi, what are the benefits of foam filled rackets? I have heard they give vibration dampening but do they increase the playability of the frame in terms of stability etc?
Yes, but cause it to be slightly more head heavy with higher swing weight. So maneuverability & racquet head speed suffers while stability and plow increases. It’s a nice feeling but you will feel the downsides on a day where you don’t feel 100%
Hey how are you? I don’t know if you remember but I’m the guy who is having shoulder pain, I commented on one of your TH-cam videos. I use rpm blast and tou told me to go to a softer poly. Which one would you recommend for me to try it. Let me know and thank you.
Hi Enzo, all good, just got back from Rome. I would look into Solinco Hyper-G Soft, TopSpin Cyber Flash, Volkl Cyclone Tour or Wilson Revolve Spin. Go for a lower tension for better comfort.
Another great video... I'm not sure if you've tried Yonex VCore SV 98, looks quite similar to these rackets. It's a 98 sq inch, 16x20 string pattern. I keep going back to the SV 98 because of the backhand. I also got a one-handed and it just doesn't feel right/natural and takes a long time to adjust.

@@fingersm felt like it was bending on impact, not stable at all. Kind of a similar feel if you’ve ever hit with a $30 racket from Walmart
@@FearhandWinner u gotta lead that thing up Johnny. It’s a platform frame
as you previously spoke, PLEASE BABO, bring back the PR DRIVE's thicker string pattern. 98 Head of the VS may be helpful with the 16x20 , BUT , all comes to everyone's personal choice of everything in our tennis happy world! Always enjoying to hear from you TN. Thank you
Could you comare babolate pure drive team with head instinct s ??
What racquets do you think are similar to the babolat pure control 95?
Also how would you compare the pure drive with the new iga technifibre.
How would you compare to a speed? Seems like that would be more in the middle of the power/spin and the control?
How would you say these two compare to Yonex‘s version of the „control oriented spin racket“ the Vcore 95?
I will deal with that in a separate video, because this is an interesting comparison!
The Vcore is more control oriented and has a softer feel.
Extreme tour compared to Vcore Pro ( or Vcore 95 ) is definitely something I would love to see
you know what racquet is missing in this comparison right? starts with Y and finishes with ONEX VCORE 98.
Good point! I will make a separate video dealing with the VCORE 98 compared to these and perhaps a few other modern frames.
Great vid thx! Like what I hear about Extreme Tour, and would like your thoughts on how it compares to Yonex Ezone 98 (which I like and I think is less whippy than Vcore 98 for example (more touch and a bit more controlled power, but less spin).
Would u add any weight to the vs?
what string setup do you like on the head extreme tour?
What is the comfort of the Pure Aero VS like?
It is a very hollow feeling racquet. Not terribly stiff though, but not great in the feel department. I played with this racquet for about a year and my arm got used to it. I also had a lead in the 3 &9 position and used a leather grip plus overfrip.
If I can answer any more questions about this racket for you I’m more than happy to
@@timothybaker6596 thanks for your response :) Would you say the cortex technology helps with the dampening of vibrations?
Go for a lower tension for better comfort.
what about the Beast 98?
Another great video... I'm not sure if you've tried Yonex VCore SV 98, looks quite similar to these rackets. It's a 98 sq inch, 16x20 string pattern. I keep going back to the SV 98 because of the backhand. I also got a one-handed and it just doesn't feel right/natural and takes a long time to adjust.
The Jonas has spoken 😇🙏
Prince Textreme 310 16x 18 our Extreme Tour?
I am going to say Extreme Tour for me personally. Softer feel and better control
@@Tennisnerd Big fan of the Textreme 310, - discovered it through one of your earlier videos, so thank you. I think a comparison with it and the Speed MP would be quite apt. Maybe throw in a Pure Strike 16x19?
Thanks for helping me to sell my pair of babolat pure aero vs :)
Glad I could help! :D
I'll take the HEAD any day over the Bab. I'm no Lemming, and Babs just feel like shit!
👍
Нашел чего сравнивать!!🤣Ты б ещё дохлого ежа с щеткой сравнил!!
The aero VS is basically the halloween candy corn of 98s- its 100% mediocre in every regard.
The ET 98 outclasses it in all respects, but then again, all yonex 98s do as well.
Hi Jonas, I am trying to contact you on WhatsApp.. I know also Joao because we played together in Swieqi.. hope we can have some sparring with you one day!! Compliments for the video!!
