- LATE MATIP WINNER! LIVERPOOL 2-1 AJAX | CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCH VLOG. Despite a much improved performance from the Reds (I mean, they scored first and everything!), Mo Salah saw his goal levelled up by Kudus. With Liverpool battling hard second half for the win, it came from the towering figure of the brilliant Joel Matip to send Anfield into raptures and back the first 3 points of the Champions League campaign.

I also thought Kostas was impeccable. He’s a really enjoyable player and turning into my favourite along with Robbo on the squad. Has that Danny Agger, Lucas Leica vibe about him where hes always smiling on the pitch while just going into tackles full tilt.
Knew we would win tonight, I took my my lucky charm... My son. He's 11 and never seen us lose at Anfield in a competitive game. His little face coming out of the ground was just brilliant. @MaychTV he met you at Lime St station after the Final in Feb. Thought tsmikas played very well. Played against an experienced player (Tadic). And stuck with him fantastically. Also a shoutout to jota who I thought was a constant threat.
How we missed Thiago and Jota and Joel Matip we looked better today let’s hope we keep going and get to winning ways
Thiago was effing awesome. Definitely missed him. Unlucky in some aspects not to score more but who cares right now, Liverpool have 3 points, that's all that matters at the moment.

This was my first game, thought the atmosphere was incredible, backed the boys, we've had better performances but 3 points in the bag

This is why the media the commentators all love watching Klopp’s team play and the Liverpool player’s always have a smile on there faces this why Liverpool have more games shown live because of the way we play.
Klopp loves this beautiful family club called Liverpool fc, players will go through brick walls for Klopp but we needed this break to only have 2 weeks rest then back in training was just ridiculous. Last against Ajax we showed lots of glimpses of what Liverpool do they still fight for every ball ⚽️ until the whistle blows for full time. But Thiago was just a joy to watch and boy I am so glad he chosen Liverpool fc. What a player he truly is having him back is just perfect time and the way he walked around after being substituted waving his hands up to rally the crowd but boy I do wish he was 6 years younger just like Klopp said but he said he wished he was 5 years younger. Just a true gentleman on and off the pitch as well. Roll on October or the end of September. 3 points is 3 points know matter how you play. Roll on the next Premier League game.
Then the way Matip played at the back along with Kostas what defenders they are but the way matter plays out of defence and beats man after man just reminds me of Alan Hansen a true legend of Liverpool fc.
Kostas has already proven just how good he really is but a win is a win and that feeling when Matip scored you could see his passion and desire what a player he is turning out to be by Klopp and the recruiting team.
This why we love Liverpool fc this is the worlds biggest family football ⚽️ club in the world. Bring on the next game, we lose together and we win together if there is one man who can turn our rubbish start we are still only 6 points behind Arsenal and the teams around are having a great start to the season is just the challenge Klopp loves full stop YNWA

Thiago is just something else he is the most decorated player in the premier league history. Just keep this man wrapped up in cotton balls. Kostas had a fantastic game but other teams I have out our right in Trent and nobody was tracking back and Harvey doesn’t track back Salah use to but not anymore.
This break came at the right time because the players played all 63+1 hour after extra time in 2 of the cup finals. We had only a two week of rest then they reported back to training again now we have the break we truly needed and now (touch wood) this break as I truly said before we are hopefully back and this is great news in my view thanks to the Manc’s beating Arsenal and we are only now still only six points and we are not at our best and Liverpool will bounce back as they always do. YNWA

Thiago is one very special player and he loves this club and you can see it as he deliberately walked around the about of the dug out, I truly wish he was 6 years younger, but he is well and truly and elite and world class superstar he truly is and he has won everything that Ronaldo and Messi have never done and that is winning the Euros and the World Cup not bad hey and then add all the domestic trophies 🏆 he has won in Europe and now he wants to finish his career at Anfield I just loved when he is waving his arms to get more crowd involved again just to push the team over the line.
What want to say is what a games Kostas played he is the really deal that is for sure, absolutely fantastic left back and the change in him is just truly remarkable. When videos where film he looked like a deer 🦌 caught in headlights, but then when he got his chance the Moment he was surrounded by 5 Burnley or West Ham he still kept the ball ⚽️ while on the fall in front of the dug out with Klopp and Pep and the rest of the coaching staff where in dreamland think is this for really in what I am see in Kostas? Then he came away with the ball and still found a team mate and when he got subbed he did the same thing as what Thiago did as the whole of Anfield rose as one to acknowledge what the fans had just witnessed and it was like the Andy Robertson when he went chasing nearly every City player and now we know why Kostas he was outstanding last night as was Luis Diaz yet again running himself through so many brick walls and I am so glad he chose Liverpool fc because boy did he hit the ground running what a buy he is.
But for me we won, Mo Salah finally got on the goal sheet absolutely brilliant news he scored and now could this kick start his goal scoring habit which is fantastic news but for me the best Centre Backs are Matip and Van Dijk this is well and truly are very best Centre Back pairing in my view.
But this break has come as good news for the players who played 63 games and 1 hour of extra time and penalties as well.

every time I watch Thiago its like watching a artist on the pitch his control his passing is amazing don't go to matches so would be interested to know how highly the fans who go to the game rate him is he up there with the greats you have had in midfield also was wondering if van dyke has been of the pace partly because of Matip being out i think he seems to play better when matip is next to him

Thiago letting the Kop know how he felt about Ajax crowd being much louder throughout the match.
100% he was basically telling us to be louder and get behind them to help. Does my head in when everyone’s all nervous and silent when we know how much being loud can help the team. Takes something to happen like a goal or even a good tackle to get the crowd up these days. Imagine if we could produce the atmosphere we do when it’s going good regardless of the score.

We could and probably should have scored 3 goals in total. But this was clear improvement from the previous games. Thiago probably needs to be rotated with Arthur if possible to keep fit. Matip was great and its' clear one of the keys to our success last season was the rotation between Matip and Konaté so hopefully he comes back soon as well

My friend said that was Elliott worse game he has seen this season, I however disagree I think his level was similar it is just the rest of the team played better so he was not a shining light! My mate is a yank :) but a true red (placement of the ball for throw ins and free kicks winds him up as we are both big NFL fans) and we were talking about if we changed the game to be 60 mins but stopped the time for every stoppage therefore no more time-wasting, well a lot less :) !
Elliott should not be in the starting XI. But there isn’t much better options. Elliott is not in the form he was before the injury.

i dont care what anyone thinks, yes matip is long and looks clumsy, not a pretty style or attractive technique but by god is he world class and easily top 5 center backs on the planet.

I was so looking forward to a big European night at Anfield under the lights. It was a much improved performance from us, but what surprised me the most was how quiet the Kop was. There was more noise coming from the Main Stand.
