I can't believe you somehow got this piece from a Legoland where you could just grab pieces in colors that didn't exist. What other pieces might have just existed in such uncertain, never-before-heard colors?
Also, amazing use of the piece! Having only just one makes it harder to use for something larger, but that's the perfect size.

Believe it or not, but I was able to grab a few more “Legoland pieces” from this same seller - 2 of which will be the topic of a similar video in the future. 😊
And thank you! I was so happy to get this MOC right - it’s one I’m really proud of. ❤️

The 2x2x3 corner slope had a transparent variant that was only used in Legoland parks. I know because I remember a Lego car builder used four of them to make the headlights on a Ferrari and mentioned that that’s where they came from.

Weird, I swear I have at least one in Dark Gray and one in Light Gray.
It's been so long since I broke out my childhood Lego totes, I'll need to cross reference what I have. A lot of what I've seen you mention as "rare" I have a few of over the past week or so since I found your channel.
I'm finally getting back to collecting after nearly 15 years of not picking up new sets! Thanks for helping me find my way back to Lego. LoL

Whoa, I have never seen that piece before! That would be outrageously useful for building more "accurate" houses as a wall mount; put the outside wall on the studs, and then an interior facing in the grooves!
We need more of that piece for sure! And your use for it, as well, is delightful!
I'm honestly kinda annoyed that LEGO keeps all the good parts for themselves. We want all the pieces!

    • @RRSlugger
      @RRSlugger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It's certainly a strange little piece with a long career, yet very few retail releases. It must have been used extensively in Miniland scaled Legoland builds or something because it seems like they made them in a ton of other colours too (just never for retail)!

@@TheHylianBatman what they all do is release Parts packs with some interesting parts and stuff you just don't see much and maybe some theme called extra parts or something like that you know the next step of Lego extra but where you get just selections of parts to enhance your models I know they did a bit of that but I mean it things that you don't see especially in certain colors but yet could be interesting incorporate I mean models or be quite useful but you don't normally see in larger quantities and so on might be like having snot breaks and maybe some of 1x2 bricks with grooves and also some of the Ingot bricks in possibly a pack that would also include some of the brick profile bricks as in the ones that look like brickwork as in my red bricks on a house something like this might just work perhaps in different themes of different types of parts and available in several different colors.
Or maybe a kid designed to do things like flooring and windows and so on and roofs more for the 18 plus crowd.
Might have stuff to do to pitch screws using Warden just slopes including the ball joints and some stuff to just get fancy with bottles and enough to actually do a small section at least of a model.
We're kind of like an expansion pack to help integrate different structures into your Lego setup such as maybe transition sections for modular buildings perhaps where you might have maybe a back alley and this would get you started.
I doubt this would ever happen but it would be cool or maybe occasionally release limited runs of things that would have those parts that you don't see in certain colors just available for even a limited time and perhaps things like that being there.
Or maybe release something called studs not on top series and have some pretty cool stuff or perhaps one that would be things like the stuff to build light fixtures and coach lights and not just street lights and at least include parts to build a chandelier as well maybe even throwing in a few LED bricks with white LEDs and them I don't know if they exist yet officially!
I know they have the Amber but as far as I know not white as of yet!
I hope that that comes out soon enough if not sooner.
It's all possible to build wide switches that mechanically operate with these light brakes to operate light in a Lego room or otherwise finally got the parts to work on this!
By the way got the most awesome Christmas this year ahead of the holidays!
First trip to bricks and minifigures ever and ditto on Lego retail store talk about adult then of Lego heaven!
Would encourage anyone if there is an opportunity go to those places you won't regret it.
Oh and yeah unlike what some have said online there is still the discount for bringing back your pickup brick cups for reuse.
Can't remember the exact amount but you'll find it on the web just throwing that out there plus they're well designed containers anyways and definitely going to be using those you won't have to worry about the lids coming off unless you want to as long as you're on properly that's a lot better than going up to your local gas station to get a soda I can tell you that

    • @aaronbrandenburg2441
      @aaronbrandenburg2441 ปีที่แล้ว

And yes I agree that it'd be interesting to try to do some construction as in more realistic than plopping bricks on top of each other as in like more like what would be done in constructing a real world house in theory it could be done the handles large wall element pieces here and there it was close but not quite.
That even went back as far as some Duplo sets and not to mention well that Girls theme that will not be mentioned by name although we did get some interesting parts that are quite useful in their own right but most Parts not quite as useful out of those two themes meant for girls but not limited to which of course I actually did want to get some of the parts from there that could have been really useful for some large builds.
Got my eye on doing a train tunnel eventually and some type of locomotive Workshop not on bike what was officially released although better.
There are those awkward pieces that are larger that are windows with the double sloped Windows either side and I think a good use for those would be for a covered train station even though really some people would really go further in just either do clear pieces and hinges or otherwise it would be a way to do it effectively but without breaking the bank not only on money but in terms of the number of parts needed when I look down at some parts I'm like wait a sec this would be great for a train station like this or even an Atrium on a building or also even large interior space and I already threw together a prototype of an entrance to something like a doctor's office or otherwise where you've got the doors and often times the sloped Windows above.
And you would know there's also the let's call them bow or Arch pieces that have the same profile pretty much.
If those are combined oh yeah plus easily lines up with a standard brick construction they would not perfectly but it's doable with the right parts.
Either the newer taller window and door pieces or the older shorter ones.
Looking to hopefully find a bay window piece for a large bay window in a house Mark I'm looking to build as well.
Don't forget not just studs done on top but using it plates and tiles to fit things like Windows sideways and others and even just using one by one clear plates to represent glass block.
And doing Brick Road window frames and using the transfer clear as window panes.
Even using possibly the horror and the illegal building technique to stick the mullion in the middle of a window to produce Windows more pains than the standard windows are.
What I need to have is pieces are specifically meant to do this with so that illegal building text means wouldn't be no longer illegal that would be a plus but then again with does not on top and bracket pieces now that might become a reality or just creative Parts usage sometimes might be able to solve this issue and yeah I think we've all done the illegal building techniques at least once in our life especially as kids about that again some of them also well have eaten or accidentally swallowed a Lego for you I do actually know someone that did once wasn't me but seriously is okay though.
And this was not a kid well friends was trying to separate two pieces and not doing it the right way and guess what happened yep down the oh esophagus.
He said that's probably about the only time he'd ever been gone to ER when working with Lego he did get checked out they said it would pass he said that he was expecting it to be almost like passing out like a kidney stone but he said he didn't even notice it luckily it was a one by one round plate so probably made it better for him where to wise don't use your teeth besides could do more harm to the Lego piece as well!
100% true story that I knew someone years ago and found out long time ago that it happened yeah and they talk about kids doing something like that this guy was well seasoned enough to know not to do this but well just don't is better idea.
I'm sure you've heard of someone trying to replace a battery in something with a button cell and well it's something happening I have also heard a kid swallowing a penny or a dime years ago and they still talk about it haven't known anyone to swallow a battery but it's possible does tiny button cells could easily have this happen although not in the family I do one person that had that happen when I had mentioned batteries it was someone that I knew into medical industry told me this that it was one of his family members.
      Possibly a hearing aid cell.

I've been buying sets that I always wanted as a kid, mainly sets from the late 1990s, the kind that I would have drooled over in catalogues and displays and one of those sets was 6456 Mission Control. I got four of this piece in yellow, where it's used to stabilize the rocket on the launch pad. It's such an interesting SNOT piece from back in the day, and it made me wish I'd had the piece sooner when I was a kid - what creations would I have come up with? My Lego MOC building techniques are still rooted in the 90s, brick on brick, and I'm not too good with modern Lego SNOT techniques in MOC making.
Anyway, great video as always! You always knock it out of the park with the production values. Can't wait for the Twisted Time Train in Time Cruisers!

I have 4 yellow ones from 1999 space mission control set and 4 black ones from 1995 space rocket set.
In general through the years ran into bunch of black ones probably from the repair truck and pirate sets since they were quite common and popular back in a day so as those space rocket launch control whatevers .... they were quite popular in general.
I don't remember using these for much just a forklift build one time and that is it. Such an odd piece never could utilize it for my builds. Usually I made vehicles in minifig scale and this piece isn't much for those. Maybe if I would have much more of it, it could be great for truck structures especially cargo bay box pieces, other then that no clue. The offset is what makes it weird to use.
Something tells me I either have-had or seen the grey one too, can't tell ... considering how hard is to obtain this I would rather say it got to be a bootleg one and not official.
For those who don't know LEGO actually stole and still to this day steals designs from bootleg toys. It's ironic how they steal things from each other meanwhile LEGO being the one ignorantly parading legal patent claims and lawsuits like it matter anything ...

That piece seems actually very useful, it can be used for stuff like support beams, street light bases, as well as completely unique sliding mechanisim designs with that lack of antistuds.
I can imagine using these on walls to make it look like they are concrete reinforced with steel bars up the sides in tough looking building designs.
I also can see a good use for them jn mech or creature designs as this compresses the job that normally must be done with more pieces while taking up more space.
I actually adore this piece as it can do so many things I wish I had a better way to do previously and I am greatly upset knowing this piece is both rare but that it doesn't have many in such a highly usable color like dark grey.

Was trying to remember what set I have that uses this...and ah-ha! It's in two legendary space sets: 6989 Mega Core Magnetizer (red), and set 6990, Monorail Transport (black).
What's cool about this bracket piece is it'snot only SNOT, it's also a jumper piece--the SNOT part is jumpered. This feature seems useful for shaping the prow of a ship or vehicle if you put attached this bracket to another SNOT assembly, such that the 1x4 portion is oriented horizontally.

Clever stuff! I like what you ended up building! The rack gear part was the first thing that came to mind for me with that texture, but I imagine I would have been building something without that rare starting brick that is the basis for this video.
With that part, what immediately comes to mind for me is the drag racing Christmas tree. Probably the perfect color for it, too; while black would in theory be more accurate, using transparent yellow, green, and red would not show up very clearly placed directly on it.

I love the weird old offset/SNOT pieces. Kinda wondering where the pieces are used in sets, though! Guess I gotta go do some digging as I may have at least one of them myself! :)
EDIT: Indeed I have a flea-market find of the 6268 Renegade Runner, though currently unbuilt (and never fully complete I think), and I have the 6456 Mission Control set in amazing condition sitting on my shelf from a recent Bricklink score! The latter one uses this piece to stabilize the vertical space shuttle on the mobile part of the launch site (clearly inspired by the giant moving platforms that used to wheel rockets into place from the Cape Canaveral Assembly Hall to the Launch Tower). It fits quite snugly!
I sadly can't remember how the former uses this piece, though I would guess it would be something to do with the mast, a very hard to accomodate piece outside of its full-scale double-sail bearing system!

    • @RRSlugger
      @RRSlugger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Oh, I love the way 6456 uses the piece! Such a clever function that other pieces just wouldn't quite capture. I would be interested in figuring out how the Renegade Runner manages to make use of it too; I might have to look up the instructions and find out. 😊

I was similarly confused when I came across a Light Gray 4169 which appears to be in the same family. It has a 2x3 tile for a base and then a part sticking up like yours but facing the other way around with three studs on it. According to Rebrickable it was only in 11 sets between 1980 and 1988 and used mainly for holding up telegraph poles.

That groove for the platform is very reminiscent of an actual piece that was actually used with part 2422. It was this very odd, almost zipper-like piece with a groove on one side and stud attatchments on the back (I think that's right, not great with Lego terminology). It was used in 6990 Monorail Transport System, which I'm lucky enough to own. Definitely a great way to use 2422 if you have it.

  • @aaronbrandenburg2441
    @aaronbrandenburg2441 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey out there in Lego fanatic land.
When I first saw this part in any color first one I had was in white it was in one of those police stations I'm not sure what era of Lego this was is too far back it was one I had gotten for Christmas like a lot of them at least back in the day since it was kind of an expensive thing and still is nonetheless but yeah expensive Hobby as we probably all know that's out of the way now!
I seem to remember that set may have been around 25 or $30 or close to that even back in the day but in that set what the one in white was used for was to support a lettuce piece also known as a signal mast used in the 12 volt train era for things like the lights and also signals and just about a lot of other things you name it in trouble trains even sometimes it appearing as a ramp or even on a mobile crane.
Also in that police said it was the one that came with two or so of the raised parts one head of ramp and the other just a flat Road area it's the ones that were often used on sets for a dark or other structure and on some of the train stations back in the day in the 9 volt era!
But back to the part in question in my case in white as I mentioned!
And also I believe this one might have been well at least in part in the design-wise derived from possibly the part that was used to support those signal posts in the 12 volt era but of course both of those would have been an old gray at the time.
That was a rather interesting piece itself and it had a very specific purpose and had some very specific features because of this.
For one thing where at the bottom there was a notch and then a little bit sticking up that when a single Mast had been in attached to the studs on the upright portion of this part would be closed off.
The idea would have been to be able to clamp a 12 volt/4.5 volt electrical cable there so as to be able to secure it in place pretty novel for a specific piece.
I think the part it has been referred to in the video might have been some type of derivative or possibly they got the idea for this piece from this.
I think I've got a few of these pieces the original ones you're referring to and I've got a few of the ones that would normally appear in old gray in the 12 volt trains sets.
    But they are in white.
I think if I remember correctly they came from a classic space set I think I got all the ones from the same set that I have.
The other day I threw together a train light post to show someone of an idea of what a Cobalt train light would look like set up as a track light or station light for an overhead light pole.
Just For What parts I had and no I never did have 12 volt trains although the hope is to be able to do this for the future!
Although there's a few issues when you live in the United States with doing this only downside to it!!!
That and having enough room to set everything up of course!
But if you have enough threat Parts enough of all the Lego Hardware all generations including back to 4.5 volt blue era in some cases!
Using everything that's available to your advantage you can do some pretty cool stuff.
Even throwing in a few power function Servo Motors a few of the infrared receivers and the sensor units as I'll call them that work with the above.
There were things back in the day that even work for the NXT as well and more plus third party stuff of course that is officially supported that is.
Also since the rcx is a brand and you can run alternate firmware of course there's other ways to do this but yeah can leverage a lot more powerful things than just what the stock my storm software did for us back then!
You know with most things there's always some backwards compatibility in one way or another with different Lego Systems I think the lowest cost mine storms ish thing think Droid developer.
And it had the ability to take commands over visual light Link over a fiber optic cable more so than you think you do things speak that language you can say.
Even things as weird and odd and seemingly not very useful is bybiotics oh no is very capable depending on how it's put to use and use with what other devices and maybe a few custom pieces of hardware would not be out of the picture.
One of the real issues is getting stuff to work with modern computer equipment although there are solutions that work sometimes even better than they would have originally on Modern Hardware as in like gpio pins!
Something like and aldrino board addicted to the Lego interface a you've got 450 motor control into touch sensors or light sensors not not be much but it's something that could really be could put good use.
Combine that with the Lego interface B oh yeah automation anyone.
Yeah sure parallel and cereal ports but on the right system and right Hardware no problem.
Not to mention an operating system that's much more flexible than you know apple or Microsoft yeah I'm talking Lenox OS.
The thing with the interface a is you could easily just bit bang the inputs and received the two outputs!
By the way the original intent was to make that compatible with the parallel port directly which can be done.
There are plans for this online.
They did something rather clever to be able to get power for the logic side of this regarding the actual parallel interface essentially you have two lines that stay high logic level uses a pair of them to have enough power to operate that side of things since everything is optically isolated of course for safety of computer hardware.
Also for a lot of the Lego Hardware that uses a power adapter it's a lot more flexible than one might think once you get into it.
If for example one thing that could be of interest combine a power function Servo motor with the throttle of the 12 volt train transformer you got remote control train controls.
In theory the skin that even be done with the novel train speed regulator as well they're actually is a way to couple that we are knob reliably.
Oh by the way need 4.5 volts on your 12 volt layout simple flip the throttle knob upside down bingo 0 to to 4.5 volt for reverse and stop variable.
Note the connection for the throttle knob is a technic axle!!!
There is a way to build a train regulator handle that exploits this as well using a set of 90° gearing and a few technique parts and system brick.
And if you really know your way around electrical it's easy enough to use both the single conductor plugs and two conductor plugs to really do some interesting things there is a ton of different switches electrical switches that are available back in the day actually a lot more flexible than 12 volt and 4.5 volt system something that really should not have been so hard to do I believe and takes a lot more parts and less flexible but yet more flexible at the same time take it either way
