    G'day Jimmy boy.. another Down Under view here. Looking at a Rans s12 that is for sale here at the moment with a 582 on her.. Would be my first aircraft. Just wanting your input on the way they fly and would it be a good choice.. Thanks Mate. Looking forward into hearing from you..

      Hi dexter, I like the way they fly, they handle well with no surprises, and having flaps is a plus. I also like the Kolb MK III (folding wings are great), also had something very similar to the kolb (but can't recall the name of it and sold it before it was completed). I'm off the ground in 250' in my rans and cruise around 65 - 70 mph. Thanks and happy flying!

      Ferguson II is the ultralight, semi-symetrical wings, larger main fuselage tube and wing tubes (6"), compared to the 5" kolb tubes. I wish I would have kept it. I planned on putting a bmw rs1100 (?) Motorcycle engine on it.

    Ouch! that landing was so hard, my S-12 felt it! To be fair, though, it's a tough plane to land in a crosswind. It will, however, handle a 35 mph crosswind.

      Nice video. Love the trees. I fly my S12 in Chicago, city views. Mine has a 582 blue head. I like to use position 2 flaps and I keep some power and she greases the ground.

    Where did you get your front fork for the bigger tires?

    • @jimmyboy163
      @jimmyboy163  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The plane already had the big tires(and fork), but I ordered the updated (beefed up) front fork from Rans

    Do you have an N-Number on it? I am possibly doing a deal with a guy here in FL for and S-12XL with the 912ULS 100HP on it, was wondering what you had to do to get it numbered

    Hi Jimmyboy, I live in Oz downunder and fly a '95 S12. I have never been happy with the plumbing on my plane which I have owned for 5 years. I have been looking at alternative ways to route the hoses and like the simplicity of your setup. You've been flying a few months now since you put this video up, how have you found it and is it still working as well as you had hoped it to ?

    • @jimmyboy163
      @jimmyboy163  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi downunder!! Now that I've got the plumbing routed like the ROTAX manual shows (and not the RANS manual), every thing is great. Have only flown twice since the video (it's been cold and wet here), but about 5 times since rerouting it. No more trouble mate! Thanks for the note Dennis. Safe flights!

      @@jimmyboy163 Thanks for the rapid reply. Yes, understand and know the way way weather gets in the way of us having fun. Likewise, I've not had much chance to fly since November due to the weather but here its been very hot and windy. I think I will likewise re-arrange my plumbing on the S12 as I certainly am not happy with the way it is now.

      Hi jimmyboy, I modified the cooling systems on my rans as we were discussing and I am very happy with it so-far but I only have flown about 2 hours since the changes were made so more flight time is needed but I am pleased as it stands now. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated.

    What’s your takeoff roll at gross?

    • @jimmyboy163
      @jimmyboy163  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmm, I never really measured that, but two adults and close to full tanks, and one notch of flaps I would guess about 400-450'.
