It's one thing that sure it's happened before. The way the injury to batherson and the hit to stone seem to be premeditated intent to catch the players off guard. For sure if we want to protect goalies it can't happen. Or they're gonna be fair game when they leave the crease and thats just not going to end well. My 2 cents atleast
Since Dell was the one to initiate the contact the oweness is on him for the injury. Considering he has a history of making similar dangerous hits as a "protected" player in that situation a suspension is well deserved.
NHL : " we do not believe Kreider did this on purpose" Every forward in the league : averages 0.4 collisions like this in their career Kreider sitting at 11 of these now : 😇😇😇
Carey Prices hit on Krider is just full on revenge after Krider crashed into him in the playoffs lol I love it, just that look he gives him when he’s down 1:47
Dell’s a bum who can barely keep a job as a backup. Wilson is one of the best 2 way forwards in the league and even made the all star game this year. Pretty terrible comparison ngl.
I think it'd be easier to keep it the way it is now, since if we change the rules there's gonna be a lot of gray areas around when you can and can't hit a goalie and we may see some people get seriously hurt.
I think the biggest problem with most of these clips is that the goalie’s are hitting illegally. They’re going low (tripping), leaving their feet (boarding) or hitting players nowhere near the puck (interference.) There’s no rule saying you aren’t allowed to make contact with the goalie if he’s playing the puck outside of the crease. Otherwise every goalie would try and pull a Patrick Roy and skate the puck to center ice
The thing is, players aren't allowed to hit goalies. So when they come together with one they are trying to avoid contact instead of preparing for it and the goalie can hit the shit out of unsuspecting player. Not to mention they never get called out for it because the whole team protects them. Gutless I'd say.
Thinking the same, they know full well they’ll get away scot free. And the worst part is some of them even stand there fucking showboating while their team moves in to protect them.
Aaron Dell should win the Bryan Marchment award for biggest cheap shot of the year from Tom Wilson but Brad Marchand should still get suspended for it.
well, usually the NHL likes taller players for a goalie, so most of them are atleast 6'2 without their skates on. That, plus the muscle mass they need to put on while training and their equipement, pads and gloves included, they train with all their equiment on when they're on the ice, so it makes their mass considerably bigger than the other players. it's a bit like a smart coliding with a pickup truck. Bigger moving objects generate more force even when slower speed compared to smaller objects, since you need more force to move a bigger mass. so even at low speed their mass is considerabely more than that of the players. so when player go towards a golie and they just push them a bit, poof, player goes flying. Even more so when you just try to redirect them rather than coliding full on face to face, that stops the momentum and the goalie need to push a little more to redirect the force to the player who colided with him, so a face on contact will obviously result in a smaller distance made by the player who felt when compared to a bump.
Tim Thomas's hit on Henrik Sedin still tickles me to this day. Tim was really a cantankerous bastard. He fit right in with the hit everything and fight everyone attitude of the Bees at the time.
@@iXShadow Technically that was a legal hit. Look where the puck was. Was the puck in Thomas's possession? Meh. So could he hit Sedin. Sure. He hit Sedin more out of protection for his life than anything else. The rule is the goalie has possession of the puck he can hit anybody. Now in the crease I'm sorry what part of being vulnerable do you not understand. Goalies will protect themselves. Forget me being a Bruins fan for a moment I have seen Carey Price on numerous occasions take guys out and give them the business for their actions in taking him out or even trying(Kreider). I am all for it. With the speed of players today and the posts now moving players really have no fear anymore.
All of Dell’s hits in this video are illegal lol, like cmon bro if you’re gonna hit someone the odd chance you get to as a goalie don’t take a penalty, tbh Tim Thomas does it perfectly, just shove them out of the crease
As a goalie, I don’t like goalies hitting players outside the blue paint. Inside the paint is fair game, thats our space. We can’t cry about getting leveled behind the net or out by the hash marks like Mike Smith or Ryan Miller were while also thinking this is ok. Puts the players in a lose-lose position and discourages hard forechecking which is not what you want. Also the surprise of a goalie randomly choosing to play the body can lead to injuries like the Dell-Batherson clip here.
If you leave the crease, you should be fair game. It is a blatantly unfair rule that if you're outside of the crease that you can't be hit, but you can hit others.
Tim Thomas hitting Sedin was an effective move in preventing a scoring chance and the one hit on here that was I see as perfectly legitimate. Price standing up Kreider, especially in context, also fair.
This is the best sport. I used to be such a fan of soccer, but now every time I watch it or even football, it’s too slow and too drawn out. Long live hockey 🏒
Hey delta highlights in a Waterloo blackhawks (ushl) game about a month ago a goalie missplayed the puck of the boards and bounced into the net super cool if that could get in a video
I hate the Bruins and I’ve never been a big fan of Tim Thomas, but that hit on Sedin and the push over his own defender were smart and hilarious plays. I think goalies should be allowed to throw hits, as long as players are allowed to counter
Aaron Dell got a 3 game suspension for the first hit, what do you guys think of the suspension?
Funny considering I’m a goalie, but fair. Hope the injured guy makes a speedy recovery
I think it should be longer considering the injury ended the rest of Drake Bathersons season
Since Dell was the one to initiate the contact the oweness is on him for the injury. Considering he has a history of making similar dangerous hits as a "protected" player in that situation a suspension is well deserved.

Price asserting dominance over Kreider.
Aaron Dell is the Tom Wilson of goalies

Hextall was an amazing player/goalie hybrid.
Definitely
The bruins goalie was on fire 🤣
At 1:15 we see both players out of balance doing everything to try and go around the net to avoid a collision. Goalie : "fk the both of y'all"
The clean hits are always funny.
I've always felt like hockey goalie's are super heroes that are just trying to keep their identities safe and live somewhat normal lives.
Timmy T hitting a Sedin in the 2011 cup finals was the icing on the cake 😂
Aaron Dell is absolutely claiming bodies
