These two artists are giants of the music world,we will never see the likes of them again,so sad that music has went downhill, but I still have all my albums, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Doors, Velvet underground, Love,Neil Young,Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd, The Byrds, Donovan, David Bowie,Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, The Band,Van Morrison, Simon and Garfunkel, The Who,Nick Drake, The Clash,Sex Pistols, The Jam, The Strangler's, Stone Roses, all great bands,we will never see their likes again. ✌️
I read somewhere that Neil was Linda McCartney's favorite musician. It must have been something special for these two to play with each other. They are world's apart in style, but equally magical in what they do.
Two of history's greatest singers of love songs/ballads. Yes, only love can break ones heart -- but, tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. I've lost two of my life's greatest loves -- My Catherine in 1977 (to a drunk-driver) and My Heavenly-Resplendent Barbra Rose (to cancer in November 2010). Sometimes, love exacts a heavy toll on us all. As long as we learn from it and love more deeply as life goes on. Thank you, Neil and Paul.
Fantastic. McCartney's harmony is really good - he moves with Young's sometimes out of tune voice. What a great rendition of this song! Absolutely love it and keep replaying it.
This is amazing to know these two are this close. Neil gave Paul's induction speech into the Hall of fame. I am a Neil fan been one forever, My Wife is crazy for Paul. Seems we belong together been 35 years now no one would have picked us as a couple either. We do not have much in common personality wise. Differences make for good bonds. Hearing these two play together, this song, is so sweet. My greatest fear is losing my Lori she isn't well. Only love can break your heart has so many meanings.
I see it has been three years since you posted this. I hope your dear Lori got better and you two have a long healthy future ahead. My dear Suzanne, who was a big fan of both Paul and Neil, died 3 months ago after a long series of illnesses (but she had many good moments the last few months, and she died peacefully in bed beside me rather than alone and in pain in a hospital - for that I am thankful). We were married 47 years, and my sorrow at losing her is balanced by my gratitude for what we had. Only love can break your heart, because only love can fill your heart that full. Peace and good wishes to you.
When Linda was fading as the cancer progressed she would ask Paul to put on early Neil Young -- knowing that gives this version a little more depth . . .
Such an honest and profound song! Perhaps Neil's best! Gotta love seeing Paul singing it with him! Two outstanding poets of lyrics of our generation right there! Bridge shool is such a wonderful event too! Thank you for posting this!
So many greats played those shows We had the concerts to our selves for years until the internet made it too popular and hard for us locals to our private gig. We went for 20 years? We were there when they played together. We were so spoiled for so long. We caught Neil at many tight lipped almost unannounced shows up from Santa Cruz to The Warfield north to small clubs small towns.
TWO OF THE BEST ROCKERS GETTING IT ON. THE FANS OF THIS GENERATION ARE TRULY BLESTED FOR THE SONGS THEY MADE FOR US TO TRULY ENJOY. ITS NOT A DAY GOES BY SOMEONE IS HUMMING A BEATLES OR A NEIL YOUNG SONG IN THERE HEAD. THANK YOU NEIL AND PAUL. SONGS LIVE FOR EVER. KEEP PLAYING ON AND ON FOR THE NEXT GENERATION TO ENJOY.
Thanks for the insightful comment. It was what I was thinking but unable to pinpoint exactly: "Truth that circumvents thought and gets right to the heart - not introspective but intuituve." Wonderful way of putting it. Also have to say McCartney's voice and band is great here and it's the best I've heard "Only Love" sound since the first time I heard it decades back. Ditto on thanking Neil Young for a lifetime of music and emotion. Thanks, too, to whoever posted the video.
Two of the world's most important philanthropic souls. Also great musicians ... poets. We reference your works to help us get by, and make sense of this tragic world. Thank you both, SO MUCH.
perfect harmonies from paul. best live bassist/guitarist/vocalist of all time. a real in the trenches journeyman musician.....billionaire. whoah. that's deep.
OOH WOW, Just boucin' around you tube and I ran into THIS JEWEL!! SOOO GOOD!! 2 of my favorite musicians singing 1 of my favorite songs. THANK YOU FOR POSTING! feel like I hit the music lottery ~~~~
What I love about this is that both are taking the other into much consideration. Neither one is trying to grab the lead or be the star. In their case and in this particular performance it really appears this attitude is coming from the heart and not a put on.
This is a really beatufiul song. Neil Young is amazing. I first discovered his music while I was living in Dominican Republic as a kid, his music reaches all places.
... seriously lovely ... Paul McCartney & Neil Young live on stage with acoustic guitars and in a sing-along duet. Even though I've already seen this live performance before, it was really nice to see it again :) ... Thanks for uploading it
wow! that is awesome! neal young is amazing, as always... and paul does a great job of playing backup.... always the gentlemen and acknowledging other musicians.
I mean really does music get any better than this???? Paul McCartney and Neil Young together!!!!!!! They should make an album together!! just utterly fantastic!!!!!! superb boys!!!!! Two of the greatest musicians of all time-
Only Love Can Break Your Heart! Sure right, but this song brings joy to my heart! Two superb musicians, that can never be replaced. I've seen Paul McCartney in concert, unforgettable! Sorry to say that I've never seen Neil Young in concert,at least not yet. Thanks for posting this video,it made my day!😊
This was about 10 -5 years back. My memories okay now. And no on the itunes. I have a Zune. Ipod wanted me to buy ten songs or something. I just wanted a player. I got 80 gigs on my Zune. Have you noticed someone (or two) has gone through our comments and marked them all thumbs down. Maybe for being a little off subject and not mentioning Neil. Neil rocks you know. (I hate those thumbs downs on my comments.)
Don't you feel such happiness to see these Iconic Musicians still playing in their sixties, and playing with just as much clarity of when they were teenagers, young men, well they have changed obviously, but still so Entertaining , so much an example of love and spirit. It's not that easy to do, but looking at this gives me hope for the future ... don't know whether teenagers today would appreciate as this, music has changed, uhum errrrr... ?
One of Neil Young's best love songs.
me too
Harvest Moon is on another planet....
two founding fathers of rock..... take note young ones, this is music from when giants roamed the earth
Great Comment & oh so very true.

Perfect combination.two genius music industry.
Both have a genius gift for melody. Irreplaceable gentlemen
He was mine - took my birthday $ and went to Paper Back Book smith to get my first album - After the Gold Rush
And George didn't even like his music...
I love it when Paul starts to harmonize a lower part during the chorus. Fits the song perfectly.
the only barrier neil does not want to cross is playing fake music. he's the most genuine musician i have ever known. so raw and real.
Probably two of the worlds greatest songwriters on that stage.
Two truly wonderful people as well as musicians, who have made the world a little better!!
I’d say A LOT better! Saved my sanity thousands of times over.
♥️🧡💙💚💜♥️🧡💙💚💜♥️

Their voices blend beautifully together.
Fantastic. McCartney's harmony is really good - he moves with Young's sometimes out of tune voice. What a great rendition of this song! Absolutely love it and keep replaying it.
Paul sent Neil a Telegram in 1979 that said "Linda and I have been listening to Live Rust over and over, side four kicks ass. Lotta Love, Paul" ❤
In 2020, I'm nearly speechless...That's how great this is!
Paul knows a great song!! I wasn't aware of this. Thank you.
Paul McCartney & Neil Young singing together - good friends...
OMG! Well, glad you asked. WARNING!: If you get hooked on Neil Young, your life will change - or least your view of it.
Robert Johnson Should have said: "Glad you asked, "unfluster" (post from 5 months ago).
+Robert Johnson Yes! My life has changed - I love Neil Young!!
Indeed....
For sure... one of the best songwriters ever to walk the earth, uncut rawness to all his music
Yep I'm 19 and Neil is the reason I'm doing music as my life like no joke during this lockdown whatever he's the reason

+Michael Caufield i didn't know that...it's very touching to know that...that songs of Neil can help you face the suffering
+Michael Caufield I'd never read that before. Nice to know. :)
She always said that she loved Neil Young's work :)

OMG...bawling my eyes out .....i love this song and with McCartney on it too much for me.. Neil Young may you live forever!!
Neil's songs often have that special sorrowful tune...sometimes also when he rocks. His songs are in a special division.
When they both say the word "love", there is something very special in the way the say it...
