I just read two Daily Mail articles that said real schoolchildren had actually also drunk ethanol, thanks to this scene! The children of course fell ill and were rushed to hospital, and the schools and the Daily Mail blamed Waterloo Road and the BBC for these copycat incidents, but the comments on the articles supported WR and the BBC, saying that the episode explicitly warned of the dangers of drinking ethanol (the nurse character who attends to Danielle) AND that it was due to the pupils' own LACK OF COMMON SENSE that they did it in the first place!
I know! The Ethanol, a poisonous substance, was kept in the same unlocked cupboard as retort stands and things like that! That chemistry teacher should've been reprimanded for that!
It’s not the science teachers fault? We were trusted with ethanol in school, and the ethanol in this programme was in a cupboard far away from everything else. How was the teacher supposed to know this could happen.
Paul's biggest mistake that endangered a fellow pupil, Danielle. Bolton had the idea of "hair of the dog" but it was Paul, probably reading about it off the internet, who thought that Ethanol was simply drinking alcohol by a different name and thus gave some to Danielle, unwittingly putting her health at extreme risk, if not her life. Worse still, he seems to be under the impression that he's doing nothing wrong when even Bolton's bailing from selling the stuff to more pupils.
Yes all drinking alcohol is ethanol and if they just diluted it more than that and it was pure ethanol they would have been fine. If it wasn’t pure ethanol (which is wasn’t) then it wasn’t the ethanol itself that could cause actual damage but the additives added to make them not drinkable.
@@Alphoric That's it, the additives, they deliberately make it unpleasant, as shown by Paul's, Bolton's and Rachel's reactions to drinking and smelling it. But Danielle had drunk far too much the night before and she guzzled it down like pop in the school lab, like she didn't care.
This wasnt the kids fault. This was mrs haddock; head of pastoral care. Sees ths girl drunk then drunker leaves her in a closet. These days shed be fired.

Well Rachel would have suspected something anyway because a lot of people from that school would have fell ill from drinking Ethanol . even though one fell ill and Rachel and Max would have known anyway also
Alcohol intoxication, also known in overdose as alcohol poisoning, commonly described as drunkenness or inebriation, is the behavior and physical effects caused by a recent consumption of alcohol.
I seem to recall this got the BBC and Shed Productions in a bit of a pickle with the press and schools. Apparently there were concerns that kids would see this and copy it at their own schools.
One thing I just noticed: Bolton nor Paul have taken off their outside jackets in class! Good for them! I was doing that back in the early 1990s, keeping my coat/jacket on in class and the lecturer kept complaining, but I ignored him!
The School should have to call the police because selling Alcohol Poisoning is a Potential penalty which means It’s A misdemeanor including a fine up to $4,000 and up to a year in jail.
They should not have students to Sale Alcohol poisoning to Minors is a Class A misdemeanor that can result up to one year in jail. Purchase of Alcohol to a Minor; Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor is also a Class A misdemeanor.

Yeah it was definitely not the BBC’s fault they showed the dangers about it and HIGH SCHOOLERS still tried it it’s their fault
can't be their fault as it would happen in many schools for teenagers
This is kind of the science teachers fault. Why was Paul allowed access to a cupboard with ethannol in it anway

The ethanol should have been placed somewhere else.

Supply and demand init? That was a funny comment, it's like he was trying to make Tyler mad.

9:23 When Max called out Grantly, I wonder what he was listening to on his earphone? The horse racing, perhaps...(?) :)
Quite possibly. He would.

Or cricket or football or rugby.
4:40 I like drunk Danielle's little "cat yowl" sound there.
Can't believe they let a student turn up to lesson. Like that.

Why did u do a pause between like that when it doesn’t need to be 2 sentences

And the kids' fault as well, they have no discipline.

Mead most be deaf not hearing them in his class 😂
I wonder how many real schools this happened at!
Closest that happened with mine was a student drinking copper sulphate in a lesson 😬
What happened to them?
People decided to drink sanitizer and spray the cleaning spray in their eyes at my school….

Rachel's face when she smelt the drink 😂
Daniella Harker came into school absolutely drunk and miss Steph. Haydock is not happy with Danielle.

Which schools
At least it wasn't methanol.
The fire alarm terrified me
How did Paul and Bolton not get ill
They didn’t take as much as danielle
