Why don't people understand Nirvana, it's pure emotion in song form, raw and painful, and they're one of the only bands to ever make out of tune-ness work.
I have been a big Nirvana fan since the first time I heard Bleach around 1991. This is one of my all time favorite Nirvana songs, and my favorite to perform. Rough, abrasive and doused in stream-of-consciousness negativity, yet still humorous and almost playful.
One of my favourite Nirvana songs of all-time. It captures the chaos, sonic fury and (as Randy Perot so aptly put) stream of consciousness lyrics that were the embodiment of the band. Love it!
odiumimbues After googling what the hell Lysol is, I concur. Lennon's voice used to be completely gone after singing Twist and Shout. I imagine Kurt's would have been the same after this gem.
check out also: Blandest, If you must, Verse Chorus Verse, Moist Vagina, Token Eastern Song (or Born in a Junkyard), I hate myself and I want to die, Do Re mi etc
This is truly, in my mind, one of Nirvana's strongest tracks. I think this was the one that was paired with (on a split 7 inch) with Jesus Lizards 'Puss', also an insanely strong track.
Anything kurt thinks or says is gold everysong you lean back and listen to is such a bunch of random thoughts put together pure genius considering nowadays singers use 20 song writers to make one simple song
Ahhhh... I love Nirvana--have listened to every out-take and alternate release I can find--and yet, I don't think I ever heard this song before. It ROCKS, and the pics are great, thank you for posting!
I found this CD single at a boardwalk in New Jersey (visiting from California) in 1995(?). Nirvana was my favorite band. This was surely the score of a lifetime.
as I replied in this section a few months ago, the guy at the start is Rob Morrow, who was hosting Saturday Night Live for the first Nirvana appearance on SNL. Rob Morrow was the star of the early 90's tv show "Northern Exposure".
Rob Morrow, the star of the early 90's TV show "Northern Exposure". Rob was hosting Saturday Night Live when Nirvana did their historic first SNL show, which is what that clip was.
@odiumimbues I cant hear any wind, then again I am not on any drugs.Just had a few beers, happy Christmas.Keep rocking to great music. And this is great music.
aahhh... awesome! this song takes me back to a time i thought i was special cause i had Rare nirvana songs!, i spent alot of time tracking those singles..... now u can find'em Online almost everywhere... :(
@WachaDrop most amps have a foot switch connection so you can turn on and off the effects that come built with the amps. the connection is labeled "switch foot" check if you have that, if so go to your local shop and depending on the model of your amp they can get you the right foot switch
not the best times of my life i wasn't alive then i was listening to this in my parents minivan on headphones when i was thirteen wanting to die-- not because of nirvana, but my parents- also that was fifteen years ago.i am much more alive now curmudgeon, endless, nameless and aneurysm still some of my favorites. long live the melvins
@fullclip16117 EXCELLENT post.. you hit the nail on the head.. although to be fair, pearl jam did experiment a little with Vitalogy. but then again most big rock bands back then had at least 1 experimental album or two. (REM - Monster, U2 - Zooropa)
I ordered the Lithium - Single CD about a week ago, can't wait until it comes! It's got a live version of Been a Son, Curmudgeon, and all the official lyrics to Nevermind. CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT!.
I've never seen anyone leap like that, exc maybe b-ball!!! 2:23, absolutely stone f'g amazing. I'm brand new to Nirvanadom, all I could hear before was the screaming and screeching. The videos bring KC's power off the disk beyond what the sound alone provides. The concert footage is of course the most desirable. Amazing KC.
Yeah, I only started really listening to Nirvana just last year. I'd been listening to Nevermind since I was little, though, because my parents used to play the CD fairly often. Now, I just listen to all of Nirvana's stuff all the time.
@QualityOfTheBeard No they performed on the SNL show back in 1992. This was their first live appearance on the show. They went on to play some In Utero songs on SNL in 1993. Comedy Central just re-aired the performance that is all.
Vigilantes Inc is a free movie on Greg Palast site and is a worthwhile watch for any American voter! It's my personal belief that Kurt may have agreed. Great song!
@5585steve Haha, no, I've listened to them since they began, but I've never bought a box set because where I live, they are very rare and hard to get. They're one of my favourite bands.
Recorded by the classic 3-piece (sorry Pat but you're surplus to requirements mate) playing together in a room on the same day as they blasted out Return Of The Rat and Oh, The Guilt .. incredible power and intensity :D
@TheGoldenShamrocks Vitalogy was "off the beaten path" of that which was PJ, but it was in no way experimental. It just sounded like something out of the 60s or 70s only updated a bit.
I can't remember how i heard this, but I've known about it for years, and this was when i was completely unaware of the complete plethora of unreleased Nirvana songs, so I was just convinced that this was a widely known song. Anyways its been my favourite nirvana song for years now.
one of nirvanas greatest strengths was their ability to have so many completely different sounding songs, they were such a cool band! they could play any style and make it great - hard rock, punk, grunge, softer stuff, anything!
@reefergoat Hey, I hear you, and believe me I still listen to PJ occasionally, but I just never thought that they did anything out of their safe zone, Vitalogy included. It just didn't do anything for me. The Target Tangent was referring to their sellout ploy with the Target commercial. As for the beatles, theyre all dead except for McCartney who is like 75 years old and Ringo who doesn't even know what universe he's in half the time lol.
When I was 11 my father let me hear 'smells like teen spirit', I liked it but I wanted to hear more songs, and after 2 good songs, I heard these, and I fought: Damn, this is real music!, Since then I only listened rock, grunge and metal! Awesome! (sorry for my bad english, im dutch)
Why don't people understand Nirvana, it's pure emotion in song form, raw and painful, and they're one of the only bands to ever make out of tune-ness work.
One if the dumbest comments I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading.
I have been a big Nirvana fan since the first time I heard Bleach around 1991. This is one of my all time favorite Nirvana songs, and my favorite to perform. Rough, abrasive and doused in stream-of-consciousness negativity, yet still humorous and almost playful.
perfect description!
For me, listening to Nirvana is like ripping open old wounds, enjoyable, ritualistic and oh so very painful.
The bass is KILLER
"SHEARED AT THE SEAMS"
"CHEAT ON ME"
so fitting
One of my favourite Nirvana songs of all-time. It captures the chaos, sonic fury and (as Randy Perot so aptly put) stream of consciousness lyrics that were the embodiment of the band. Love it!
Second verse is Kurt's best vocal performance imo
yea it is quite pleasingly repelling. in a good way.. like maybe how a bug feels being drenched in lysol...
odiumimbues After googling what the hell Lysol is, I concur.
Lennon's voice used to be completely gone after singing Twist and Shout.
I imagine Kurt's would have been the same after this gem.
Where the HELL did this come from?! Best NIRVANA song I've never heard!
***** Great song; thx for the info!
check out also: Blandest, If you must, Verse Chorus Verse, Moist Vagina, Token Eastern Song (or Born in a Junkyard), I hate myself and I want to die, Do Re mi etc
S.A. Hogan and sappy of course
S.A. Hogan and old age (kurt solo acoustic), even in his youth too
FF FF, you're on a roll! Thx, I will!
One of my favorite songs
The way Kurt screams at 1:03 😍😍😍😍
fuck yeh
This is truly, in my mind, one of Nirvana's strongest tracks. I think this was the one that was paired with (on a split 7 inch) with Jesus Lizards 'Puss', also an insanely strong track.
Oh whoops. that was 'Oh The Guilt', an equally monster song.
It was actually the third track on the Lithium single after a live performance of Been a son (If my memory serves me correctly)
RIP KURT HEAVEN TRUELLY GAINED AN ANGEL WHEN U LEFT US ALL ALONE .........................
Anything kurt thinks or says is gold everysong you lean back and listen to is such a bunch of random thoughts put together pure genius considering nowadays singers use 20 song writers to make one simple song
Nirvana were my teenage years and still have a place as my all time favourite band. "Sheared at the seams!"
I listened to this song BILLION times and still Want more.
Ahhhh... I love Nirvana--have listened to every out-take and alternate release I can find--and yet, I don't think I ever heard this song before. It ROCKS, and the pics are great, thank you for posting!
favorite of nirvana, along with pennyroyal tea and heart shaped box
rip kurt
Nirvana had this "heavy"-grunge period.
Love it.
Then had some "calm"-grunge songs.
Love them.
Then, loved Nirvana.
Part of the brilliance of this song (and Nirvana) was that this was recorded live in the studio in ONE take- no overdubs- no corrections.
1:29 - Holy shit look at his pupils
When you are taken heroin, your pupils must be small or the stuff was fucking bad!!!
space_witch666 EVG
Maybe he was withdrawing at the time or was on uppers.
space_witch666 EVG tu te grattes pas mal aussi
Fabrice de courtenay speak English please
Jason Murphy At the picture 1:29 he is feeling bad or is taken amphetamines or speeds, I guess. You're right.
Som super melancólico, perfeito, só podia ser Nirvana.
This is such an underrated Nirvana song. The bassline is freakin´ awesome!
I found this CD single at a boardwalk in New Jersey (visiting from California) in 1995(?). Nirvana was my favorite band. This was surely the score of a lifetime.
What a neat Christmas song! Makes me so happy!!!
Can't belive that I never heard this Nirvana song b4. Just when I think I've heard every nirvana song another pops up on utube. I love it ha ha.
one of nirvanas finest....love this b-side
One of the best Nirvana songs. Shame it wasn't on an album.
as I replied in this section a few months ago, the guy at the start is Rob Morrow, who was hosting Saturday Night Live for the first Nirvana appearance on SNL. Rob Morrow was the star of the early 90's tv show "Northern Exposure".
gotta love the sound of that guitar!!!

my favorite song by Nirvana; all of them damn it.
I think this would make great background music for when you´re using a flamethrower... Man, I wish I had one!
I want a rocket launcher!
U can on battlefield 1
Nah... You can´t burn down stuff with a rocket launcher or a video game... BTW it seems that i´m the only one who liked my comment... "Thanks guys!"
You can blow a lot of stuff up, though, which results in fire.
Well, I guess... like "in the long run"...
@Macnavor A curmudgeon is a grumpy old man. The song is on With the Lights Out.
I ordered the Lithium - Single CD about a week ago, can't wait until it comes! It's got a live version of Been a Son, Curmudgeon, and all the official lyrics to Nevermind. CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT!.
That last screech of feedbaCK at the end is Kurt's amp saying "ENOUGH! ENOUGH!"
such raw talent that well never see again
N I R V A N A

I'm a huge Nirvana fan but for some reason this song in particular makes me feel very uncomfortable I love it at the same time.
+Damián XxX "makes me feel" that's why it's good
Why uncomfortable?
Its because its dark as fuck. Its great :)
Yeah, I only started really listening to Nirvana just last year. I'd been listening to Nevermind since I was little, though, because my parents used to play the CD fairly often. Now, I just listen to all of Nirvana's stuff all the time.
I think Curmudgeon and Endless Nameless are Kurts best impression of Melvins.
Two of my most fav Nirvana songs.
how perfection looks bud
CHEATONME...CHEATONME...CHEATONME...CHEATONME...ATTHESEAMS!!!!!!!
Love this song
@QualityOfTheBeard No they performed on the SNL show back in 1992. This was their first live appearance on the show. They went on to play some In Utero songs on SNL in 1993. Comedy Central just re-aired the performance that is all.

what a fantastic talent gone too soon. He had so many good years of music ahead of him.
I can't remember how i heard this, but I've known about it for years, and this was when i was completely unaware of the complete plethora of unreleased Nirvana songs, so I was just convinced that this was a widely known song.
Anyways its been my favourite nirvana song for years now.

now I know where the Curmodgeon TH-cam name came from. He has the best Nirvana concerts on here..

my favorite lyrics... " I'm upset, until I'm home"
@TempleOfMonkeys thanks for the info!
damn, there so many Nirvana songs I never heard before.
It's a phaser effect. it also sounds good with flanger
It definitely was‚ I bought the Lithium CD single with this on it in about '92.
@reefergoat Hey, I hear you, and believe me I still listen to PJ occasionally, but I just never thought that they did anything out of their safe zone, Vitalogy included.
