With heavy heart we had to say goobye to a dear friend to many of us in the journal world. We will miss you forever Camille!..you made such a difference to so many of us. You will be sorely missed. All our prayers. Sincerely, Pam
I had between several and many quilts my Mom had pieced and hand quilted. In a house fire most had small to large burns.I did not have the heart to throw them away. She spent so much time making them. I have debated several years on something to use them for. Pillows, baby quilts, doll quilts. Now maybe you have solved my problem! Thank you Pam,I love you.
The way to make sure your fabric scissors are only used for fabric is to get a master combination lock and lock it between the handles. Make the combination something you can't forget like 1, 2, 3, 4. That way you will notice the difference between your fabric scissors and your other scissors. It also keeps someone else in the family from "borrowing" your fabric scissors to cut other things.
Absolutely love these quilt covers. My heart did skip a few beats watching you cut into that glorious embroidered handquilted piece. I’m also a handquilter and know how many hundreds of hours went into the quilting. So so pretty.
I used to have a quilt my granny made back in the 1920's. Sadly, by the time I got it it was already showing age and lack of attention while stored in one of her (never used anymore by this point - late 80's) upstairs rooms. I loved that quilt, and had it for about... 15-20 years after that. By that point, it was in tatters - the fabric had worn right through in the majority. At the time I got it, however... there were still some "viable" areas. Sadly, even my mother (seamstress, crafter, etc) didn't think to upcycle it! So, maybe creating a journal wasn't in my knowledge base yet, but... my mother loved QUILTING bible covers! That makes me chuckle, cus its like one tiny thought away from the conclusion of: use granny's quilt, make a book cover in a fairly standard size & have a piece of history & granny for longer. The pattern on this quilt is GORGEOUSNESS AMPLIFIED. Seriously, adores. Instead of gasping at cutting it up, though... I imagine it had some pretty rough areas, too... like my granny's quilt. Areas of wear & tear, areas of stains, areas of fabric dry rot... areas that make the quilt not usable as is anymore, and not exactly easy to display due to locations of issues. At this point, most folks give up & toss(or donate/whatever) it. This is such a lovely way to honor these older quilts that may not otherwise HAVE a use (other than a rag company).
I too hand quilt it gives one shudders but if nobody uses the quilt what is it good for. I gift mine instead of keeping them until i die. 🤣 the big cunundrum.
@@nelsonshakespeare2881 so true, and I totally agree. A beauty like Pam has will make the most glorious covers that will be enjoyed for many more years.
@@abigailphoenixthepaperaddi2501 you are so very lucky to have these memories. Our family quilt history started with me, so any tatty ones out there in the family are still being used.

Is there a way to do a binding where the excess ends up at the top so the excess could be used as a tassel?
Do you write directly on those pages? What do you do with those I saw you pasting old pages on card stock?

White Clay Creek, perhaps?
