Ever since 1970 i have tried to learn as much as i could about Vietnam Vets. God bless them all. Ive been lucky to meet a helicopter pilot...who said little about his experiences...Andy Weiss. I met Bob who was grad of West Point who relieved Lt at Mi Lai. He never talked to me about any of that. My husband and these two men were stockbroker trainees at Merrill Lynch in Denver CO. My husband Jim Allen was in Navy on destroyer out of First Fleet in Newport RI. He loved his time in Reserves and active duty as volunteer. There was also a bomber pilot named Braden. These men and all who served are my heroes now and forever. I was in support of our boys but now that the truth is out im against future wars and have been since Iraq. Too many of our boys were lost and gave all and that will always bother me. Peace!

I served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era but not sent to that conflict. My Senior Drill Instructor, Sgt Edward Hart from the New York City area was there. I lost a High School friend: L/Cpl William Franklin who succumbed to his wounds on 9-16-1970. Even though I did not go to Vietnam I was tormented by the civilian population for even servicing. Those men and women who went there deserve this nations hightest honors and respect for going into that conflict that was already lost by our politicians and war mongers. They are a generation we have lost. For those who made it home, they went through decades of pain, torment and anquish at the hands of their own nation. I visit many cemeteries paying my respects to the fallen and veterans. It is our duty as a free nation to support those who so bravely took the responsibility to walk into a conflict that they neither started. That is my opinion!! Thank you to all who served! Semper Fi!

Thank you Mr. Anderson for your service to this country, and to the world at large. Please know that not everyone disapproved of your service during Vietnam. As a teenager I prayed for your wellbeing, as I continue to do for all those that serve.
All these many years later, I still pray for the men and women who wear, or jave worn the uniform. For those that shouted and carried signs, they have shrank back into the darkness where all cowards go.

When I was just 8 years old, it was a blazing hot day here in Australia, and my family were out with a kids moto X club, and the kids were having a water war eg. just throwing water at each other. And I was dared by older kids to go throw water over my mates father.. so I did. And that's all I remember! Now what i didn't know was that my best friend's father was a Vietnam veteran (I was only 8 years old and was too young to understand) and from what I was told later, I ran up to Bob while he was inside of a tent and when I was really close Bob looked like a cornered animal and then he threw a punch and knocked me out cold! And since then I found out about the war and have always paid my utmost respect to the veterans of this war.. I want to say well done and great to meet you, because as soldiers you did your work and you did it to the best of your ability, and you have to be proud of that!! You have my honour and respect!!!

He was working with therapy tho and had done a survivor letter to a buddy. Warren had ranked up like 4 or 5 ranks because of battlefield deaths. He said guys were pissed. Operated in the infantry for the army, he helped save the overrun special forces once and theres a triangle deal. He's in his early 70's now. Please help me find him and get his story, it would be good for him and he will appreciate the efforts. A good guy- deserving.

Whenever you study or think of this war stop and get your mind to the bigger picture beyond 1 area, Vietnam. Go more like to ww2, Korea etc. because when you look at the neighboring countries like laos and cambodia what do you see there then as well? War. This could be called not the Vietnam War, but the Cambodian War. Mr. Kennedy and Bobby as well, the Kennedys would have likely seen us in a broader context taking more from previous exp. The creation of the Kennedy special forces shows us the kind of thinking that we would have more than likely seen things play out from. The failure at the Bay of Pigs= Everything here. What does that mean? More than likely french and Nato, UN, more of a major role. Negotiations with a great Vietnam leader meaning everything, that South government debacle likely avoided. A bigger asian continent picture, The Killing Fields, The Bay of Pigs, No. It sucks for us, two Kennedys that would have seen us through sixteen years of presidential service, wow.

What we have here is a failure to Communicate",,,famous line from the classic film HUD with Paul Newman. The Vietnam conflict was never classified by DOD as a legitimate war. A classic Cluster **** from get go fought WW2 style against Gurilla tactics. The brush fire wars and conflicts are being phased out hopefully. Lessons never learned from Korea, dominican republic, panama, grenada, bosnia, mogodisu cluster****,iraq, afganistan, all clusters. Current cluster * conflict is now ukraine which will join the long list of loser U.S. involvements of suffering, blood, lives lost in vain, due to corruption, money profits, political lies and intrigue. I wish to return to vietnam, it's a beautiful country without war,the people are doing better now than when we were there, yeah it's still commy but we didn't stop a thing.was it worth it?

Im glad people like you are doing this work preserving these men's stories. We lost too many ww2 vets before they had a chance to tell their stories, so I'm glad the work is starting earlier to get a lot of these Vietnam stories told. Unfortunately, I'm sure a lot of Vietnam vets aren't willing to tell their story. Hopefully they open up and tell their experiences to us all. Thank you
