    I would like to know what method they are using to determine if the base stock is brass or bronze. If you look at 3:55, the base stock materials in that bowl are brass, bronze, and copper. That stranded wire in the lower right hand side might even be copper clad aluminium. When you mix all of that together they become a new alloy normally called unidentifiablenium (an alloy that cannot be identified) that has no known characteristics. It might be soft, it might be hard. It might be machinable, it might not. It might be corrosion resistant or it might start to corrode away within as little as a couple of days. My point is you don't know what you have or if it's even fit for the service intended. The only true use for this stuff is to make cheap ornaments to put on a table or hang on a wall. In short, it's crap and should be avoided.

    Brass bushings are a terrible idea; the static and dynamic friction coefficients of brass against steel are exceptionally high. For bushings for a steel shaft, you want sintered bronze bushingsm which can accept oil.
