    Im born & raised in NYC but I've been in love with Chicago ever since i was a kid. I wanna move my family out there but none of them wants to leave NYC but im sick of it!!! Im a Bear's, Cub's, Blackhawk's, White Sox fan & Chicago just has a certain essence to it from the architecture to the neighborhoods. I can't wait to take my family on a vacation there so they can fall in love with it like I did...

      @@hbc586I love NYC but to visit only I couldn't live there and so if you really want to live in Chicago just try it. I still love Chicago living here. I know it's a scary thing to move but you only live once besides you can always move back

      Id recommend against moving to Chicago. Unless its to the suburbs. But even then, the weather in Illinois is very bleak and dreary for most of the year. I'm also from New York, currently in the Chicagoland area for school. The weather in NYC is far better. Winters in NYC are actually beautiful with a lot of sunlight. Chicago is gray for half the year.

      Chicago is cool and all, but man this city has really turned to shit lately. Crime is out of control, there are a million robberies, carjackings and other violent crimes daily. The homeless population is skyrocketing, they are bussing illegal immigrants in etc. There are groups of black kids causing problems downtown, stores are getting looted downtown on Michigan Ave. I'd say spend your money elsewhere. I lived Lakeview, Bucktown, Lincoln park for 16 years but glad i left. It's out of control.

    Thanks for focusing on the grandeur of the neighborhoods, not just downtown. There are so many other neighborhoods in the city that should be given this chance to shine. 🙏

      @@GSM92 I never been to Houston. I'm sure Houston is a beautiful city. I've been to
      to LA though when I was a little kid back in the late early 80's. I always watched the CHIPS show and when I visited LA I was excited and thought every time I seen a CHP(California Highway Patrol) on a motorbike it would be JON or PONCH. Thought it was pretty cool!

      I'm glad Wicker Park was revitalized while at the same time, dismayed that the gentrification has excluded many of the Hispanic families that lived there. I'm sure they see it as exclusivity for "whites only" which is still indicative Chicago's segregated history. It goes to show you that when a solution is needed, one can be found immediately for one privileged group of people. It actually a form of discrimination repackaged under the guise of 'urban renewal'. The more thing change; the more they stay the same.

    • @fbj59
      @fbj59 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phillipgrey I totally agree with you, gentrification has been going on all over the country taxing people out of their properties. It would be nice if the government would remove all of the redlining laws. I feel that alone would do great improvements to many areas in this country.

    Amazing video once again. Milwaukee Ave's infill has been hugely transformational from the perspective of building a cohesive streetwall and erasing many urban renewal scars. I wish that we would erase our restrictive zoning and allow for mid and high-rise density to reshape our built environment. Wicker Park should have well over 100,000 residents but the stagnation is representative of our single-family zoning and practice of deconversions. These remaining underutilized and suburban lots need tall/dense development to increase the scale of our built environment which would add population, increase vibrancy and allow for more inclusion. Nimby's successfully killed two separate high-rise proposals last development cycle at Polish Triangle and have kept the scale of development along the 606 in check. Complaining aside, you captured the neighborhood brilliantly and provided stunning visuals.

    • @ArtistsCry13
      @ArtistsCry13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t you mean West Town? Wicker Park is tiny. It’s only a small part of the West Town Community Area. West Town as a whole could definitely be more vibrant, I agree. It’s still super fun though!

    • @stitch6157
      @stitch6157 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArtistsCry13 Well I'm sort of combining Bucktown and Wicker Park together for the area I'm describing that should have 100,000 people or more. If we had NY population densities that number isn't astronomical. I would say Lincoln Park as well should have atleast double its population. We discourage that type of density though and keep our neighborhoods stagnant. We shouldn't even have single family housing within a certain radius of the core in my opinion.
