    Fir a planned call. Rather disorganized.
    “Hi are is this business? You are main driver? On date, location you had a red ex cab Ford on front of empty wedge. That is very unsafe, as weight is high without lower weight to offset….” He was trying to understand what you were saying. So you want more government interference? Did you look for info?

    • @hotshotnewengland

      It wasn't a planned call. I didn't write a spill or stand in front of a mirror practicing. I just called him and that's it. I'm doing more than 99% of people do 🤷‍♂️

    I use to be a yard jockey with a spotting tractor ,dummy's would load trailers with full drums of chemicals 4drums on back than when they got to front they would double stack them I would refuse to pull them until they reloaded, the right way ,we had one of our guys pull one that flipped when he turned the corner almost lost his Job over that mistake

  • @2020HotShotTruckingLLC
    @2020HotShotTruckingLLC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Everything you load needs to have the weight properly distributed. Whether it's a wheel barrow, a boat even a grocery cart doesn't work well if you put all the weight in the front. When it comes to trailers, the rule of thumb is 15-25% tongue weight for a gooseneck, 10-15% for a bumper pull. My 30' Big Tex is 15-17% if you spread the weight equally...that's by design. Someone loading a vehicle up over the tongue is straight up stupid! They think they have a "big" truck that can handle it...it's unsafe and the fuel mileage will be worse also.

    It's more like sitting on the edge of a three legged stool. It's safer to keep the load over at least two legs (the tires) and not one leg (the ball coupling).

I understand people are just trying to make a living but like you said maybe there should be more training, to really lessen the risk of accidents happening. You wonder why DOT messes with hotshots??? THERE YA GO! I saw a hotshot, CDL load, with one strap on each 10 foot section. Not a continuous load..single, 10 foot pallets, I was blown away! Running 75-80 MPH....10 ply tires....SCARY!

    • @hotshotnewengland

      There are idiots on hotshots and semi setups but semi flatbed or semi car hauling drivers get at least some minor training by their boss or by a colleague. Hotshot owner operators just get behind the wheel of a Dodge 3500 and hit the road for the 1st time with zero experience.

      Quick Google search. "On flatbed trailers with no header board carrying lighter cargo, like fiberboard and drywall or general freight on pallets, two straps must be placed in the first 10 feet (about 3 meters in Canada), and one for every 10 feet after that, she says". If green (new) to industry just look it up not hard to do.
