My hometown! I lived in the projects with Willie (Will-i-am) when he was just a little boy. Haven't seen him in years but I'm very proud of the great artist and wonderful human he grew up to be. He does great things for the neighborhood and community. This past October our local high school rivals had their game at The Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles and Willie used his own money to pay for The Black Eyed Peas to perform at half time. It was an amazing 40 minute performance. Tickets were only $15.

I remember this being a catchy song when it came out and it randomly popped into my head today and it made me so emotional….. This hits harder than ever now, this is a cold world and it’s nice to see people who were fighting for the people and trying to open our eyes before we truly understood it. I love this song! Very little has changed for regular working class people in the last 30 years at least. The pot of hate, blame, and vilifying keeps being stirred up to keep us all fighting each other while they rob us blind. One thing that has changed - the rich have become even richer! You should check out their crazy underrated album, Masters of the Sun. Before they went main stream, they really came from a hip hop background. Masters of the Sun is a hip hop album they put out just a few years ago. Unfortunately, just like everything else people only want to hear the party hype ish, so it flew under the radar.
My only issue with this song is how they seem to be longing for a time before present when things were better. But I want to know when and where exactly they are talking about. The world isn't perfect, the US isn't perfect. But the world is more accepting than it has literally ever been. And it keeps becoming more accepting. Otherwise it's a great and powerful song
