All aboard! Visit the Galveston Railroad Museum to see a 1932 art deco depot located on five acres featuring more than forty different vintage railcars and locomotives. Here, visitors can discover what it’s like to be aboard a rail postal car, a mid-century sleeper car, or a Pullman sleeper car. Climb aboard one of the two steam locomotives and experience the size and power of these giant iron horses. The museum’s depot has been restored to its glory days of rail travel and looks as it did when it served as the hub for Galveston’s passenger rail service.

YESSS!!! They still have the creepy mannequins!! I love them. I grew up in Galveston in the 1990’s and remember visiting this museum as well as attending some kind of after-hours party there with my family. I knew they weren’t real, but I remember feeling kinda bad that the mannequin “people” had to hold their positions late into the night for our benefit when they probably wanted put their arms down 😜

I went exploring to the nearby abandoned trains by harborside with a friend. We found this small homeless camps in one of the cabs and knew the someone was still here. We went down the aisle of diesels and eventually heard a yell. I immediately jumped down running, feeling like I was in subway surfers. Me and my friend eventually crawled through some couplings, and i remember my shades falling of then seeing that we were being held at gunpoint by the police. That was a relief because we both thought it was a crazy junkie chasing us. We talked to them, and I managed to get out just fine, but my friend had a warrant from an older charge and was taken in and i had to call and wait for my mom to pick me up as i watched my friends bike get towed.
