no you don't go to a specific person to sing for them, this is different from serenade. Christmas caroling is when you visit multiple houses and sing in exchange for money. This is supposed to be a cute tradition, kids often do this and they get money in return. kinda like how you do trick or treat in halloween but you'll sing christmas songs and since Filipinos are so extra, they make it like tawag ng tanghalan grand finals lol.
Iba po kasi ang caroling sa western its more on chorale with instruments parang marching bands ganern. Di po nila yan matatawag na caroling kahit xmas song kinakanta nya. Since karaoke yang dala dala nya. Its more on a serenade side
True. It is so cute when kids, especially, the small ones, singing Christmas songs. You're right it like trick or treat for kids- instead of wearing costumes, they will sing and adults will give them "aguinaldo" (coins or bills) after a few songs. Teenagers and adults get higher aguinaldo because they can sing really, really well. Sometimes, one of them play the guitar. Filipinos are so extra, so true. Kids used to have improvised tambourine and improvised drums.
While a lot of people love the high notes, I like those simple and solemn way singing but so heartfelt that the Christmas songs will really touch your heart. Hehehe! That's my preference. I admire and applaud their vocal prowess though...it's good for concerts.
Yes. In the Philippines, most people think hitting high notes is a criteria for being a good singer. Regardless of how it sounds. It just has to be high. Even the caterwauling kind is praised. Tsk tsk tsk.
😊At the beginning of Simbang Gabi / Misa de Gallo is when Filipinos form groups and go from house to house singing Christmas carols for the residents. This is known as "caroling".
Harana is serenade. You can sing any song or olay any music you like in a serenade. Of course you should select the appropriate one to the purpose but the point is you are not restricted to a type of music. Kundiman is a type of music that are traditionally written for the purpose of showing your love. You can say it's genre. It has certain rules like tempo, how the song is contructed, and the language used. In that sense, someone can choose to sing kundiman in a harana if they want. Traditionally, that was what was sang iby older generations.
Christmas caroling is like a halloween trick or treat,We go to a random houses to sing christmas songs and in exchange they give as some money or anything that comes from their genuine heart
That is called caroling, we do that before Christmas. We go from house to house singing Christmas songs then they’ll give money or it’s the other way.😮😜😍 it’s more fun in the Philippines when it’s Christmas time!👏👏👏
Every Christmas season, there's we called Carolling, it's singing Christmas song in front of any house you want to randomly, even without noticing the owner, and after singing, they will give you cash of any amount, some gives goods or any gift. The most enjoyable activity during Christmas season aside from Christmas parties everywhere. Thanks and God bless
Caroling is a Filipino Christmas tradition.. People or persons, individual or group, just go to random houses to sing Christmas songs and the house owner or people inside the house give some money or gift.. but usually it is cash money.. 🤗🤗🤗
i dunno if this tradition in other countries but here in philippines carolling is when you or a group go house to house to sing christmas songs for money or any kind in return. yeah if this person come in our house may get more than usual. some kids are now even creativeincorporating choreography in their singing
That specific version of "Silent Night" came from Mariah Carey. Its the most popular version of Oh Silent Night here in the Philippines.... Now you know.
They go from house to house, i would agree it's mental because they come in different forms. Sometimes duet, sometime in large groups, most of the time crazy kids....
It is caroling. One of filipinos christmas culture. Starting dec 16 until christmas, children to old people do house to house singing christmas songs in exchange of gift or money. They bring whatever instrument they want.
you sing for the whole neighborhood house to house collecting change 🤣 it's called caroling during the near weeks of Christmas day. and usually we don't bring speakers, traditionally we make bottle caps and DIY it to be rattlers a can of milk can make it to a DIY somewhat like drums, and if they don't give us change 🤣 because the new year is near we always have piccolo or a small fire cracker and throw it at the house and rus fast as fck and laugh. I miss my childhood. 🤣
CHRISTMAS CAROLING IN PHILLIPINES IS THE HAPPIEST TIME …. You can sing at any random house you choose and the house owner will come out to give money … not throw money …. it’s part of sharing during christmas season ..: for some organisations that want funding and on their projects the need to secure license from police or government agency .. that is for staying out late at night and a formal letter is sent to the house address you intend on to do sing Christmas carols and the house owner can get ready of the amount to share to them and sometimes get ready and of light snacks to the group after singing Christmas carols
Oh you have to wait for Lea's version of Oh holy night, She was the featured artist of the Tabernacle choir and they'll air the whole show on December 12, I think.
harana in the old days men went the girl's house of whom he courted and sing harana... carolings are performed by group of kids and group of adult or even church choir with any instrument to accompany during christmas season. they went to houses to sing christmas songs inreturn we the house owners will give coins to kids or even bigger for adults. christmas is really a big thing here in the philippines its for family reuníons.
It's been 5 years since i started working on a Muslim Country, sadly they don't have Christmas here , i miss Pinoy Christmas 😢 how Families are reunited in Noche Buena ❤
It's caroling which people in the West are familiar with. As a kid, we used to make our own instruments, an empty can covered with plastic (drum), flattened coke caps string together on a piece of wire then we'd go from house to house to sing (or now that I'm older 'irritate' might be the correct word) and hope that people will give us coins. Choirs do this, too and you're duty bound to give them paper bills. Or the single guy with his own amplifier (a newer concept). It's tradition. Hotels hire choirs to sing carols, too.
Caroling❤️ Speaking of Christmas, Felip/Ken covered 'Under the Mistletoe/Mistletoe' by Justin at last night's glorietta event, and also released a version of 'Moving Closer' by Never the stranger's
we do that in different ways. even employees do that if we need some funds or for fund we go to offices or even set up groups for caroling. it is actually fun!
Serenade = harana But this thing is called caroling, which is self explanatory. Caroling season starts around first or second week of december, when kids go up to houses in the neighborhood and sing Christmas carols. In exchange, people give them money. So the guy in the first video took caroling to the next level. Haha😂
The first part in the video is called Christmas carolling & they go house to house (like trick or treat) to earn some coins/bills after singing. Harana (Serenade) is different, you can do that any day you want to the one you love.
That version was made by Morissette she's wearing blue dress in a mall tour but there ofcourse she did the whistle while this Lyka did it all in full voice. 🤗 You're welcome
Its just Karoling(caroling) Philippine version.... Kids in our neighborhood has been doing this since I was in 3rd grade I think? Its just like a live performance Giving change or money is just an option. No one is pressured to give money Its all just for fun 😉
Hahaha.... no Efra. We called it Caroling it happens as early as the BER Months comes this days. But during my time it a week b4 Christmas. We usually use tanzan ( Coca Cola lids ), a piece of wood and nails to make like tambourine, but straight instead of round
It's the mariah carey version. But she did her own twist with it. You need to see the mariah version so you know why Filipinos love that version so much. Btw even the first guy's minus1 is the same version.
The first video we call it caroling during christmas . and the family give money to carolers.. Fun bcoz even kids as young as toddlers do caroling as group of toddlers hahaha.. Just buy neighborhood
Serenade is different to caroling in christmas in the philippines serenade is when you go to serenade a lady that you are courting ti be a girlfriend or attracted to a lady thats where you go to a specific house which is the girls house while caroling is a tradition at christmas time where you go house to house and sing christmas songs and the owner or the people who lives in the house gives you money or a gift and then divide into yourself all the money you collect

We call it carolling.in my province we do Christmas carolling and the proceeds go to church. Some home owners will treat us to coffee and cakes in their house or even lunch. Boodle fight style.
it's christmas caroling, in the philippines we do a kind of house to house busking singing christmas songs hoping the house would give them money as aguinaldo..its usually a group of carolers tho 😅
I think they might relate it to "Aguinaldo" which we might have called it that too if we take "ang sanhi po ng pagparito hihingi po ng aginaldo" as a clue.
Philippines has a lot of gimmick in our caroling... Some people start caroling from September, day and night... Others even have dancers, bands, complete instruments...too funny most of the times too...
The best part of people caroling here in PH is you get to hear different lyrics for the same song🤣🤣🤣 Lyrics of Christmas songs are not googled/searched prior, they are learned by ear. So if you heard the lyrics wrong, you'll sing the lyrics wrong but still with good or almost perfect melody. Hahahahahaha!
When christmas is coming more activities in shool so we do like this but we sing like a choir yes it's true and i am a tenor while my teachers are soprano we have also bass alto we're complete when we do caroling so they gave us more money we earn lot of money less expenses for our parent's for party that's the way we do to earn money😂 only phillippines can do that❤

Harana means serenade 😊 but this one we call caroling …it’s when you go to different houses and sing Christmas carols

Best explanation!
Sing the Christmas carols and they will get money in exhange. It’s a fun experience and core memories for kids

You are getting better at Filipino terms.. Way to go! Love you both ♥♥♥
Christmas caroling is like a halloween trick or treat,We go to a random houses to sing christmas songs and in exchange they give as some money or anything that comes from their genuine heart

Caroling is a Filipino Christmas tradition.. People or persons, individual or group, just go to random houses to sing Christmas songs and the house owner or people inside the house give some money or gift.. but usually it is cash money.. 🤗🤗🤗
That was Mariah Carey’s version that she sang, Morisette Amon also sang this live with whistle and I think it’s “cleaner” than Lika’s rendition 3:47
i dunno if this tradition in other countries but here in philippines carolling is when you or a group go house to house to sing christmas songs for money or any kind in return. yeah if this person come in our house may get more than usual. some kids are now even creativeincorporating choreography in their singing

So funny 🤣 i like watching both of you guys ❤❤❤
I think this do this in Latin America. It’s basically Christmas Carolling. They go to different houses to sing in exchange for money.
I think they might relate it to "Aguinaldo" which we might have called it that too if we take "ang sanhi po ng pagparito hihingi po ng aginaldo" as a clue.
trick or treat, christmass version. hehe
the most popular version of "HOLY NIGHT" here in PH is the mariah carey version

Philippines has a lot of gimmick in our caroling...
Some people start caroling from September, day and night...
Others even have dancers, bands, complete instruments...too funny most of the times too...
In the Philippines just sing in front of any house and it’s normal during Ber Months.
Haha l am so happy your comment I think its caroling

The best part of people caroling here in PH is you get to hear different lyrics for the same song🤣🤣🤣
Lyrics of Christmas songs are not googled/searched prior, they are learned by ear. So if you heard the lyrics wrong, you'll sing the lyrics wrong but still with good or almost perfect melody. Hahahahahaha!
Mariah Carey’s O Holy Night is mostly the inspiration of these covers

They do Christmas carolling, for money. There is part of manila that their carolling style is dancing. Other people they are group
You have to listen to Jed Madela’s version. It’s on his channel.
it is Christmas caroling, and if they can't appreciate the tone of your voice, they will set free their dogs to go after you. just kidding.🤣
LOL or they throw money at you right away so you leave already 🤣🤣
