edge is such a lovely humble man, u2 and nyc, its a match made in heaven, the worlds greatest band and the worlds greatest city, this was filmed in june 2001, i remember seeing it on irish tv then, little did we know what fate awaited nyc 3 months later, 911, god bless nyc and its people, the greatest on the planet
what a lovely humble man edge is, a true gent, nyc looked magical, sad to think what was coming 3 months later, greatest band and greatest city, what a combination!
(cont'd from below) Theater orchestras needed service and retail shops as well. During the jazz age in the twenties, the trumpet was the coolest instrument to play. So naturally the shops would cater to the tastes of the public. All those shops were originally brass and woodwind shops. When rock and roll hit, everything changed. Guitars became the big sellers. If you're ever on the corner, just think that those stores witnessed the entire evolution of twentieth century American music.
those chords looks so simple, but when The Edge plays it... well... only he can do that special sound. I know 'cause all of U2 covers bands I've seen and heard
I hang out at these shops all the time. Over the years I met Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews and Rick Nielson from Cheap Trick. The reason why those instrument shops are clustered together on that little part of 48th street is because they serviced the entire music business for almost a century. Radio and T.V literally began right down the block at Rockefeller Center. Those orchestra musicians needed repair and retail shops in the neighborhood. You are also in the theater district. I remember when they were in NY. They each had their own tour bus and it was parked around the perimeter of MSG. They also had like 3 or 4 tractor trailers with all their equipment. It was quite an army of vehicles !
no problem dude, because u2 is the best band in out life times, and we as fans are all lucky to see and even better to see in a live concert =) i just gave a another green thumb hehehe peace
The Edge is a creative genius..........Guitar playing is not an Olympic Sport. The Edge an essential part of the creation of U2.If you don't like U2........then you have a problem......you should maybe try........ snooker?
The first guitar was actually quite nice. 1964/65 sunburst Fender Jazzmaster. However, the second guitar was much nicer. 1960's Metallic blue Fender Jaguar. Glad he chose the Jaguar.
My first thought was that is sounded like an adaptation of sunday bloody because of how he was singing the melody and he just changed the rhythm of the chords, but the more I listen the more I know that's not it... puzzling
@xmacvicar The dude has his own style and I like that. Sometimes I wish there was no ego driven gun slinger mentality among many guitarists...but then again it can distinguish where someone is at in their musical tastes/(spiritual journey?). But I 'spose if he played keyboard no gun slinger would give a shit.
I love early U2, they were brilliant back then. Anything after the Joshua Tree era left me stone cold. In my opinion that was when U2 went corporate and into making as much money as they could. Greedy is the word. I know its a double edged sword, but U2 have just churned out shit to make as much money as possible since that time.
coltsuperocean10 i pretty much agree but even so they still come up with something cool every now and then. i really liked that tune 'magnificent'. reminded me of some of the earlier stuff but with a contemporary sound.
Maybe you still have to listen to their last album... If you stop creating, if you stop innovating, your band will start copyin' itself as Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovy...etc.etc.etc. U2 are the only one example of innovation today.Without them, you wouldn't know killers, coldplay,FFerdinand and so on...
he must be embarassed being a big rock star going into a guitar shop and then just playing a chord. Never mind, I'm sure his wealth, status and public adoration will soothe his bruised ego. But still...I know I would have had to leave because I would have cracked up.

He has every guitar, every effect unit & every amp in the world, the best of everything, then you realise the sound all comes from his hands.
This man is my favorite guitar player, love his sound very much from 80s til now, every song! thanks for the video
Bono and the Edge walk into there local bar and the bar tender says ' oh no not u2 again ' !
smooth, take my like
Bono and The Edge walk into a bar, You'd think at least one of them would have seen it :)
that man is a genius just love the sound he makes when he takes a gutiar in his hands
what a lovely humble man edge is, a true gent, nyc looked magical, sad to think what was coming 3 months later, greatest band and greatest city, what a combination!
He has got such a beautiful voice love you "Edge"
this guy is my IDOL
It was awesome.
Hearing Edge play "Streets" on a Jazzmaster was a little jaw-dropping.
6:39 is great! His smile tells it all.
How great to hear "Pride" on a Fender Jaguar.
Glenn Jimenez was streets 😂
That "Pride" riff sounded like being played on a ukelele. The Jaguar has such a distinctive and unique tone.
u2santos that was streets have no name 😂
Daniel Pritchard, he played a Streets on a Jazzmaster, and he played Pride on a Jaguar at the end. Similar looking guitars, different sounds
i wanna say that song you questioned is Dirty Day. Just sounds different without the effects/rest of the band
The Genius himself.👏🇦🇺
i was at that strip of guitar shops and it took me ages to find lol , theres also shops that sell great brass instruments there
6:39 goosebumps. . .

I am almost certain that the song Edge is playing in the background from 2:12 - 3:21 is "Stuck in a Moment."
Nice guitar he looks at here! A true legend!
very very nice!!ILOVE THE EDGE I LOVE U2!
those chords looks so simple, but when The Edge plays it... well... only he can do that special sound.

I could be wrong but judging from the couple of notes he hums. I think the song in question is Crimson and Clover by Tommy James the Shondells
If they're not the best band ever, they will sure as hell do until the best band gets here.
@Brianf2148: I believe it is also a Fender Jazzmaster and not a Jaguar.
the three T's touch tone and texture the edge has them all in abundance, legend!!!
I remember when they were in NY. They each had their own tour bus and it was parked around the perimeter of MSG. They also had like 3 or 4 tractor trailers with all their equipment. It was quite an army of vehicles !
It is where the streets have no name. Play it myself
Edge plays guitar way better than I do and he's written dozens of epic songs. I don't care that he's not Steve Vai.
Did you just compare The Edge to yourself, and then Steve Vai? lol
Yeah, it is Dirty Day you're looking for.
Lol at how Dallas listens to a few seconds of the delay settings and goes, "Sounds familiar."
Can you imagine Bono and Edge in the snooker championships
How interesting that this was filmed in June 2001 , U2 + NEW YORK CITY = 9/11 , the timing of it all is strange and interesting.
no problem dude, because u2 is the best band in out life times, and we as fans are all lucky to see and even better to see in a live concert =) i just gave a another green thumb hehehe peace
Take a look at the description
@margau25 Well he plays them both on this video. the Jazzmaster which he plays streets on and the Jaguar for Pride!
The Edge is a creative genius..........Guitar playing is not an Olympic Sport. The Edge an essential part of the creation of U2.If you don't like U2........then you have a problem......you should maybe try........ snooker?
I know how to play snooker and love u2
i think they are in 46st...if you live in new york city ask the guards who work there i went to this store 1 ear ago and is pretty small
@bolofofis Sorry my bad i thought you meant what he used in the Pride offical video! In this one his using a Fender Jaguar!!
The first guitar was actually quite nice.
1964/65 sunburst Fender Jazzmaster.
However, the second guitar was much nicer. 1960's Metallic blue Fender Jaguar.
Glad he chose the Jaguar.
manny's, but it closed down last year, and was replaced with a sam ash.
ha bono would never get away with strolling around new york like that
its the chords to Electrical Storm
It's "Beautiful Day", without the echo.
@Brianf2148
No it's not a Gretsch.
See it in 6:45
Which guitar is that ? Anybody knows ?
Could have sworn I heard Adam and Larry come in at 5:28!
Where The Streets Have No Name
My first thought was that is sounded like an adaptation of sunday bloody because of how he was singing the melody and he just changed the rhythm of the chords, but the more I listen the more I know that's not it... puzzling
I'd like to know what it is too.
Edge hasnt been setting up his equip for so long that he forgot the time setting for "streets" ha ha
does anybody now where is this video extracted from¿?
you can use any pedal, he uses racks.
oh wow didnt know that. PETER!
What street is it then? haha
@xmacvicar The dude has his own style and I like that. Sometimes I wish there was no ego driven gun slinger mentality among many guitarists...but then again it can distinguish where someone is at in their musical tastes/(spiritual journey?). But I 'spose if he played keyboard no gun slinger would give a shit.
does The Edge have built-in delay or does he carry a bag of it around with him wherever he goes?
You're welcome :)
what's the name of the second guitar shop they just looked into the window?
And thats why Fender Jaguars rock. :D
Which is the guitar he is using while playing Pride in this video ?
whats the seocnd store he is in?
is the second shop 30th street guitars?
3:17 those people push infront of a rock legend and dont let him into the shop first....WANKERS!!!
when was filmed?
Actually, I don't think anyone knows :) No one seems to be able to figure it out
Edge looks very different with a baseball cap instead of a beanie lol
@evh5150316 Just looked it up. It's kind of the same rhythm. But not the same if you know what I mean. :-D
nothin like Rudys :)
3:36 aguante argentina!!!

***** Exactly, thats just what I said.
coltsuperocean10 i pretty much agree but even so they still come up with something cool every now and then. i really liked that tune 'magnificent'. reminded me of some of the earlier stuff but with a contemporary sound.
Bullshit ,their music has them at the top not the money , 40 years into it and they never dropped standard live or studio
Maybe you still have to listen to their last album... If you stop creating, if you stop innovating, your band will start copyin' itself as Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovy...etc.etc.etc.

jazz master not jaguar... ;D
what? um....
he must be embarassed being a big rock star going into a guitar shop and then just playing a chord. Never mind, I'm sure his wealth, status and public adoration will soothe his bruised ego. But still...I know I would have had to leave because I would have cracked up.
Its out of tune so its 50 dollars off...I'm so gonna tell that when i try a guitar and say Edge said it. hahaha
too bad he couldn't remember the delay time
lol, all these comments are funny, I bet the edge can't even tune a guitar
U2 IS THE GREATEST BAND OF THE PLANET!
