I don't chase latest trends, I just deepen my knowledge around the tech which I need for my work. I learn 30 minutes a day focusing on what I do not understand during my work. I mean there is a lot I just use and do not understand why... 😀
My tech stack is Java Spring, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Cloud computing, Hexagonal architecture... there is a lot to learn even for a senior developer. I have a great project for next 2-3 years, so I am good right now. After this project I will continue with Java and Cloud no matter what the latest trends will be...
I have no idea about blockchains and I don't need to know, I have some idea about AI and Big Data but that's it.

The problem is learning something new needs lots of time. And to be paid and learn is tough, especially if you already do one job (like a full stack). So there more challenges than just learning, its surviving while working and learning.

This is also a challenge for me. But I started doing it gradually (ie. 1 hr daily) as what the Atomic Habits book recommends. Now I'm investing around 2.5 hrs a day just learning.

    • @shaunweinberg2463
      @shaunweinberg2463 ปีที่แล้ว

@john888 yes, it's a slow process. And what you learn from videos and real life applications are also different. So small little bites at a time is needed to learn

Just because something is trending, it still can't leave the fundamentals. You can't power AI without clean data. You can't power web3 without the network set up. Hence, in the end, fundamental jobs such as data engineer, data architect and network engineer will never die out. In fact, we need them more than ever because it saves cost in the long run, and guess who they will hire during a recession...

This video is such a relief!
Before watching this one, I've watched all these "You have to be best AI engineer if you don't want to lose your job and live in poverty forever"😈, and asked myself how possible is to gain all these trendy skills and how necessary is to leave everything I learned and start learning something new when I actually just started my career?
Thanks for reminding me to stick to my path and keep on strenthening the current skills.🙏

I've been saying to myself and others that you must be an expert in what you do best or want to do best. There are people that know old programming skills and languages that work well with traditional people and not those companies that seek the new thing. Be open to evolving and be willing to change. You are beautiful by the way.

Thanks for sharing such awesome advice! I also try and figure out what is in demand within the company I'm currently working for, and learn some things to level up that way! Right now I'm learning Quality Engineering on Udemy because my company is fairly new and still needs to implement a QC department. I also am always curious about how the machines work in the lab... today I was on the phone with the company who makes our vape cart filling machine and asked what programming language was used to build the user interface, even though I didn't NEED that information to fix the machine. Here's another saying: "Jack of all trades, master of none". Not always a bad thing, but like you said, be aware thats where you might be headed!

Hi Anmol! Welcome to Toronto! How are you enjoying it so far? I know the weather hasn’t been great! And great suggestion. I will definitely do that. In the meantime, have you checked out “meetup.com”? I haven’t used it in a while but it used to host some great meetups and events to attend in Toronto. Meetups are a great way to network because others who are going are looking to network too

Don’t chase tech trends, we still have a consumer economy so try to figure out what is going to sell. Sell to the end customer, the user.

It’s very sad! Lots of opportunities in small to medium companies! It too will settle itself out it just takes time. That’s why it is more important then ever to not get too comfortable and continue to level up 💓

big companies also overhired. some of them simply expected more people to walk away on their own, some of them projected growth that wasn't happening because of inflation and everything else.

Should I learn web3 or Ai
Web 3 is in demand ?

    • @brayanjpm

i think that dominate the fundamentals for any technology is "enough" for stay update, but if you want to stay on demand as developer, ai specialist , or any career in order is so important to be focused in to that specifically , all depends from what do you want for you, of course, yo also had to do a market study
