Dude NONE of the reviewers gave the IIB mode the time of day. Check my review vid of the amp. That mode is AWESOME. Same with the Mark VII mode. Everyone crapped on it because when you gain it out hard it gets pretty loose but it's an amazing mid to low gain rock sound and FEELS so different to the crunch mode.
They’re so close, you would be hard pressed to tell a difference in a band. The V90 also made a great poweramp for the Quad I used to have. I really dug all the different power responses you could get by selecting a different mode on the V.
I used an old carvin T100 power amp with my first studio preamp. I had a TC Gmajor between them and my 2x12 wired stereo so I could use both outputs from the studio pre into both inputs of the gmajor then out into each channel of the T100. Surprisingly big sound from a 2x12.
For years I always wondered why you painted your room walls Orange, then I figured out the Auburn connection. I think the room would look much better with some Florida Gator Blue mixed in there ;-) LOL
Part of it was testing the wife when she said that since it was my room I could do whatever I wanted. What better test than to paint the walls a bright terra cotta orange? She was just like "okay". LOL
That's what I gathered but a slight tweak on the presence control of the module brings it right there with the VII but I wanted to keep the tone knobs identical for both units.
internally when they were developing the VII, it was going to be the VI but it took them so long and so much changed, they just went to the next version.
All that work to help the synergy - borrow the boogie EQ (a huge part of the sound) and power stage.... and still has none of the magic of the true mesa. Of all the IIC+ alternatives out there the Synergy is the least good tone and least convincing I've heard.

The mark 7 preamp is slightly more bright and sizzly

I like it better than the studio preamps I used to own. I'd rather buy one of these than another studio pre.
