@@shamangirldestroyer4781 You can disagree, but its not a matter of opinion. If it was part of the main series, it would be numbered. If it isn't a spin-off, then why wasn't it numbered? NINE, If... and Strange Journey all contained different battle systems as well differing from mainline SMT. They are not numbered because they are Spin-offs that tried something new. If they had been more successful, perhaps they would have spawned their own continued off-shoots similarly to SMT: Persona. A game can still be an SMT game, but it isn't a mainline SMT game just because of that fact. Persona is an SMT game, but it is not mainline. Strange Journey and REDUX is an SMT game, but it is not mainline.
@@shamangirldestroyer4781 The Director of strange journey agrees with me: "To be exact, it was developed as a spinoff from the start. The promotional staff at the time judged the game to have high enough quality to be marketed as a numbered title, so they suggested selling it as a numbered SMT game. Even Mr. Kazuma Kaneko, who worked with us to design the human and demon characters and pen the original story, backed up the suggestion, saying it was “good enough to be called Shin Megami Tensei IV.” But, because it was conceived as a spinoff, we enjoyed the freedom of going off on a tangent from the mainline games (and the extra pain and suffering from that, haha). Therefore, I felt a strong resistance to market it as a numbered title, and I ultimately rejected the suggestion. I think I would be a little more flexible about it now, but my past self who had just experienced the pain of creating a new title wasn’t as confident, and I couldn’t make that decision then. On that note, Strange Journey has no chronological relationship to the rest of the Shin Megami Tensei series."
I know that by "mainline" you obviously meant not Persona, and this is still a great compilation, but doesn't having Raidou music, which is a spin-off of a spin-off, kind of make it not mainline?
I mean, the only thing that's really "mainline" in Megaten is the numbered titles: SMT 1-SMT 4 Apocalypse. Also Strange Journey. Also If.... Also Imagine. Also fucking Synchronicity Prolouge for all I care, "mainline" is weird as hell.

Bruh...
any moment.....any moment....
So glad theres some Strange Journey on here
> SMT Mainline
> Contains mostly songs from spin-off series.
OBJECTION OVERRULED Its 5 tracks, does not equal >4 which would mean 1-3 tracks. Even a single non SMT song would invalidate the title though.
OBJECTION OVERRULED not to mention that strictly interpreted SMT mainline only include numbered entries. So its actually 8 tracks non SMT “mainline”.
