- One of the most challenging parts of full-time boat life is safety. Keeping your tiny off-grid home away from the dangerous of a public footpath can be a daunting task, and sometimes you've got to go with your gut to find a mooring, even if it means changing plans, or doubling your journey time. In this episode we travel to Leamington Spa for a family visit, and battle the various circumstances that make us feel a little more on edge than usual... 🤔😟

Hi guys, here’s an ant hack we’ve used for years, spray the 1st 30 - 50 cm with fly spray or citronella oil and they won’t run up the rope and onto the boat, happy cruising x

Regarding ants .... they won't cross a barrier of vaselene ... at least on plant stems anyway ... if you put a fairly good splodge around your ropes it would probably work too plus it wouldn't wash off in a hurry either ... just a thought 😉

Have you thought about using vehicle vinyl wrap for the doors leading into the cabin. I would imagine it would be longer lasting and better suited against the weather

Those paddles are hard work and take forever to wind up and down! When we went through there were more moored boats, including a lot of hire boats. Just down from where you moored by Lidl (going back towards Bascote) there is a very handy Morrisons with a laundry centre. We loved Radford Semele too :)

You could always check the Police Crime Map and see how many crimes have been reported near the mooring you choose. You can select any area of the UK and check out what each reported crime was before committing to staying.

Thank you!! I think that's mainly the camera making them look better than they are. Most of them are pretty wrinkled 😂 But we do try to keep them flat in the drawers or hanging up! We don't have an iron
Always go with your gut - your instincts haven't let you down so far, plus the nights are still bright enough that you (hopefully) won't need to do any twilight cruises 👍

When you paint interior areas that get a lot of wear or the occasional bit of water/bird turd on them over paint them with clear water based varnish, usually in satin finish. This gives it an excellent wipe clean surface without altering the appearance. Try it, it will change your life!😂

Hello again ☺. Be careful with that black paper with Rufus, that he doesn't get it on the paws and then rub his face or lick them. Black ants 🐜 will generally only bite if trapped! They're wonderful, clever creatures. Don't kill them if possible. Now red ants! They can be nasty little whotsits 😅. Sending love and light 🐶🐾

It's often tricky to know if a mooring is 'safe' or not. When our daughter visits from Madrid for the summer she is so much more nervous than us. She sees ever bit of rubbish as a sign of a bad mooring. After 2 years of living aboard we tend to go with our gut feelings. Thanks for another great vlog xx Love to Peter the frog and Shrimpy guy xx
