  • Do you want to know how deep the water is below you when you're kayaking? I tested it with this Joylog Smart Sonar Fishfinder. I don't fish myself, but as the name of the product suggests, it detects fish and shows at which depth they are moving. For me, the depth meter and the visual representation of the bottom are especially interesting. Especially on larger rivers, I find it quite useful to see what's beneath me, as the device also detects other objects apart from fish, such as large stones, branches, or other items.
The data can be read on your smartphone or tablet, for both iOS and Android. The device is a no-brainer, as the manual shows all functions.
Test location: Oolderplas in Midden-Limburg (NL), municipality of Roermond.
Oolderplas is a lake formed by gravel and sand extraction and is located between the Maas and the Lateraalkanaal Linne-Buggenum. The name of the lake refers to the hamlet of Ool. The lake is used for tranquil water recreation, and its shores form the nature reserves Isabelle Greend and Oolder Greend. These areas are owned by Limburgs Landschap. The lake and its shore areas cover 263 hectares and have a maximum depth of 32 meters.
This is not a promotional video; I purchased the Fishfinder myself.
