    What is your preferred choice for leather protection?

      Apex Detail I use the Scott Bley method. First a mixture of distilled water and dollar store woolite cut 4:1 to clean. Then I seal with Megs Ultimate Fast Finish. Use this on both C5’s and won several Best of Class and 1st Place trophies this past season. Won Best Corvette at a NCRS All GM Show so the stuff works good and doesn’t cost very much $$. I switched to Car Pro Perl cut 3:1 to seal after watching you work on the red C2 convertible and won again with this combo.

      I like both Cquartz Leather and Gyeon Leather Shield. Have you had the chance to try Cquartz Leather? Would like to hear your thoughts on how they compare to IGL. Thanks.

      Leatherique System has worked well for me. It seems to penetrate coated leathers to clean and soften

    Love the tip about using a leather conditioning cleaner like a clay lube instead of a straight cleaner when you need to do a very a gentle magic eraser once over.. brilliant.. thanks, Brian! 👍👌✌

    Really appreciate these instructional vids and no bs product info. So many companies want to sell you a separate cleaner and conditioner. I’m a big fan of heaven for leather, but recently re-discovered leatherique prestine clean with the new ‘leather in a bottle’ scent

    If proper leather protection had been applied before the spilled hot coffee/choc., would the perforated leather still be permanently damaged? If you immediately mop up a hot liquid from the leather seat with a MF, will the seat still be damaged? Does the car now smell like hot coffee or hot chocolate if you heat up the seats? When I get my new car, maybe I won't let anyone eat or drink in it ! Thank you for the video on cleaning and protecting the interior. Excellent result.

    • @apexdetail85

      It certainly helps...but some damage will still occur.

    It wasn’t implicit but assumed, did you coat the dash with igl as well? I love Sonax leather cleaner, but it is aggressive and can attack the dye and OMG do not drip it or apply it without using a brush. Tried it after one of your videos and did my bmw and coated it, then I rescued both an M class bmw and Maserati both with dirty faded red leather, outstanding result on both. liked the brushes, are those Detail Factory?

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    More info on the brush please. It looks stiff enough to clean but soft enough not to damage the coating.
    Also any tips on cleaning micro suede / alcantra? I’ve got the 3LT interior which has the suede inserts on the seats and doors, plus arm rest. These areas pick up lots of oil from your skin.

    I really enjoyed this video on leather interiors. I didn't realize there are better products for leather. How are you going to fix the wrinkle on the center console lid? A lot of Corvette owners have creases in their leather seat cushions. Any suggestions how to fix them? Can you do a video about detailing wheels : )

    • @Piglet6256
      @Piglet6256 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      for creases etc you would need to use a leather filler, sanding and coloring the leather. Everyone can do it if you look into it, Colourlock has instructional video's for example.
      No sponsor for Colourlock in anyway, i just know they have excellent products which work. See the obesessed garage video with the colourlock guys

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am replacing them. there are other money ant time consuming alternatives that I covered in some older videos.

  • @Piglet6256
    @Piglet6256 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would advise to use a colourlock/swissvax leather brush, safe and faster. colourlock/swissvax Theyre leather experts and in my opinion they have the best products for cleaning/protecting and restoring all leather. Try Colourlocks Leather Fresh to repair small scuffs etc, bigger scratches etc even holes try Fluid leather. Your seats will be like new.
    Note: Leather Fresh comes in colors, so contact them for the right leather color for your car. Fluid leather is a filler and additional steps are required.

    Where would I find that handy two headed seam brush? Thanks Brian! Hey, quick question, do you ever do videos on correcting/polishing exterior glass?

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I stay away from glass. Replacing it although expensive is the best option.

    • @tundrawhisperer4821
      @tundrawhisperer4821 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apex Detail I ask about glass, because I recently took a detailing class at Griots Garage. It’s a one on one class for one hour, free of charge. You bring your own car in and it was awesome to experience. At the very end of the session, I asked the instructor about my water spots on my glass. Not sure I you remember my email pictures I sent you Brian, showing you my hard water spots all over my glass? Anyways, he took another ten minutes with me and showed me their technique and dedicated glass polish. I was just blown away Brian, he polished one of my side windows to absolute perfection. Just wanted to share and see if you had your own version on this. Thx, love your videos!

    Brian, what product would you recommend for leather when one is looking for that "High Gloss Shine"...I know it looks unnatural to some, but I am a fan of it. Currently I am using Chemical Guys leather conditioner.

    Hey Brian, I appreciate the videos. I was wondering after you pointed out the spot on the passenger seat being damaged by coffee. How do you feel about using a streamer on leather? Or is it because the coffee or whatever spilled salt for a long time. Hope all is well.

    Note: not a colourlock/swissvax sponsor at all. I just know theyre the best on the market for leather. Check th-cam.com/video/NA5k50B75-w/w-d-xo.html and maybe it will convince you.
    I always look for the best ways and best products to do a job, for leather in my opinion theyre the best. Sure other products like from angelwax or sonax etc do work, but i want the best and not just average or ok.
