This movie does so many things right. The characters, their development, the fight choreography, the lessons, how well it depicts ancient China, it's all so great. One part I really like, and often see overlooked, is how after Po lays out his insecurities to Shifu, we see that Tigress heard the whole thing and finally started to soften up and feel sorry for him, and realized he was actually taking Kung Fu seriously, not "treating it like a joke" as she previously stated.
They have so much inaccuracy about chinese culture.
@@aasamspb967 😂 China had a meeting about why Chinese Culture wasn't as accurate and used in most films because of Kung Fu Panda. Its extremely loved by them.

I disagree about the third one, but I loved the 2nd more than the 1st
@@gopalarora9997 it's the villain. And plotpoint in a way tying to said villain. What made that movie decent or "good" to me, was the relationship between Po's adoptive and biological father. It was so beautifully done. Showing Peng's insecurities about Po being "stolen" because of his dad showing up. But Po's dad wasn't trying to forcefully insert himself in his life, pr take Po away, his presence was simply like "thanks for taking care of my son I appreciate that, and I'm here now." He acknowledges that Peng is Po's dad too, and as the movie progresses, we see him accept and have both.

One of the best trilogies out there including How to train your Dragon as well. The Second part of this franchise is GOATed.

@@BaulFoodmanedits He was released at the end when Kai was destroyed. All of them who were living were transported to the living realm and those who were in the spirit realm were released in the spirit realm itself, eg: Oogway
25:07 damn, I'm kinda disappointed you guys skipped put Tai's monologue about Shifu putting alot of high expectations on him, filled his head with dreams then abandoned him when Uguay denied him of the dragon scroll and Shifu didn't defend him. Tai lung has got to be top 3 of DreamWorks best villains. He's such a complex character that turned to villainy through experiencing something so human that some of us can relate to when it comes to high expectations and being over worked by our parents. Tyler wasn't just denied by his master, but his father. Tai Lung is a victim of forced ambition.
32:15 I would like to add, that while Shifu was training Po he was smiling. And as we remember from Tigress telling us the backstory and relationship between Shifu and Tylung, Shifu hasn't smiled since that moment. Po made Shifu love training again.
Edit #2: Tylung is also very materialistic. He thought to be the dragon warrior is to be the best trained. Thus his confusion to Po's self gratification explaining why there's just a mirror in the scroll. Why there is no secret ingredient, it's just you. The whole movie we see Po made fun of for his physique and being illiterate about Kung Fu. Contrast to Tylung who's in great shape and after being locked up for so long, is still a very skilled martial artist. Ty lung lacks the internal aspect of a Kung fu master, and he lacks humility/empathy as the dragon warrior. Po was the dragon warrior from the beginning.
One thing I think that made Shifu love training Po is that he uses a "soft" style that is completely different from how he trained Tai Lung: we saw in the Tigress flashback that she was trained very similarly to Tai Lung, but without the love and compassion part in forming attachments. Training the Five, whilst an important job, likely served only to remind him of training Tai and the failures that followed him later in life. Po was a complete noob with knowledge of the craft but no starting skill, so it was a learning process both ways..

Shifu trained Ty lung to be the dragon warrior, he didn't have any other ambition. So when Ty was denied, it was as if he didn't have any meaning and that must've sucked because that's like training your child to be a spelling b champion, they get disqualified and you don't stand up for them to be in the competition.
Contrast to Po that was just a fan of the furious five and admire of Kung fu. He didn't aspire to be the dragon warrior, nor was he staying at the Palace to be one. He was simply trying to prove he's worthy and Oguay wasn't wrong about him by not quitting despite being treated with such hostility by shifu and tigress. I think it comes down to how the characters were raised and what values they come to have.

The reason why Tai Lung couldn't block Po's chi because Panda's are the rarest animals and that's why Tai Lung couldn't study a Panda's nerve.

It’s such a simple thing but it explains so much
Po looks at himself in the scroll and says “it’s blank.” Tai Lung looks at himself in the scroll and says “it’s nothing”
Po is blank, to be filled, a blank slate for kung fu, surrounded by people that are there for him. Tai Lung is nothing, he dedicated everything about himself to just being the Dragon Warrior, to read the scroll he thought held power, and it ruined him

@@antonijehendler9033 I disagree. HTTYD final entry into the franchise was a better third movie than Kung Fu Panda 3. The villain was better. He's basically Hiccup if he was lead to kill dragons. Both characters aren't much to look at when it comes the ideal catch as viking strength, so they rely on intelligence. I mean thats the whole reason stoic named his son hiccup.
The villain in HTTYD 3 challenges Hiccup's views on his found unity with the dragons, questions his leadership. Which intern allows hiccup to doubt his judgemental or question if he's even ready to be chief, or if he's making the right decisions when it comes to the safety of his people. That's all you can hope for in a good villain or antagonist.
Looking forward to Kungfu Panda 2 reaction, please don't make us wait long.

If you guys loved the relationship between Po and his father, do check next two( kungfu panda 2 and 3) instalments. Though I don’t think they are as strong as the first part, they do explore parental relationships.
I think Kung Fu Panda 2 is better than the first one and the best out of the trilogy but that’s just me I loved how much the stepped up the action and how dark Lord Shen and Po’s backstory is

The crazy thing about the parallel of the Noodles and Kung Fu is that Noodles has some of the richest history and culture and tradition in China, actually more so than Kung Fu.

This movie is an absolute masterpiece!! Still as funny, as cool and still god damn wise....
My favorite trilogy. A movie like this is the result of so much expertise, hard work, and care. Character designs by the outstanding Nico Marlet, score by Hans Zimmer, voice acting by Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, and the other A listers, and then theres the amazing writing, storyboarding, Animation! and the fact that artists actually went to China to immerse themselves in the culture and integrate it with honor and respect. Love this movie so much!!

Oogway means “turtle” in Chinese. Shifu means “master/teacher” (so he’s called Master Master). Tai Lung means “great dragon” (nice one, Shifu, way to raise his expectations)
This is one of those movies I can always find myself watching again from time to time. Watching reactions from you two is my favorite thing on this channel and Cinedesi. I've always appreciated your input and the fun you guys have.

Yes. All the voice acting is top notch. The fight scenes and cheography are great. 16 years later and the amimation still looks so good. It's just a movie made with so much talent, love and dedication.
1. In this movie , Tai long is not a villain he is just a broken hero .
2. This movie tells about how the parents has high expectations for their children and fill their mind from childhood which is not good (Tai long story ) and how they don't care about children's passion ( Po's story )
3. This movie is so great that the Chinese people had an argument that they should make their movies as great as this .
In the end he became a villain. Everybody has a choice. Plenty of heroes come from broken homes or have worse trauma in their past and push through it. That's what makes them heroes. When you give in to hate and choose revenge is when you become a villain. It's fine to understand a character's fall, but people need to stop trying to sympathize with every villain in every piece of fiction.

The fight over the dumpling scene was literally my favorite scene. This trilogy is one I can watch and never get tired of

Leaving everything else aside just visually this movie is a masterpiece every single frame feels like it was composed like a painting
So glad you guys included the very end scene with Po and Shifu eating dumplings together. A lot of people miss that the first time around (myself included)
I love the shot of Tai Lung jumping and scaling the falling rocks during his escape, it reminds me of Ra's Al Ghul's "Training is nothing, WILL IS EVERYTHING!"
Amazing things that each character behaves like the animal it represents tigress is a lone warrior, the prison rhinos think they got thick hide so they are unbeatable 😂

This movie is just great, amazing in so many different ways!! Just amazing story, great characters, character development, character relationships and not to forget the lessons this movies has for almost everyone be it kids or adults, just an all round fun family entertainer that just never misses to amaze me every time i watch it. As Jaby said this movie has great re-watchability and did i mention the background score?; it is absolutely amazing and beautiful, it's so engrained in my brain and has so much power over me to this day whenever i hear it it makes me emotional and gives me goosebumps at the same time. Just top tier animation and probably one of the best animated movies of all time. Brilliant!

When I first saw the punching bag, my first thought was about an old toy from decades and decades ago called Weebles. An egg shaped toy that had a tagline that said "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down
Now you have to see 2nd and 3rd part.... It's just keep getting better
I almost forgot how top tier this movie was. I watched it a tonne when I was a kid so I hardly did anymore in my later years. But you always appreciate things better as a grown up.

@@jafrulislam7529 I also think the line "There is no secret ingredient" is hard to accept for most. Growing up, I thought everyone around me was more talented and proficient. I was a failure at everything I tried, so I thought they had "something" I didn't have.
Yeah, turns out everyone is different, and that "something" doesn't exist. Talent comes from hard work, the only thing you can be born with is a PASSION for it.
Po has the passion, and ultimately that's what made Tai Lung fail in the end. He had no passion left after being discouraged by Oogway and Shifu and going on a vengeful tirade. AHH I could talk about this movie for hours but I WON'T 😂👌

As asian and kung fu genre lover who watch kungfu movie, comics since i was children, this movie is one of the greatest kung fu movie ever made.

Most viewers wonders what happened when Po did the pinky move, well it finally gets explained in its third & final movie of this amazing trilogy.
the reason why po seemingly feel less pain while getting beaten by the furious five is cuz of pandas immense durability, pandas always fall from trees and they develop a very strong durable body

Something many miss over is Oogway's word of often you meet your destiny on the path you take to avoid it.. If Shifu never sent Zeng to check on Tai Lung, the feather wouldn't have led to Tai Lung's escape.
You should check 2 and 3 as well.. these are very great movies

This movie was playing in a store in late 2008, i noticed it at halfway through and stood there for two hours until i'd seen the whole thing! It's been one of my favorites ever since!

This is DreamWorks dear not Disney. They haven't produced a villain as kickass as tylung in a longggg time. And they Still haven't produced great villains, some of their recent films don't even have villains at all. When you think of Disney, it's always old Disney. There's a reason almost all of those villains are used in villain writting analysis videos and have such a love and respect in pop culture
